By not having a car, I'm honestly able to save enough money to travel abroad. It isn't just the gas, insurance, maintenance, etc. on the car itself but it also prevents me from getting to restaurants and stores so readily. How many people absently buy food or items or a cup of coffee all the time and don't think twice because the car allows them that accessibility? When I have to walk, bike, or take bus/Uber to get somewhere it allows me time to think about how much I REALLY need this item and, ultimately, I decide I don't need it. That money goes towards a vacation.
I didn’t get my license in my teens in Illinois because of the traffic back then in the 80’s. I waited in my late 20’s to get it in Wisconsin. I even gotten my first car in mid October 1999. So that was my courage in getting my license. I took the driver’s test twice. I failed the first one by 2 points. I passed the 2nd one.
Expensive and anxiety.... Adults can do something about both but its easier to complain about kids
A 16 year old boy not wanting to drive.
Speaks volumes for western civilization😂
Incomprehensible to a boomer.
I’m 21 and don’t drive because I’m afraid that I’ll get in a wreck and that I’ll be the victim of someone’s road rage
0:20 Every news station I’ve seen uses this
I am a 47 year old bicycle commuter in Alabama what is wrong with a bicycle way cheaper than owning a car $1,300 vs $40,000 to do the same thing
How do you ride your bike to work when there is snow, it is raining, or it is cold outside
@@RavensFan634The same way about a billion and a half people around the world do it every day....wear a rain jacket.
@@RavensFan634I rode my bike through blizzards and over a foot of snow to get to and from work.
im 25 and I regret getting my license, I freaking hate driving and simply refuse to
These stats don't mean much without context to location, livability, and other factors.
Urban areas with high congestion and great public transport (trains, rideshares, bikes) have demographics with the privilege and lack of need for a vehicle, especially an expensive one.
People can have emotional issues regarding driving, since drivers can be reckless..especially when the aversion is detrimental to someone living in a suburb or rural area where driving is almost necessary for day-to-day function..yet they would rather sacrifice their quality of life in fear of getting into a car crash.
Economic reasons, like inflation-to-(stagnant) wage ratio have basically been addressed as well. Why pay insurance, gas and maintenance bills..as well as tolls and stickers and taxes on a vehicle? It's just not feasible.
"Why would i learn to drive when someone else can do it for me?" Thats insane
That’s literally what every person on the planet thinks, owning cars is a useless expense forced upon Americans because the rich don’t want to contribute to society
24 and no DL
If everyone on the road thinks there's not enough traffic and way, way too many empty parking spaces they only need to say so.
No one cares to drive I’m 22 so …
I’m 26, I have attempted driving once at 21 and finally at 25. I can say that it’s not for me. It’s really difficult given the amount of concentration it takes. Plus not all roadways are the same.
@@yungalucard9139 i agree but I’m still trying to get it at least I have it in the end if no care .
So you just mooch rides? Good luck as all your "friends" fade a way
@@yungalucard9139 But driving is a necessity, having to pay Uber/Lyft often , when you could pay for your own gas in your own car would feel much better. There’s gonna be a point in your life where you are gonna be tired of relying on other people, as a 26 year old there’s no way you are happy without a drivers license 😂😂I mean there’s no way you can rely on your parents or your friends to get you to places. So if there’s an emergency and you can’t go anywhere what are you gonna do? Just a thought
most things i am old school about and i like to see children growing into adults re: all the usual "rites of passage" but when it comes driving the fewer people behind the wheel better. humanity needs to get off motor vehicles / driving altogether
LOL You live out in a rural area like i do further away from town. Then motor vehicles are more of a prefer way of getting around.
Driving is stupid i domt want my license
@@bossvaro3844Uber is considerably cheaper than driving. I've been able to visit over 25 countries with the money that I would have been pissing away on a car
@bossvaro3844 Okay, you're paying for gas, repairs, constant maintenance. But no! It's so crazy to walk or bike!
@@whoa_NellyI get it, but if you just know the basic steps of cars and engineering.. maybe it could be a benefit because you would buy a part for only 50$ or 10$, while at a repair shop you would have to pay thousands of dollars, I am just passing by so I’m just going to carry on now.
This was a really interesting news report.
Driving is a privilege, not a right and it's very, very, very expensive.
My age Gen Z don’t seek to understand that because there parents pay for it
Funnily enough, I may be losing more money from having and maintaining my vehicle from actually using it to get to and from work and run my daily errands. Oh, life's subtle ironies..
I got my license in 2003 at age 22 and was hardly driving since I was in my home state of New Jersey and had public transportation everywhere. In 2016, I moved to Florida and still was not driving until 2020 when my stepdad died and my mom gave me lessons to relearn how to drive in rural areas and to ease the burden off of her picking me up and taking me to work. She already had an emeregency twice that I had to take her to the hospital at home since she fell and I took off work to take her there. My first accident though was in 2022 when a driver ran a 4 way stop sign and thankfully it wasn't my fault and I had a witness even though I called the cops and they never came since the day it happened was 2 days after Ian. Thankfully I had the witness.
“Gen Z doesn’t want to drive” is just “millennials are killing the magazine industry” all over again
Exactly I have school to worry about, that’s why I still live with my parents and probably will for a few years. I have to build up my money and experience before I leave and driving will have to wait 😭
