Legends! Remember that time when my Smart ForTwo 450 went bang? I do ... thankfully Dad was on hand to rebuild the entire engine. But we didn't touch the suspension.
The series is on the Channel ... But if you fancy more smart car woes ... here it is.
After a recent video trying to diagnose gearbox faults ... Dad noticed a knocking from the rear of the car and discovered the rear control arm bushes were totally broken. Dad also noticed that the front of the car sat very very low. We decided that new shock absorbers were needed. In this video we continue that process by fitting new springs, shock absorbers and top mounts.

You can get a double hook compressor, which will stay on the spring much better than those single hook ones.
But you dont need it, because the contraption is a win 👌🏻

I think Pete's quality of life would be greatly improved if he had a lidl parkside plasma cutter. Think of the things he could cut!

If anything, I would say that "The Device" looks slightly safer than those spring compressors as everything is held together in alignment.

Your dad should really be wearing a mask when spraying that stuff as it cant be good if he breaths that in , Glad the 450 Smart is coming along well , I prefer the older one to the newer one it looks lighter and more nippy

I call them clamps window maker's. I have a set of them they do work but if they let go the spring takes of i have the same crawler hope your Dad finds it really useful 😊 I have freind who has a better one for clamping springs i think he said he paid around £80 of evil bay.
I bought an cordless Angle Grinder from Lidl parkside seems decent enough tool for the money. Don't get your Dad a plasma cutter😂.
What's your bottom jaw with that contraption I've seen one hanging off BCOS of a suspension spring.⚠️ Wasn't a good look at all.
