      Hello Steven
      I'm glad you enjoyed it. As I'm sure you know, the two terriers converted to 2-4-0's didn't stay like that very long. They were somewhat inelegant in that guise!

      Hello Ian
      Glad you enjoyed the video. I'm working on a couple more. The videos are more or less complete, but adding the sound is very time-consuming.

    I’ve not personally seen this wonderful layout, but one day hoping too. It a shame that is only going to remain static.
    Thank you for taking the time to film, edit and narrate the video.

      If folks enjoy watching, it's worth the effort. We were very reluctant to retire the layout, but it was getting old and needed a lot of maintenance to keep it going (a bit like the ageing team of operators!). Hopefully, the Pulborough Society will be able to display it, but only as a static exhibit.

    What a fantastic layout. I'm glad to see that all you signals work.

    • @barryluck1625
      @barryluck1625  Před 5 měsíci

      For the first couple of years on the exhibition circuit, the signals were non-working. Making them functional (including all the ground signals) made a huge difference to the pleasure of operating the layout, and also dramatically reduced 'operator error'. We had a plan to interlock the lever frame (as on Plumpton Green), but I only got as far as drawing up the locking table. For the last few years we used the block bells from Plumpton, which improved operation.

    Hey Barry, I know Pulborough station quite well, not as much of it left these days of course. Up until retirement recently I went through it twice a day on the way to and from London. Looks absolutely amazing the layout really has captured the feel of the place as it would have been back then. Shame it has now been retired but things move on.

    Very impressive layout I like these early look at a station pre grouping with this pre third rail and units. There's a 1913 era Semley layout on the Southwestern which is a non exhibition layout of similar time that's really good too, I love the ground signal moving with that freight run round. I look forward to more of this stunning layout.

      @@barryluck1625 I am studying a shortened version of it as a junction with the branch converted into a heritage railway, a bit like the West Somerset or a GWR version of the Watercress line (Mid Hants). Went to the latter one once and loved the scenery, as it reminded me a bit of my favorite GWR area, the Vale of White Horse (like the Pendon layout and the Pendon Parva station, that I too visited once). It was hard choosing between the late 1900 and the 1940's but as I am also a military modeller and amateur historian (grandson of a member of the Belgian resistance) my choice was logical...

    • @barryluck1625

      Pulborough was built by the Mid-Sussex 1883 group, a Scalefour area group. In 1997 we embarked on a new layout called 'Brighton Road'. Various members of the group moved away and we disbanded sometime around 2005. Brighton Road had a brief period on the exhibition circuit but was dismantled in 2014. In 2012 my son and I started a new layout 'Plumpton Green' which has been exhibited many times over the past ten years. (We own all the stock which ran on Pulborough). We are now building a smaller layout 'Ouse Wharf' which will be exhibited at the Bluebell in July, and Uckfield in October. Details of all these layouts are on my website here:
