Toyota should just start building this model again. Most useful 4x4 I ever owned. Mine was 6 cyl. diesel 5 speed.
They still make the 70 Series (the next model after this, released in the mid 80's) for a lot of markets such as Australia, Africa and the Middle East. It is marketed as a heavy duty off roader with a diesel v8 and a 5 speed.
@darren knight Still pretty simple. Most complex thing on them is the V8 Turbo engine. Other than that, pretty much the same as this, based off the same chassis as well.

Wow. What a restoration. This is better than new. As an owner of a 1990 automatic HJ61 for the last 12 years I can say I’d never own a manual again. Here in South Eastern Australia we have some amazing steep country to enjoy. The auto Turbo Diesel eats it for breakfast. I wouldn’t own a manual again.
I will also say that my electric windows after 28 years are starting to fail. They are really slow & the rear ones sometimes need added help to close. I’ve tried new rubbers & silicone spray. It only works for a few days and then locks up again.
Maybe the owner had his reasons for doing what he wanted with his own money and we shouldn’t feel the need to have an opinion.
Hi darren knight. Look up a company called Wholesale Automatics in Australia. There are plenty of articles why Auto is better off road. I’ve had the auto rebuilt and a torque converter that can lock up in either 3rd or 4th. While doing this you need to make sure you have decent oil coolers for the trans fluid. Where I live Southern NSW I haven’t noticed any over heating. The traction is better with an auto. You can crawl up to and over an obstacle or hill. Clutch can deliver a bit too much power all in one “ hit” where Auto is softer in its power release. A lot of good comp trucks use V8 and auto.

Love the video! Can I make a suggestion for future videos? Can you add a clip of the cars running at the end? if you end up getting a video of that. Sometimes when I see the videos I want to hear the sounds. Also, have you thought about adding motorcycle builds?

Да охренеть реставрация. Почти идеальное состояние. 4 дырки на всю машину)) Отмыли, зашпатлевали да покрасили да подварили. А вот нашли бы такую Тойоту в Питере или Москве которая в 90х приехала, да гоняли ее по соли да реагентам. Когда на 50 см2 4 дырки с кулак)))
Вот это была бы реставрация!

By the way, my 70 is an auto so I don't need to ask why you swapped it to an auto. I just know.

While everybody’s talking about the manual to auto swap, I’m over here crying about the fact that they created an absolutely mint Land Cruiser and chose the most obnoxious after-market radio instead of looking for a period-correct radio with cassette player from a brand like Sony. It’s amazing how the rest turned out tho!

Love this color. When I search for the "olive" color on land cruisers I am seeing a color with more brown in it? I like this color better. Is the lighting playing tricks on me or is there a different olive color?

have never seen one like this with a high roof... not sure how i feel about it.
also, the color pulls together very well at the end, but not my first choice.
The high roof cruisers were sold as a Sahara. They were the top of the range. 3rd row seating (head room) and split air conditioning.

I don't think the color is ugly at all. Somehow the color works on this vehicle. The build was excellent, and the interior looks great. My only negative comment would be that I personally would not have put the stripes on they, in my opinion, take away from the finished product.

Man, amazing skills in restoration, however,whats up with your music man? Really uncomfortable to have it on and its not music its a continues plate break sound loool.
Nice but not a restoration, just a good rebuild. Non-factory radio, shocks and probably tires along with non correct transmission and paint color, might be correct for model and year but not what was originally shipped.
