- After 22 yrs I’ve decided to walk away from Alpha Phi Alpha. I’ve grown and matured spiritually and after understanding the significance of covenants, oaths and rituals, God said it’s time to walk away!

Thank you for sharing. Section 15 hit me man as that is the part of the ritual that I have thought of first since I have began this journey to denouncing alpha. My wife denounced aka about a year ago. She did grad chapter and I did undergrad chapter. A big part of me feels so guilty for leading her to aka and almost making it seem like it was a rite of passage. God please forgive me for that. My wife has been very supportive and has allowed me to walk my path with Christ and yet has held me accountable for progress. The time is now for me, and I thank you so much for sharing your story and am very happy for the peace you have attained.
Brother, praise God! The part of the ritual before the actual ceremony portion where it talked about where the name A Phi A came from was another mind blowing thing. I’m super thankful you have your wife to walk through this with you. I too felt extremely convicted having led sooo many people to Alpha including my cousin and mentee just a couple months before I decided to walk away. But God will have the final say. Blessings

That’s awesome sis! First and foremost praise God for your obedience!! TBH I used to dog the mess outta folks speaking against D9 and at the beginning of this year I wouldn’t watch a denouncing video because I didn’t feel like it related to me and that was those people’s issues they dealt with. But as I started to change my heart posture and to actually go deeper in Christ, the veil was torn and I was like 😬😩😭oh this ain’t good at all! Let me encourage you though that even through the “grief” of losing that “connectedness” with D9 folks I saw just how surface and out of touch I was and God has been surrounding me with like minded brothers and sisters that diligently love Him. I have a good friend who I have known for over 16 years and we grew up in the same church as young adults and another ‘associate’ both who has been inviting me out to ‘public’ Alpha events for the past 5 years. Things appeared ‘on the level’ at first, but I started noticing things that did not sit well in my spirit, especially after attending both a probate as a guest and a co-Ed Alpha and AKA gala event. Let’s just say, me and 5 other ‘prospects’ were verbally hazed where the officials used the N Word and called us motherf*ckers because ‘we did not know all the knowledge of Alpha’ I shocked and stunned 😳 😳😳 for a ‘professional’ Black fraternity to use that type of toxic and hostile language against another fellow Black men. Mind you, there were other chapter officers in attendance of this hazing that did not correct nor hold other officers to an account who were trash talking at us. And mind you also that the gala was supposed to be fun event and not some ‘I’m on line or smoker interview’
That’s my experience and may not reflect everyone’s experience, but It is so sad to keep hearing similar offenses like this. I was so turned off, but ironically, some of the other ‘prospects’ were still interested in joining and I was like ‘nah bro, I’m good’ 😢
Wow! Thanks for your honesty as well. I can fully confirm that the type of rhetoric you experienced is not uncommon at all! Praise God you saw through it and were led to move on. I’ll be praying for the other brothers as well and pray that they get revelation behind the true essence behind these organizations. They all appear awesome on the surface but when spiritual eyes are opened it’s very clear it’s not of God. I urge you to continue seeking the Lord for clarity in other areas that may need to be revealed or exposed. All of that stuff was disposed of. All 3 - 33 gallon trash bags full. It was important to me that anything that I owned and accumulated over the years ceased to exist as did any tie to Alpha. Handing it off to someone else, to me, felt like leaving remnants when God called all of me, not pieces of me. I pray that you are to able to search your heart and in submitting all of you, find a deeper level in Christ. Blessings good brother.

