The song isn't off. Palomar voice doesn't suit the song that's all she's got a quirky voice . Tom can sing anything he just has that booming voice. I love the song always have done anyone can sing it I love it.
Actually took the time to listen to Paloma singing some of her own music and I'd say that this song is just too low pitched to suit the way she places her voice, at a higher pitch it makes her vocals brighter and helps her cut through the instrumental parts. In this range it sounds a bit like she's trying to do an impression of Amy Winehouse with a hint of Kermit the frog, it doesn't do her justice, maybe she could've pitched it an octave higher, I don't know...

Yep, Bloody terrible. I am a professional musician so know a little about music, and international music also, I have worked all around the world for over 35 years. The musical backing for this so called "performance" is terrible, especially given there is a full orchestra. The sound engineering leaves a lot to be desired, which is harsh, but usually live shows like these award shows are engineered flawlessly. And Tom Jones backing group, which makes up most musicians directly behind failed miserably with this song. Their sound at times was too overpowering, and ruined the vocals, again due to poor sound engineering., but they seemed to be out of their depth as well doing this song.Too harsh I hear you say? Maybe so, but this show isn't some local television production with second and third rate performers guest appearing. It is supposed to be professional and slick, clearly on this occasion it failed,
I wondered when someone would address that issue. If the band isn't playing it in the right key then how do people expect the singers to keep up? It's not brain surgery.... all they had to do was play it right. Poor Tom Jones... he's a great singer and he was singing it in the right note... Paloma looked lost so she just stopped trying to fit the words into the music score. What a disaster.

Paloma was the wrong "fit" for this duet with Sir Tom. Sally Barker would have been perfection as her wondrous voice blends so well with Tom's.

Between the band playing off key, Tom Jones struggling to stay in tune with the band and Paloma not knowing the words and certainly not sounding her best with Tom Jones and a band that's playing off key...I'd say that was the most painful performance I've ever heard. She's so much better singing with Ty Taylor.... Tom has been around for decades and knows that song like the back of his hand but even he must of been elated when it finally ended. Love Paloma Faith and Tom Jones just not together and not singing this song. God only knows what the BBC was thinking pairing these 2.

I think that's what they were saying, there wasn't any music in her voice. I have heard her sing better, and to give her the benefit of the doubt, she sounded as if the key was too low for her. I know from my own experience, trying to sing in the wrong key can be fateful.
I'd check her stuff out if I were you mate. She's actually very good.
