    The tones for the organ sound like the ones used in Super Studio Session, which is a Macintosh software. Also Myst was partially made using Strata Vision3D (the graphics) another Mac software. Interestingly enough you can find both as abandonware to play with on either vintage equipment or an emulator. I've played with SSS but not Strata yet.

    In this context I'd call notes 3 and 5 Eb and Bb, respectively, because the enharmonic D# and A# are quite late in the series of sharps, while the first two flats that get added when you go around the circle of fifths are Bb and Eb. Also, any key that has A# (and D#) will also have F# and C#, while in this case we have C and F, indicating that it is a flat key (presumably Bb major or G minor, but it could have any number of flats no less than two and no greater than five).

    I love it when you played Mary Had a Little Lamb with the pipe organ in the rocket ship LOL

  • @TTBurgerThePlayStationGamer
    @TTBurgerThePlayStationGamer Před 6 měsíci

    That was the fun with the pipe organ you were able to do whatever you want with it before you solve the puzzle which was amazing LOL

    You can do the ages in any order. It's actually a little bit easier to do the mechanical age before the selenitic age (that's the one i go to first here) because there's a hint in mechanical you can use in selenitic to make one puzzle a bit easier. But there's no other constraints, you're free to use any order you please. :)
    (And the age you mentioned is channelwood age; I do that one last in the LP)

    if you have a keyboard irl there is a handy cheat for this puzzle
    press the note on the keybioard while the slider note plays..
    if the two notes match up they will resonate with each other thats how i solved it... :3

  • @SamLovesMovies25
    @SamLovesMovies25 Před 13 lety +2

    I solved this puzzle by playing the note on the organ, humming the pitch, going back to the sliders while sustaining my humming, and matching the slider with it lol

  • @mimkyodar
    @mimkyodar Před 13 lety +1

    I ended up solving this puzzle a few years after originally getting the game by counting the keys. Each tone is audible on the slider, so if you carefully slide each one up for each key on the board, you can solve the puzzle.

    I've been doing a play through running the emulated playstation 1 game on my android phone. This puzzle was quite a kick in the teeth. I wish they had you select a key position instead of that finicky slider.

    Hah! Well done on the music puzzle, Sven. I'm envious of your abilities.
    Hated this puzzle more than any other in the game. It was so simple, and yet so difficult! For a guy with no musical background or interest (I rarely listen to music) I was never able to do this puzzle on my own. Also, to make it worse, they made it REALLY difficult to count the notes due to the sensitivity of the sliders.

  • @Tinkidink

    Pretty much the entirety of Myst has been kicked out of canon anyway, which I find confusing and frustrating since I haven't played Revelation or End of Ages yet...

  • @mimkyodar

    I argue that the mechanical age could be easier after selenitic for the same reason. The clue you get there helps either way.

    I don't know if you ever tried this, but I input the alien hail from Close Encounters of the Third Kind into the rocketship in RealMyst just to see if it did anything. (It didn't. Don't try to use any other musical key. There's only one that truly works in producing the proper tones.)

    Ages i figured out in order: Channel Wood, Stoneship, Mechanical and Selentic Age. My sis and I figured out Selentic Age (my dad never got it) b/c she and I sing and were able to work through the notes/tone part. HARD HARD HARD if you can't carry a tune. I think Channelwood is my fav. age.

    If only I had any musical talent at all!...well, a little, but it's not knowledge so much as I can press random keys in a way that doesn't sound terrible.
    Still, cue Disney's Aladdin music, because the Stranger is now in A Whole New World.

    Not that this will help much since this video was made years ago, but the easiest and most sure fire way to solve the voltage puzzle is just to press each button individually and write down the number of volts each button holds on a diagram. Then just add up the numbers that will get you 59 volts, and circle those buttons. You'll get the right number each time, and it'll save you the trouble of using the trial and error process each time you play the game,

    Is there any particular order you're supposed to play the worlds in? I played this game back on my 1992 Macintosh when I was like.... 7. The farthest I got was some world that was in a swamp filled with treetop huts and some complicated pipe system. You got there by doing the tree puzzle you featured in your Part 5 video.
    I'm just curious because I've never seen the world at the end of this video, so is it possible to do the worlds in any order you want?

    I can't fathom people actually having any trouble with the organ, but I guess I took piano for 13 years, and got a national award for music theory... either way, even without knowing notes and intervals, humming the note and matching it on the levers can't be that hard, even for a non-musical person, can it?

    • @ragnkja
      @ragnkja Před 3 lety

      A completely tone-deaf player will struggle, but anyone who isn’t told that they just shouldn’t even try to sing ought to have little trouble.

    From what I read A# doesn't actually exist. It should be Bb (B-flat).

    • @ragnkja
      @ragnkja Před 3 lety

      A# does exist, but only in keys with at least five sharps, in which case you also have D#, G#, C# and F#. Since the melody here has C and F, I’m more inclined to believe it’s a key with at least two and no more than five flats, so it is Eb and Bb rather than D# and A#.
