- The Denza N7 is the first vehicle from any BYD brand to have lidar and air suspension, but there is room for improvement in this initial attempt.

wow that double sided charging looks really cool, feels like the matrix
Hope the car's paint don't get keyed if they are occupying two charging port at a busy charging station....
@@EeeLifeHope it does.
@@EeeLife someone has to be dumb to do that in china. he is bound to be caught on camera . it is the benefit of have survallence everywhere. criminals have nowhere to hide.
@@qilu2004Dude, is being rude at a car charging park really a crime in China?
@@موسى_7 keying a car.of someone else is a crime in china, and probably also anywhere else in the world.
Nice power slide in the parking lot! 👍🏻 Looks like a nice suv, and I can’t wait to see more.
这辆车,实际体验很好我指的是质感,只是不知道其它地区是否会卖这辆车。
Holy god, imagine a big chinese boss parking over the dividing line between two charging spots occupying both chargers - that's the kind of image my brain draws when thinking about two charging ports😅
Drifting like a boss
Leave it to the Chinese to come up with charging ports on both sides to charge super quickly. Enjoyed your report.
probably stole the idea from THE WEST.
Mitsubishi iMiEV had that.
Ahem… audi
Nice channel . Very informative
Quite a change compared to previous generations!
Nice looking car. For the high powered AWD car, it needs to have larger wheels and tires, 245/45 20 is what I saw listed on the tire, for a car of that size and power output that’s too narrow, they should use 265/40 22 or do a staggered setup like the other guys performance versions. The air suspension should have firmer tuning to manage the motion of the vehicle, especially in that drift mode.
From how spacious the interior is, they could have made the rear a bit more luxurious with a 4 zone system with a screen to operate the rear HVAC system as well as add electronic recline for the rear seats. Just saw the BYD Seal for 2025 has an 800V charging system, I’m guessing this will get an upgrade for 2025 as well, no more needing to connect 2 charging cables. For the pricing on this one, they need to make it better.
Wishing it would reach the Philippine shores.
Man, there are so many Chinese car companies and it seems like each has 10+ brands. There is probably a crazy price war coming to thin them out.
It's already hit, which is why EV prices have dropped significantly in the last 4-5 months.
I have a feeling this will be the next BYD model released in Europe.
BYD SEAL U already
Hi Ethan, I test drove the Denza N7 about two weeks ago. I had so much expectation before the test drive, but it didn't quite live up to that.
I was under the impression that this is gonna be sportier than the Porsche Cayenne, which I am trying to replace. So imagine how shocked I was when I found the seating position to be really high and upright. I quickly realized that the N7 is more about comfort. But even as a comfortable family car, the air suspension was a huge disappointment to me. It's not bad at all, but it's also not nearly as good as Denza and some reviewers claim it is. I am also a subscriber on bilibili and you only briefly mentioned it there. I am glad you talked about it in details here.
The infotainment system is another letdown and needs a lot of optimization. It has too many layers of menu, especially when using apps. To exit a third level menu in a pop-up window or an app, I had to tap the tiny close button on the top right corner. It's perfectly fine for an Android tablet, but it's quite difficult to use on a car. I also found the audio system to be a disappointment. It's probably not bad at all at its price point. But again, the press material raised by expectation so much. You also mentioned the Augmented Reality HUD, which I previously didn't know what it was. I was never able to read clearly from it and I experienced dizziness looking at it.
Fortunately, most if not all the issues can be addressed via software updates. At the current state, it feels pretty much like a comfort-oriented, slightly more premium, but less polished BYD seal, which is an amazing car at its price range.
sporty cars don't sell well in china. comfort is what most chinese consumers want. having said that, you need to take this car to a bumpy road to see how it shines. its suspension adjusts BEFORE the tyres hit bumps.
@@qilu2004 I have been living in China since 2017. I also spent my childhood here in China with my expat parents. I do understand the demand for comfortable and spacious cars here, and I can appreciate comfy cars like the Li Auto L9 or the Denza D9. I just didn't expect the Denza N7 to be like that, based on the press material I had seen online.
We took the N7 to unfinished roads and underground garage just to test the suspension. Like I said, it's not bad. It's certainly more comfortable than the BYD Seal, for instance. Maybe Denza can better tune the suspension system via software patches, but at the current state it isn't any more special than other cars with air suspension. The suspension on XPeng G9 and IM motor LS7 are just as good, if not better.
The N7 is still a great car for its price. 339k yuan for the dual motor version is quite competitive. But the PR campaign is really bad, even worse than Li Auto L9's "best family SUV under 5 million yuan" campaign imo.
@@AyazakuraRinne we will see. i personally prefer the N7 over G9 or ES6, or etron, but none of those can be regarded a successful product in china. L7 is for a different group of consumers. Also, i suspect any test drive offered by dealers will let u drive on roads poor enough to show the advantage of N7's suspension over competitor. think about the Yangwang U9, which dealer will let u test drive the car with one wheel missing?
@@qilu2004 It's perfectly fine to have different opinions, and I respect yours.
I live in Shenzhen. If you live nearby, try the Denza retail center at Happy Harbour (欢乐港湾). They let you take the car to Dachanwan (大铲湾) where the roads are pretty bumpy. This is also where we went for my Xpeng G9 and Li Auto L7/L9 test drives.
You will be surprised how amazing the services are from these Chinese brands. In my Nio test drive, we made a roundtrip to Guangzhou and swapped the battery en route. Li Auto offered me a test car for 3 days, during which I took my family on a roadtrip to Shantou. Denza also offers long test drives for 2 days if you are looking for the D9. They will probably do it for the N7 as well once they have enough test cars.
Wondering if the BYD Song L is a sportier interpretation, while the Denza N7 is more comfort oriented. They appear to be on the same platform.
Exterior design wise I definitely preferred the Denza X/N8. The front end on the N7 looks outdated and the rear looks identical to a Porsche Macan or Panamera ST, which doesn't match the front end at all. I thought the X/N8 was an unexciting but somewhat unique and elegant design in comparison.
4:44 Ethan has that Doug DeMuro energy.
Agree, very accurate!😮
it would be very good if you test the acceleration time of cars you review using draggy or any other tool
We don't have a safe, closed environment to test the performance numbers of cars, and I think it would be unfair to do so using something as inaccurate as Draggy. It would best to use something like a VBOX, but we also don't have access to that kind of equipment.
Reason why I love the Chinese... They're evolving... Europe is static!
Let's hope this N7 sells a bit better than the Denza X pure EV model , that only sold 369 times. If it can match the D9 EV sales numbers , that would be great. (45.5K in 8 months) Not a fan of the frontal clip design but it seems assembly quality has gone up quite a bit. A nice step forward on the X it seems ...
It's a massive leap forward compared to the X, which I think BYD would rather we all forget haha
腾势X在中国,卖的一般,但是N7比腾势X那辆车制造的好多了。

