This video offers suggestions on how to manage lupus nephritis successfully. Did you know that up to 40% of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus patients develop lupus nephritis (LN)? Lupus Nephritis is a severe disease manifestation that disproportionately affects children and adults living in poorer geographic areas despite adjustment for age, gender, and race/ethnicity. It is a more challenging form of lupus to treat as it impacts major organs in the body.

This video is about the impact of lupus on a Black woman. What has your experience been like dealing with doctors and nurses as a lupus patient? Link in bio for research articles.
I started working in the healthcare field in 2005 and I would be lying if I told you everyone gets treated the same way by our healthcare institutions. Many healthcare professionals experience unconscious bias which can sometimes get in the way of providing the best care.
This is some of my story of not being heard of the symptoms I was experiencing. If they cared to listen and test for said symptoms I could've avoided two years suffering of being misdiagnosed. It wasn't until I requested a Black Doctor who knew right away but wanted a battery of test to determine which type of lupus I suffer from. I'm saying this to say you know your body and if one doctor doesn't hear you seek another one until you get your rightful answers, just like any other race. Great convo and tfs. 💜
Unfortunately, this is too common of a story. I am sorry you had to go through that. It takes an average of 7 years of experiencing symptoms before the average lupus patient gets correctly diagnosed. I am glad you finally got there! You are right about getting a second opinion if you are not getting answers or don't feel heard. I am a big advocate for speaking up and looking out for advocating for myself!

I am new in your channel.watched a couple of your videos and I would say you are doing great by motivating all the SLE patient out there. I have been diagnosed with lupus 2 year ago. I know how much it's tough for a lupus patient just to function with her day to day life. But lupus made me to view life in a positive way. Now I am a person who values everything and I try to be happy whatever situation I am in.
I have a question.Are you following Dr. Brooke goldner's goodbye lupus protocol? R u a vegan?
