    Was told the long antenna had a purpose other than signal. It’s also used for clearance (parking garage, car wash…) if the the antenna doesn’t hit, you’re good.

      Have you ever been in a parking garage where a 4x4 F150 with no lift kit didn't fit? Most garages and car washes have that yellow bar that hangs at the entrance to check clearance.

      Absolutely correct about the reason for the antenna height. However, garage entrances are still a bit higher when not on an incline. But, before removing, I do recommend a garage test fit to make sure!

    I wish I would have watched this video before I bought my 2023 F150 4X4 Crew cab. I made some mistakes, and hopefully anyone who reads this saves themselves some money and don't do what I did.
    First, I bought the spray in bed liner and Tonneau cover from the dealer. That cost me $1600. I could have saved myself 50% getting them aftermarket. But the cover has a cool ford logo embossed on the leather so I go that going for me which is nice!
    Second, I paid $600 for the tire and wheel protection. I previously had a car, and I had curbed my wheels and was sick over it. But the truck has 275/60 R20 tires. I would really have to try my hardest to find a curb tall enough to wreck those wheels, so imho now that I have had the truck for a few months I wasted my money on the wheel and tire protection. I guess its not a total waste, because if I ever get a blow out, it's covered. Or if I do somehow manage to screw up a rim that is covered too
    Third, I paid for Ceramic coating from the dealer. It's a "7 year" coating and it cost me $1000 (it came with their version of scotch guard for the interior too). The reason I did this is because this truck is going to live outside, in Buffalo NY, and it is going to hopefully see at least 10 winters. I wanted make sure the paint is well protected from the salt and grime that comes with winter driving. But what I am quickly realizing is that those professional ceramic coatings are really intended for vehicles that live in a controlled environment. So unless you have Cameron's dad's 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California (it's so choice, if you have the means I highly suggest you get one) that lives it's entire life in a garage, it's just not worth it. They talk about the coating helping to prevent swirls and scratches, but it really doesn't. I already have a few light scratches into the clear coat, and I can't polish them out because it will remove the ceramic coating that I just paid $1k for. Consumer grade ceramic coatings are dirt cheap, like $20 for a spray bottle, and can be as easily applied as your standard wax and last for up to a year. If you get clear coat scratches or swirls, you can polish them out and not feel bad about it, because you can just reapply the coating to the panel after you polish it out. I could have used the money I spent on the dealer installed tonneau cover and spray in bed liner, tire and wheel protection, and the ceramic coating, and just got the whole damn truck wrapped in 3M PPF instead!
    Lastly, do not go out and buy floor liners or wheel well liners. When you buy a new ford, you get ford pass, and they give you points to spend on stuff at accessories.ford.com. I got my Truck on July 31. On August 8th they gave me 42,000 points to spend, which is exactly enough to get the F-150 Embossed front and back floor liners, They cover exactly like the Husky liners in this video. Then on August 28th, they gave me another 42,000 points (I don't know if this was a mistake on their part, or they meant to send me those points) which was just enough to get the Ford rear wheel well liners. I mean you could use your points on something else, like a year of Sirius XM or some crap, but imho that is silly. Wheel Well covers and floor covers will last the life of the vehicle. Get those instead.

    I have done all those upgrades on my 2021. I also will cover the rear bumper, painted door thresholds, and door handle cups with 3m PPF on my own.
    Since it is a painted bumper, I am also applying POR 15 to the inside and underside of the bumpers (out of view)and topping that with rubberized rocker guard. My 2019 had rust specks on the underside of the rear bumper from rock chips. I also bought a tempered class screen protector for the large touch screen. • @BoltsNBoost
      @BoltsNBoost  Před 2 lety +2

      Nope. Short antenna is great. The specific one I purchased said it had like a repeater in the antenna so reception would be better than oem.

    • @smoke05s
      @smoke05s Před rokem +1

      Generally if you listen to AM, longer is better. For FM you can get away with a shorter antenna (but longer is still better). . . If there is no 12 volts supplied to the antenna "booster" it's just some extra wire coiled up (to make it electrically longer). Generally longer is better (for reception) but for how you use it (and how most radios automatically boost weaker signals and cut down stronger ones) you might get away with a shorter one and not notice any difference. But if you live in the sticks and listen to far away stations on am or fm I would stick with the stock one.

    • @tdtommy196
      @tdtommy196 Před 10 měsíci

      I replaced mine with a crappy short one from autozone. The only thing I noticed is that when I listen to WGR 550 which is the AM sports station in Buffalo, and I pull into a parking garage, it gets slightly static, but still fine to hear. Where as with the long antenna there was no static at all. Not big enough of a deal for me to put the long antenna back on. sirius XM and FM work just fine.

    1. Air to water intercooler would be a great mod, Air to water intercooling is 13x more effective than air to air and keeps your charge air temps at a consistent temperature with out heat soaking. Which is great if you do any towing.
    2. Water meth injection, because that truck is Direct injected, they have issues with carbon build up on the back of the intake valves. I know ford updated the eco boost with Port injection for idle and low revs to alleviate the problem, but its still a bit of an issue. The water meth will keep the valves clean which will prevent you from having to do the intake valve walnut blasting service in the future. Also you could get away with running regular fuel because the meth system would artificially raise the octane level beyond premium fuel levels.
    Sadly Both mods would likely void warranty even though the engine would never come back for any potential damage due to poor fuel quality or excessive towing.

    Why bother, buying rubber mat, antenna, Ford already included rubber mat that perfectly designed for 2022 F-150, the Antenna is pretty damn cool antenna, why I think so, because I just purchased one of them 2022 F-150 Lariat space white loaded with future on it, including panoramic roof, fantastic sound system leather seat, the Truck is a gorgeous luxury Truck is powerful smooth ride, absolutely futuristic, I did not understand why some guys wanted messing around with it. I think whoever designed and the engineer that truck is must be brilliant, I’m not an engineer or truck designer, the day I purchased my Truck, I do some researches, read and listening, and watch media for that type model/Lariat before I purchased I also do spent some time to inspected myself and did a driving test with it. Before I do inspection, I took a good look that truck and I just fell in love at the first sight. And yeah…I must admit The Truck absolutely a gorgeous looking truck and it’s also a beast. I’m not going do anything with it, except that I did purchased a bed liner, mud protection, and wheel well liner and Leer power retractable Tonneau cover, that’s all I’m not going to lift or level it either I’m just going to keep original the $75 grands plus taxes and licenses is little bit over $80 grands I have not noticed if Ford missing anything to it, is a fantastic ride smooth as butter smooth maneuvering, plus as I said pretty damn futuristic for a Truck, why do I want messing around with it, I’m not engineer nor designer
