Did you know that you can add anything into BeamNG.drive? (BeamNG modding tutorial)

  • In this video, I explained and made a tutorial how to add any object to BeamNG.drive and create its own physics for it, i.e. Jbeam.
The step-by-step instructions look like this:
    1. We install an environment for 3D modeling - blender, and also install an addon for blender, I explained how to install and activate it in the video.
    2. We organize folders and documents for our mod, where they need to be created, I described in the video, also below in the description I left all the necessary files for this.
    3. We create the model itself in the blender. We add a sphere, if this is your first mod, then it is better to make it large, because it will be easier to work with Jbeam.
Important! The name of the project in blender, the name of the sphere and the name of the document folders must match exactly!
    4. Creating Jbeam, for this we set refnodes, as I showed in the video and then export Jbeam, it will be exported to the disk in the Jbeam_exported folder, from this folder we transfer the Jbeam file to the folder of our mod.
    Importantly!
You also need to edit the text in the Jbeam file by adding a part of the text that specifies Flex bodies, this text is also in the description under the video below.
    5. Set the visual model. We do the same export as for Jbeam, only click export collada. And we transfer the corresponding dae file to the folder of our mod.
And that's basically all, now our can should appear in the game and it will have its own physics. Next, it will be necessary to specify the materials and specific values for the nodes, but that is a separate task. So now you know how to create your own mod for BeamNG at the entry level and how to make a Jbeam for it in the game.
This is just the beginning of a long way of BeamNG.drive modding!
Required files to create the mod: drive.google.com/drive/folder...

And , well , car modding will be a lot harder , bc BeamNG has very complicated suspension setting system, so to create it from scratch could take a lot of time. I'm trying to make my own car , just setting the body to autobella suspension and I can say that it's pretty tough. But don't worry, we will deal with it 👍

      Well
Try check if ALL of them activated. Search just J and something and if something has jbeam in its name and it's not active, turn it on.
If it's all turned on , then check whether you do all like I said in the video , I mean that you need to go in modelling mode , then mesh -- Jbeam and , well here it is.
Also there may be another way to do it. Try selecting all of them and press Ctrl and F at the same time. Maybe that will work.
Also don't forget to save your project before doing it !
And tell me how your progress is 🙂
We gonna deal with this sphere and it will be in BeamNG 👍