An upside-down π doesn't look very happy 😂😂
Looks quite good but to be honest all the Chinese cars lookalike at this point. As a European I am wondering which of this cars we are going to see over here, especially with good after sale and service. Even wondering if and how Nio and Xpeng are holding up in the long term. What are your views on this? Good reviews by the way, keep ‘em coming
XPeng’s G9 is cheaper. It gets 100km more real world range with 15kWh smaller battery. It charges as fast as triple gun N7. Lol. Inside, Chinese EVs are not equal. Rumors are G9 sales are doing very well in Europe.
For example, those back light look like stolen from Porsche.
Says the uropean who's brands are so awkwardly late in the EV race that VW and Audi have to buy the tech from SAIC and Xpeng and Renault from Geeely
Man sorry to tell you this but none of the top companies of future and actual technology is European, you're the past, oil and colonialism, except ASML yet with American technology
@@ligametis yeah cant believe they stole the tires from prosche too
Anyone else think it’s sad that you need to find two empty charging stations side-by-side to get decent charging? That’s just lame compared to swap or 800V.
I can imagine the face of others electric car users waiting for N7 to finish its charging
Thanks
I wonder what Fang Chan Bao (Leopard) cars will turn out to be. And will Leopard brand go global?!

Do the Audi A8 Horch and other China exclusive cara from global beans as well, please. Not that the home grown electric SUVs are not, hmmm, video material, but I'd prefer to know how the Cadillac ct6 has evolved after its compatriots abandoned it at home, for instance.
We used to do more of those, but honestly they don’t perform as well as Chinese vehicles, so we have to be very selective. I think the Horch would be extremely cool, but it’s going to be really hard to get a press car!
@ndukasmith hmmmm means "thinking about what to say next".
I'm not an American, I merely said that it would be interesting to see stuff that's China exclusive from global brands. If you read my comment again, you'll notice I also mentioned an Audi, a very interesting one, by the way. So, if you don't like my way of thinking or are incapable of interpreting a piece of text, there are plenty of other comments here. Go read them.

Didn’t know that dense is still making stuff apart from D9 and X
Denza X is long gone, they now only make the D9 and the N7 until the 6-passenger N8 debuts later this year.
@@Wheelsboywow..that’s a bit sad I like the X a lot, excited for N8 tho!
@@cocoaiscool2709 BYD has big plans for Denza, because supposedly they will make it a full line luxury brand with 5 model lines, which spell out Denza. So we've only got the D (MPV) and N (SUV) so far, and have yet to see the E, Z, and A model lines. I presume one of those will be a coupe/sports car and the other will be a luxury sedan, but not sure what the third line will be. Bigger SUV perhaps.

Only American cars are any good. It would be great if you could go there and drive them only, Wheelsboy
Such an anonymous car….
Why is there a copy of the Willemstad Curacao waterfront there?
It is kind of low for a SUV isn't it. 🤔
It looks more like a StationWagon.
Yes, the body is lower than a normal SUV of this size, so it kind of straddles both worlds. Still, I think it is ultimately more of an SUV than a wagon.
Take up to hyper chargers how stupid is that ??
我第一眼看到这个车标给我非常廉价的感觉
BYD Seal U
1: That looks like a Hyundai Santa Fe in the front.
2: That rear 3/4 is 100% Porsche Cayenne Coupe
3: That dual charging situation is insane and won't go down too well at your local charging station. Imagine, taking up one parking space and two chargers at once.
3. Then two parking space for 2 Charging outlet it is.
I don't like BYD, but pls don't compare them to Hyundai, that's indeed a huge insult, they deserve better.
Porsche's designer works for BYD. His name is Wolfgang.
In some places in China, electric charging piles have multiple plugs at the same time。If a charging pile has only one charging gun, then honestly park in a parking space and use one charging gun to charge.
I just search up the Hyundai Santa Fe u mentioned. Not sure u are smoking something or what but everyone can tell u had a very bad taste. Maybe u should just back to your cave
Can't keep up...
Equivalent to a Mercedes E class EV. But I prefer this over the Mercedes. And about 50% cheaper. And the Infotainment system in the Denza is way AHEAD of the Mercedes.
Ya! You are a punie boy inside that big Chinese SUV. Ha!
Tesla has lucky the Chinese market is closed in the USA. Tesla is 0 rating next to them.
