    Excellent, I love how you built under desk mounts for your HOTAS. The center position of the stick is perfect for DCS planes and helicopters. I have been looking at aluminum profile to build something like this. But, as you have shown, wood is more cost effective and easier to work with. Great idea! I am going to build something similar. Thanks for posting the video.

  • @DouglasNWhite
    @DouglasNWhite Před 7 lety +1

    Thanks for sharing this idea.
    I built a set based loosely on your design. I attached the middle portion of the "Z" arm, outboard of the top and bottom arms, using carriage bolts (washers, lock washers, and wing nuts). I created a series of parallel holes in that middle arm at about 3/4 inch apart, t so that I could adjust the height and angles of the control.
    I LOVED your idea of being able to slide the Throttle unit deep underneath the desk when not in use.
    My observation is that I am a better pilot with the controls off the top of the desk. It is all more natural.

    I agree with sandspar. This could become a thing. I am no carpenter, and I bet plenty of people are not either, so this would sell in my opinion. I would buy it easily haha. After spending upwards of 400-500 on this stick, a few bucks for this sort of set up from someone like yourself would be an easy buy with minimal thinking involved. I really loved when your screen moved closer as well, that caught me off guard, very cool. You should also consider going to a local flight school, or FBO and getting one of the kneeboards they sell to pilots. When I fly real planes (when I'm not simming) I use a fantastic kneeboard with a pen clip at the top of it and a nice tight strap. Cheers :)

    Hey man thanks for sharing your design, I'm currently in the process of building my own mounts from your design but I've hit a hurdle which may force me to scrap the build. What type of wood is your desk made from? Mine is made from particleboard and ABS plastic (details from the website) and is only 18mm thick so I'm not sure it will be strong enough to support the joystick and throttle
