"Plastic and stripping go hand-in-hand" - The dirty and creative liberty my mind took when you said that...
PR II hey you won exocaged giveaway lol
@@coolasrc I did! Nice servo - turned it into a winch on my Gen8 Axe!
But not the part about the sac hidden under the table? 😂
John I just love to here you talk and have fun and being a big kid.
Agreed-always amusing and entertaining.
Everyone loves a good rear
It’s great to see how many new people are joking the hobby !! Welcome Jeremiah Johnson !!
Great video as always, John! I just built the axles for my TGH-HH Sherpa build last night... Can't wait to get it finished!
And... I want/need one of those motors!!!!!!!
Appreciate you sharing, Love learning new things. You do make RC even more fun !! This is my passion I love it, I don't use a lot of grease either , ain't never had that issue . I'll be watching more .
Dude, Your awesome. you make rc even more fun! Love watching, great parts. "Didn't notice you there did you here me counting." LOL!
John your my hero. You always crack me up.
"smurf it up" and "1 ugha dugha" in a single sentence. It's like Saturday morning in the early 80's all over again.
1 ugga dugga! Awesome!
Finally a respected RCer mentions that grease, in an RC, really isn't all that important as long as it's lube!
Came for the RC, stayed for the good to know loctite tips.
#56👍 thanks for teaching me about ati squat! And how raising the upper axle link housing helps!!
John, you have that quirky sense of humor like I do - but I ANNOY everyone around me... I wish I had the opportunity to get to know you back when I lived outside of Champaign, ILL. Might have been fun!
I think after watching this, I want to try to get the money for a set of Capra Axles for my old Wraith... Looks like the RIGHT way to build a good 1.9 Wraith!! 👍👍
Carmine ✈🚂🚙
You're crazy! I like you're torque measure system!
Lol your a trip brother!!
I'm eagerly awaiting an update on this one, got me wanting to build a sherpa!
Your the man John I want one of the chassis looks like your sold out as of right now, looking forward to making my own Capra build one day
Hahahahahaha "Hiding a sack under the table" that just got me to subscribe dude good job!!!! I am looking a getting a Capra to build.
Tgh Colorado thanks John he make RC fun:)
“Trusty ol’, old timers knife.” 👍
Watching your build closely, wanting to build something similar
I consider that to ba a 'spool' as there are no side/spider gears.
A 'locker' locks the side gears of a differential together as 1 piece but can be unlocked to work as a regular diff.
Can’t wait for the new Axial scale truck with portals!!! I wonder if they are going to shrink the width for comp use. Maybe they call it the SCx10iii ? It’s coming soon gents
I have a RTR Capra and found the portal gears and gears in the axle's pumpkins were ALL totally dry with no grease at all.
Would like to see the follow up on this build.
me too! Haven't had a ton of time to film lately
@@HolmesHobbies I understand!
Thought it would be nuts in the sack below the table! 😂
Have not bought the rear link riser yet. On a stock rig, which holes should I use for the upper links for trail and climbing?
In this video it looks like when you opened the axel bag it was a complete axel kit including everything. Where can one find a complete Currie F9 axel kit?
Hi, where we did you get the all the internals for the Capra axles ?
Where did you get the axle kit with everything needed to assemble it?
What size hub width are you going for on this build ?
Where do you get that axle kit????
Hey. Just wondering if this build was ever completed. Don't see any other videos on here after this one.
Did he say JOHN HOLMES ?
Gotta admit I've never heard of "Ugga Dugga"; LMAO when I Googled it & found it!
the memes are hilarious
let me know which...witch?
Great video ! Is that truss piece not screwed in at all? I heard it snap in but .....
Unless they have changed the formulation of loctite it is anaerobic meaning the absence of oxygen activates it. The containers it is stored in are oversized for the amount of product so there is plenty of oxygen to keep it liquid but when it is sealed in the threads of a screw there is no longer oxygen available and it hardens and actually turns into plastic. It will never harden in the open but it will dry out somewhat.
Where can I get the shims you were talking about?
It does get screwed in, I just didn't yet.
The lack of oxygen will set many loctite products , but they won't properly cure without touching active metal too. Important distinction, as they will not cure with plastic on plastic, will not bond properly inside a plastic hole with metal screw, and are extremely slow curing when bonding anodized aluminum and other less reactive metals.
@@HolmesHobbies Thanks for the reply. I guess they have changed loctite products ! Thanks for explaining.
Now about those shims. I sure would like to have some just in case I need them.
I thought that loctite worked because it is anaerobic, the absence of air lets it dry, where it will stay liquid with exposure to air. In any case I love watching your videos, thank you.
ahh, but wouldnt it dry in the container if that were all that is needed? It also needs metal ions.
Are you gonna have the gears for your servos available?
yes
lol.. thought I was the only one, assemble... disassemble.. trim, shim, swap screw lengths, lube, threadlock.... assemble, ah crap I forgot... disassemble. Three hours later... look at that, my axle is assembled.
To get a bit of break in as I assemble and to make sure its not having issues, I use my drill to run in the differential assemblies and the transmission.
Hey man! So I was watching this Series of videos watching you build this custom Capra/everything else rig and it seem to me that the videos fell off, as if the build wasn’t finished. Is there going to be a continuation of this rig or is it done?
Just started the build again, shot a vid last week.
Strippers with plastic parts really like third members and hidden sacs.
You said too much grease is not a good thing can you tell me why that is and when I built my axles for my mud buggy I completely packed the axles till it was shoving out all ends and I haven't had any issues but willing to learn something new
Too much drag on drivetrain take some out
drag. But compared to rusting, its better.
I was thinking that too, but if going that extreme in h20 can seal boxes with lil silicone but if bashing lil drag not going hurt either🙂🤔🤔john thanku for great budget motors , I was happy to have 2 stickers w each motor the lil things that count 🚗🙂 I should've ordered plugs but probably better solder right to motor anyways...
How competitive do you think the width will be?
perfect IMO. just under 10"
Third member housing?
Good video John👍👍
building this same kit. TGH Sherpa Expert kit .. I believe I heard capra links? is that right ? just making sure thanks
Capra axles with tgh sherpa links
@@HolmesHobbies thanks for the reply "chassis hands" I was just looking om TGH website and I don't see links
Is a Spool not a locker
Would the capra axles work with the scx10?
with custom links, sure
@@HolmesHobbiescustom links in length or in shape? I was thinking the links are ok it's the driveshaft that's the problem
@@barajastony0 length. Driveshafts may need cutting or longer ones too, but depends on where you put the wheelbase
WHAT ABOUT THE NEW SERVO ??? INFO PLEASE !!
just released on the website. I under rated it quite a bit, its really closer to 700oz on 4s.
I like building things. But I don't like my faulty revolver she's on her way to you somewhere out there........tell her I miss her I never got to spend much time with her.
Locker
No one wants to see the sack your hiding under the table! 80w motor oil?! Good god man, that's gear oil! Sometimes, I also use a little dab of lube on the tip for the screw. Wait, what? Technically, they're spools, since it can't disengage in a corner like a locker, but I call them lockers still. You're correct, it's a third member. You and Matt's YT videos are always the most fun to comment on. Ha!

lol!
Why you look like David cross? 🤣
"Plastic and stripping go hand in hand"......blahahahahahahahahah
lol plastic strippers ftw. dont forget your dollar bills
This guy makes traxxas look liberal with their use of grease. Omg.
Only enough needed for a skim coat! Anything beyond what is on the teeth isn't doing work.
