Honestly, blame the board more. Medical team before Xavi didn't think they should invest in player fitness. Barcelona signed a player who missed Dortmund training to "send a message" and then expected him to be professional. Massive sporting failure. Similarly for Coutinho.

Well one of the answer is the Net spend under him in the FIVE transfer windows (summer 2021, winter 2022, summer 2022, winter 2023 and summer 2023) where he has just spend around 160-170 million euros on net basis (read the full comment to know how this is calculated).
To give you guys some context of how small this amount is, let's take a few examples:
1) Chelsea, when they had to overhaul their squad, have spend more than 800 million euros under their new ownership with a net spend of more than 550-600m in just three windows (summer 22, winter 23 and summer 23).
2) Arsenal under Arteta have spent more than 600-650m with a net spend of more than 450-500m.
3) Man Utd under ETH have a NET spend of more than 400m that too in just three windows (summer 22, winter 23 and summer 23).
All the three teams mentioned above needed to overhaul their squad but they did it by spending atleast more than 400-450m in NET while Barca which were in a much worse situation Sportingly before the arrival of Laporta and needed a better overhaul than all of these clubs, have just spent around 160-170 million euros in NET that too in FIVE windows to make Barca atleast competitive and drastically improve the situation at Barca atleast Sportingly compared to what was the situation Sportingly before the arrival of Laporta.
Yes, Laporta has its flaws but people especially Barca fans should remember whatever he is doing, he is doing with the intention of betterment of Barca as a club and judge him accordingly.
