I remember seeing this show on Toon Disney once as a kid and I thought it was pretty interesting. Toon Disney was like a goldmine for obscure animated shows back in the early 2000s, especially late at night. Ones I remember being on there were Gadget Boy, Blazing Dragons, Schnookums and Meat, Marsupilami, What-A-Mess, Hello Kitty and Friends, The Wizard of Oz, and The New Archies.

Gadget Boy was a ton of fun and Blazing Dragons was always a favorite of mine. Toon Disney always aired a great mix of quirky cartoons!

I see a lot of potential in this as a series that can transition into something like the book series while staying consistent to the source material. I can imagine it lasting many seasons as it improves on writing whilst making it fresh.

Somebody has put DiC's The Wizard Of Oz animated series to the Broadcast Syndication fandom page, because it was in syndicated reruns on Bohbot Entertainment's Amazin! Adventures block on Saturday Mornings on the local stations of Fox, independent and the original big three networks (NBC, CBS and ABC) from fall 1992 to fall 1993.

I liked watching this series Saturday mornings in the early 90’s (1990-1991) on ABC 7 WJLA when I was in Maryland around that period and in local reruns as part of the children''s then-programming block Amazin! Adventures on early Saturday mornings 6:00am on Fox 24 WTAT in South Carolina for a time in 1993. I also watched it when HBO also aired reruns of the show later in the 90's, and lastly on Toon Disney from 1998 until 2002.

I would love to see you review 1981s "The Marvelous land of Oz" It's a musical and I feel like if oz were to follow the story books then that is the perfect mix of musical and book accurate stories. It still has tin man and scarecrow as well. Dorothy would show back up in story #3.
I also like Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz the 2017-2020 cartoon. As it kind of fits that feel. But personally I feel Oz would work well in a TV format With musical numbers each episode. If you were to follow the books. But sadly no one has tried to bring Oz to life since Return to Oz In a way that doesnt just "Retread" the 1939 film.
When I tell people that Oz is a series of books Modern millennial and gen xers really do not know about it. It seems that after baums death and the 39 film only so many people cared about Oz outside of the 39 movie.
I think return to Oz is a good film as well. But I think it has SEVERE flaws. Return to Oz is legitimately frightening. But at the same time its combination of Book 2 and 3 I feel Complicates things. While I feel Kids love to be scared " Look at FNAF/Goosebumps" the idea that return to Oz was a sequel to the 39 film was a HUGE mistake by marketing. They really should have focused on pushing the "Bringing the pages of the story book to life" and pushed children to read.
I think the perfect Oz is something that is fun, adventurous. A little spooky and Musical. Musicals have been part of Oz since 1902 and I feel are integral to the story telling. Oh and Queer It needs to have queerness. Oz is queer atleast baum and Neills Oz. Ozma and dorothies love and tin man and scarecrows partnership.
I think what hurts the most about return to Oz is its chance and denial of Telling Tip/Ozmas story. I'm transgender and I love ozma as a queer person. but her trans nature is erased by implying she is just the Oz version of Dorothy.

This isn't the only perfect sequel. Watch the 2017 Dorothy & The Wizard of Oz cartoon. It's not serialized though, and isn't exactly a direct sequel. Also, Dorothy looks abd sounds more like her intended age

The entire series is on youtube, im assume you know that, as thats probably where you got the clips. But I did try to get into it, but it just wasn't for me. While I respect the movie, ive never been a huge fan of it. I saw this movie countless times throughout my life. My earliest memory of being exposed to this actually goes back to pre-school, where it was shown to our class. And also throughout elementary school. And I've seen it countless more times just by happenstance. I have family members who really enjoy the movie as well as The Wiz, and it's watched at holiday family gatherings. And out of the dozens if not hundreds of times ive seen it, if you also include The Wiz, I've never particularly loved it. I don't hate it. I would say I'm more indifferent than anything.