TBH, God wants nothing more than to have a relationship with all of his created beings. Assuming you’re a believer in God and Jesus Christ, the word of God is what every believer should live by while using the Holy Spirit as the resource that sanctifies us. The word is also very clear on having any other Gods before him. That doesn’t just mean bowing down before physical statues. All D9 frats and sororities are founded on things absolutely contrary to scripture as well as any other organization that have rituals requiring oaths and allegiance to any other entity. If it doesn’t make sense to you than perhaps there’s another conversation that we should be having regarding what Jesus Christ really means to us as believers and what serving him really looks like. Even Bible scholars don’t agree because if they did you would not have, COGIc, Baptist, Fundamentalist, SDA, Jehovah witness, Catholic and on and on. We even have the MAGA Christians trying to give us our first Authoritarian Dictatorship in USA.
I am not greek, but contemplating pursuing it. I have a few questions. Would you say organizations such as The Links, 100 Black Men, Jack and Jill, etc. also fall into this realm? Second question....do those of you denouncing also denounce the fact that you have, or maybe still do, pledge allegiance to the flag of the US? Have you asked for forgiveness for doing that?? Finally, for those of you in the military, the law field and even the medical fields....aren't you required to take oaths?? How do you get around each of these scenarios?? Great questions and hunger for knowledge is extremely vital for growth. Just make sure you vet the sources of truth.
For me the primary source of truth has to come from the Word. As a believer, all truth should come from the true source, Jesus Christ.
As for the Links, 100 Black Men, Jack & Jill, I can’t really speak on those as my knowledge base is very low when it comes to those orgs. As with anything, I urge you to ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to the truth of whatever org you are interested in. As a former member of D9 and having done a lot of research into them all, I would highly advise against pledging any part of yourself to those orgs as every single one has its identity & rituals tied to demonic things. When I pledged at 19, I had no real reference to spiritual warfare or demonic activity even though I had been in church my entire life. Sure, I googled info on the organization and talked to a few people but the info I gathered was purely surface. At the time, I knew of no one in my family that was “Greek” so I had very little to go on. I made decisions with the knowledge I had met with the longing for brotherhood I had due to my own blood brother had been locked up for a number of years. When going through our rituals, I recall several things that felt anti Christ- like but I also would fall back on the notion (lie) that the organization was founded on Christian principles, etc which is also something that I proudly spoke on for 22 yrs spouting the same misguided rhetoric. I was also busy tryna ‘live my best life’ so definitely was all the way bought into the things that being “Greek” afforded me. My entire identity was funneled through me being an Alpha. Thank God for his redemptive love and my spiritual awakening.
To address the other things, when I denounced being an Alpha, I denounced any and everything that exalted itself against the knowledge of Christ and any spiritual covenants I had made. I’m in the medical field as a sales rep and an oath isn’t required. However, I have been apart of other organizations that didn’t necessarily require oaths but expressed honor and exaltation of other things and ancestral worship, etc which ultimately didn’t align with my spiritual beliefs so I parted ways and yes asked for forgiveness. I’m in the medical field and military. I’m also an ex OES member and ex AKA. The military & medical oaths are completely different. (Although your trees should be yes and no should be no.) We didn’t bow at altars, twist scriptures, learn secret handshakes, do rituals over dead bodies, pass candles in dark rooms etc. 😂 I don’t think y’all know what goes on behind closed doors. You need to listen to more denouncing videos and read more scriptures.

Amen! That’s my point. The orgs say they are doing good and even doing the Christian thing but the orgs get the credit more so than God thus creating another example of obvious idolatry.

