He was 33. She was 18. She's not crazy. This is an anthem. She tapped into the well of rage just below the surface in every woman ever f*d over by an older more powerful man when we were young...told to shut up and be "nice". She gave us all a voice.

@CottilionTheRope how was she a victim more than anyone that got used by someone? Guys, girls, we all get used all the time. Money, looks, what you can give them. Their age has nothing to do with it, I've seen guys and girls both get used and left dry.. myself included. You have to learn your lesson and learn the red flags and make different choices in the future

True lol. After my husband was cheating and we split up, I found myself listening to Jagged Little Pill one night, signing my heart out, packing & throwing out his shit. It was like a closure ritual, it just helped me let go of those emotions. I then drove to the beach & waded in the warm waters as I watched the sun come up & drove home like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. It's strange but I legit feel grateful to Alanis for giving me that outlet.

I get the whole story but she's not a victim. She got her heart broken like everybody else at some point. It makes for great songs, but "Joey from Full House" isn't a monster who wielded power over a hapless victim. He tried it out, it wasn't what he wanted, he moved on. Guys have as much ground to just say no as any female. She's not a victim. That's the point.
I'm a woman. I'm not interested in the sisterhood nonsense. I love the song. I love Alannis. Wasn't a big FH fan either way. But the drama that this caused with the "who's the secret lover" was retarded. He dumped her. Sh*t happens. He's not the villain so don't make him out to be. GenX girls are nuts anyway and still neurotic to this day......hence where "Karen" came from. And don't come at me with your pitchforks. Not gonna change a thing.

I miss that freedom of expression, emotion & just pure honesty in music. There's some nowadays but back then it was everywhere & accepted by the mainstream. It helped untold millions get through so many difficulties in life. For example, this album sold 33 million copies worldwide, was nominated for 9 grammys, won best album of the year & is one of the best selling albums of all time....She was 21... It was Dave Coulier, who was one of the hottest actors in Hollywood at the time. She was 18 and just getting started. In any event, he was driving somewhere, listening to the radio when the song came on. He said the voice sounded familiar, and as he listened, he recognized some of the phrases... Mr Duplicity during the middle of dinner.... because that had happened. He then said it occurred to him that, 'I might have hurt that girl'. I also recommend 'Uninvited'. Funny how she scares most men..... and how most women identify to the song/sentiment.

OMG! This made my day, my week! I literally grew up only listening to hiphop, and in my group of friends if you said you listened to rock (or other) you'd be laughed at and ridiculed, so I never really knew any other music. Then when I was 16-17 we moved to Europe and it was just around the time Alanis came out big on MTV, and I somehow ended up with her album Jagged Little Pill..... and I loved it! I played it over and over. It was the first time in my life I didn't listen to hiphop and my mind opened up to listening to other music. I can thank Alanis for opening my mind to other music actually. As a teen we loved this angry empowered "boss girl" music, haha.... it was the Anthem for girls growing up in the 90s, and especially after a break up, along with the lesser known "Nobody's Wife" by Anouk. That's why there's a whole generation of us who were in totally dysfunctional relationships, haha. We thought that it was what relationships were supposed to be like. It's funny because in those days listening to angry songs like this was normal stuff, and now in hindsight, and the way the world is today, I'm like: "wtf, this is some seriously disturbing stuff" haha. That being said, one of the greatest albums of all time imo.

I remember driving & this song would come on the radio. I'd crank up the volume & sing right along. Jagged Little Pill is 1 of my favorite albums. ML&R

I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan by any stretch, but she has one of the best true voices (not altered or pitch corrected) in the world today. She can sit with someone playing acoustic and will blow you away.

Oh the angst of the early 90’s!! This whole album is fire!
