wendy's prechorus verse in psycho is one of the hardest to pull off imo. you need really good technique and wendy did that flawlessly live.
Yen i wouldn’t say it’s the hardest in this video since it’s not using chest voice, but definitely up there.

@@mooravity8140 singing using chest voice doesnt necessarily means its harder. Only a handful of artist can do the whistle note, becuase its hard and they dont use chest voice. I sing and i practiced wendy's lines a lot and its harder than most of her belting parts. You can easily go sharp or go flat 😄. Even Seulgi quite struggles on her prechorus part during their live perf. You need proper and combination of techniques to be able to pull off that part flawlessly like wendy did.

idk why people love to discredit wendy for her parts saying “it ain’t even that hard” whenever we say “her parts are so hard omg.” like? get a life? even seulgi said her parts on their songs are hard to sing and cover while she was away. her parts are given to her because those may be the hardest parts of the song and as a main vocalist, her job is to do those hard parts effortlessly, which she always does. Right now, you’re not only discrediting her technique, vocal range and talent. but her position as red velvet’s main vocalist and her efforts as well. i hate some of y’all for overlooking wendy always.

The reason why y'all kpoppies tend to underestimate wendy is because whenever she sings, she doesn't show any strain or struggle, which your faves do. She can pull off every high or low note with ease, and that's what sets her apart from everyone else.

She's visibly feeling every emotion that song is trying to convey - and only that, none of the throat veins everyone else gets because they're straining and screaming to reach the high note she reaches with ease.
Whether it's an emotional ballad like like water, when the rain stops or a haughty track like pose, you know she delivers every single time.

The best way to convey emotions in songs is by having at least a decent voice. Having a technique is a must for all vocalists. But that's something some "kpopies" ain't ready to talk about so imma just leave it here

5:02 I'll never shut up abt this whole performance. It was simple but extremely immaculate. Here, Wendy just shows her agility and how she masters all aspects.
From the vocal fry, riffs and runs, syllables choice, breathing, control and support. Everything was so on point and beautiful. The last thing she added to make it sound even better is "the feeling". She really makes that song to sound like her own, and not even a cover.
It's always hard to do a slower song without instrumental and only rely on simple guitar or piano cause if you screw up, people will definitely notice you but there, Wendy just slaps everyone and proves that she's really a gem.

I've noticed that people always love to call her "The Best Vocalist in the 3rd Generation" but wouldn't dare bring up 2nd generation or any other singers' names to compare her with simply because of... seniority? I think it's a little..... but anyway, it could also be to avoid fan wars which I guess is good.
But to get to my point, this is totally just my own opinion, I think she's better than a lot of singers in the industry, including groups that are still active, and those not. Do some people have a higher vocal range than her? Sure a few do, but do they have Wendy's vocal technique and incredible versatility? Nope. That's what makes her the best for me... her ability to conform to songs yet make them her own at the same time with total ease. She is scary good, and she'll only get better.
I agree. People don't dare mention the past generations because of their legacy I guess, but I think it's just nostalgia + people's perception that previous gens are untouchable. Wendy can compete with the main vocal of the past just fine imo. Her voice is so multi-layered and she has such beautiful tone. I bet she would have been a legend too, had she been from that era.