I haven't seen anyone in any of these denouncing videos apologize for abusing other black people to join their organizations. Did God not also say that was wrong as well?
It’s all wrong. My focus in this video was on the spiritual implications of being in the orgs. I’ve been on other podcasts/panels/videos where I have apologized for all the people I influenced into becoming a member which is a lot of people. I never really focused on apologizing for beating on other Black people and it wouldn’t matter if they were Black or any other races. TBH, while each org verbally and incessantly claims to not being a hazing org, it’s all a lie. Also the people that decide to join the orgs, including myself made a conscious, intentional decision to subject themselves to that type of harm. It is definitely one of the dumbest decisions I ever made although I felt completely justified and encouraged to join. But again, the spiritual implications are far worse than any of the physical or psychological effects in my opinion. I pray that you found it insightful. Blessings
I agree that it's all wrong. I understood the intent of the video, that's why I highlighted a pattern that I've noticed that wasn't specific to, but included your video. Physical and psychological abuse shouldn't be understated because of the way it didn't impact you, it could have a very different effect on someone else and impact their ability to be reached when you are looking to address their spiritual well being. As a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha...I'm curious. How far are you willing to go and denounce not just the Fraternity but everything that has potential ties to anything similar to it that could affect your walk and lineage? Are you willing to denounce all of the money in your bank account? Checking, savings, retirement, wages from your employer/business...the same money you use to tithe with? Because the very dollar and money that forms the basis for your income is littered with Masonic/Egyptian symbols-on purpose, not accident. Are you willing to move to another country as the founding fathers of this country and the dollar bill were Masons?
Do you wash it all "under the blood" and keep using money as well as continue to live in the U.S.?
Valid questions sir. The reasoning for me denouncing my membership in the fraternity was way more than me choosing to leave an organization because it had ties to masonic/Egyptian things. The most important reason was because I, Adrian Templeton, took oaths and pledged my heart, soul to Alpha which in turn is a mere representation of the Sphinx which is a documented representation/symbol of the Egyptian Sun god. As a born again believer I stand on the word of God and take His word to heart. As stated in the video, starting at the beginning in Exodus 20:3 we are called to have no other gods ahead of my Heavenly father and creator. Since you are an Alpha you knelt/bowed before an alter representing Alpha which represents far more than we were initially told/taught. I, at the time didn’t have knowledge of alters and spiritual warfare but as the veil was torn from my eyes the Lord revealed all of the corruption and abominations I was committing in the name of “brotherhood”, “scholarship” and “service”. While those are commendable things they are detestable when exalted the way that D9 orgs and the culture okays this behavior; especially as it relates to not conforming to the pattern of this world (Romans 12:2).
So my walking away was to dissolve the spiritual covenant that I created with fraternity and all the demonic forces connected to it. I didn’t have to actively bow and worship anyone or anything in order for my destiny to be altered; in order for portals to demonic activity to be opened; in order for spiritual control to be given over my life and my bloodline; in order for me to be out of alignment with who God created me to be. I can’t say that I’m a new creation nor that old things have passed away if they were very present with me - on my chest, on my clothing, on my vehicles, all over my house, all interwoven in my destiny.
Furthermore, my oath and allegiance was to the fraternity and all that it encompassed. I never made oaths and covenants to money, nor to my employer, or to this country. In fact, since denouncing Alpha, I also had to learn to surrender my finances and all that I am to the Lord so that He can truly be the head of my life and it not just be a cliche to say around other Christians.
Since walking away, I have experienced a peace like no other. My marriage is the healthiest it’s Ever been. My spiritual growth has been magnified as well. Whereas I felt afraid of losing my “identity” I know my real identity and the power/ authority attributed to me as a man of God.
Now each man must work out his own salvation with fear and trembling but no brotherhood, organization, service, notoriety, or affiliation is worth my salvation.
My brother, I pray that you continue to seek God for yourself and for the betterment of your family. I’m sure you’ve been aware of all of the scandals erupting from well known individuals. The grace of God will only extend so far. I pray that you find whatever it is that you searching for and that your views begin to align with my Father in heaven. The pledges and oaths you speak to permeate in so many areas...if they don't tie directly to God, how can you trust it? Do you not go to an emergency room to see a Dr who took the Hypocratic Oath to save lives? Do you not entrust your safety to an officer or firefighter who took an oath to protect and serve you? Do you not vote for any politician who is sworn in to make life better for you as a citizen of your city, state, or country? Do you not support a person who takes an oath to protect our country in the armed forces? Are kids who say the Scout Oath putting their salvation at risk? Do you not say the pledge of allegiance at a sporting event? None of the oaths in the above scenarios are to God but to the service of people keeping God in mind. My point is, if you're gonna do introspection in one area, do it in all.
And I still don't hear you denouncing that potentially tainted dollar (especially using it in church) or leaving the country with said secret fraternal connections lol

The presumable answer is no. That means that you have grown and acquired knowledge over time. That is no different than myself and many people choosing to leave the D9 and other deceptive organizations. Perhaps you don’t have any conviction for the things you do. We all have to start somewhere. What’s true and certain in any case is that Christ loves you and desires true covenant with you, regardless of what you’ve been attached to (in covenant with). I had a 4+ relations with a Alpha Phi Alpha and the way he kept us a secret you would've thought he was a married man. he just didn't want his "brothers and sisters" to know that he was seeing a natural girl unaffiliated with any fraternity/sorority as though it (I) was a sin/error. I hope GOD never allows another demonic entity to engage with me for a relationship of any sorts. This man was like a wolf in sheep's clothing and basically by stealth, stole from me - of my goodness. I hope GOD saves him and opens his eyes too. He was definitely a boaster full of pride and egotistical, turned me off from anyone who is in a fraternity or sorority. I look at them all as shallow, empty people; demonic filled, shells of a man or a woman, just being used by the devil as a vessel by which he channels through, while he 'dresses' you up - something like in the scriptures - Matthew 4:9 (satan came to the CHRIST and said to him, 'worship me and i will give you all these things of the world and its glory). they (these people in turn, to gain the world, they lose/give up their soul to the devil) Mark 8:36 . And that's what it means to me, to be in a fraternity or a sorority [in my humble opinion]. you sell [give up] your soul/spirit to/for the works of satan.
