  • A great-looking 12" Trinitron from Sony in 1971. It's been well taken care of and still performs well.
    You can see a close-up of this set in the movie "The Post" with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks (2017.) The scene takes place in 1971 and starts at about the fifty-three minute and forty-five seconds mark. The newsroom crew is standing around the set watching Walter Cronkite report. They even paid attention to detail: the VHF indicator is lit although the picture would certainly have been simulated.

    Sony Trinitron Televisions have always produced one of the most beautiful pictures, that you can find and they are very reliable televisions.👍

    Wow...I had no idea Sony was making Trinitron models as far back as 71. That is a nice looking set. Nice lines.

    The Trinitron picture was state of the art from early 70's to mid 80's.

    Dude, I had this exact model like 15 years ago, had to replace all caps for it to turn back on as it was dead.
    Then I was really close to fix it completely but I found out that one color was missing and thought that the cathodes were shot, but it turns out it was just one dead transistor, the sad thing is that I couldn't find a replacement, then I gave up and I don't remember what I did with the TV, I wish I still had it.

    The red button on the rear is a circuit breaker. Push to reset. I worked on many of these as a tech at a Sony service station.

      Do you by chance, know hot to adjust the horizonal and vertical width on the back? Do you just stick a screw driver in?

      @@FreezenFactor I didn't remember that control being on the back but, probably. Try it. Can't hurt. You can always turn it back where it was.

      I don't know, but I know this: Don't use a regular screwdriver. You would need to use plastic/non-conductive trimmer tool.

    What I don't understand about Sony is that they come out with a superior CRT but when flat panels come out I thought Sony would try to make a panel that would be higher quality than it's competitors. What happened.?

    • @Ovalbugmann
      @Ovalbugmann Před 5 lety

      Sony did come out with a superior LCD flatscreen, its called the "Bravia" series (i have one - a 46 incher - the 1080p LCD picture is very nice) , just before that it was the Sony Wega 1080i "Superfine Pitch" screen XBR CRT, they are nice, i have two 32" inchers , that I found for free!! (one from a dumpster area and one on craigslist, gwad! they look so nice!)
