Well narrated and film 🎞 edited. 👍👍
Chevy knows how to make an amazing exhaust note! I could listen to this ALL DAY! Their Camaros & Corvettes sound👌
Agreed! It’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥
"It's got the capability to crush the souls of hypercar owners at the race track." Yes.
I'd love to do that, too. It wouldn't take much effort with this thing.
Thank you 1000 times for not playing horrible music or talking over the engine sound/driving clips. Also thank you for focusing on performance instead of complaining about how the dash "feels" or other pointless things most journalists gripe about on performance cars. Awesome video!
Thanks. That’s all because unlike a handful of other media folks, I might be able to actually drive and appreciate that experiencing the car is what it’s all about. I’m not interested in the window switches or what kind of plastics they use. Glad you enjoyed.
Berzerkrobot you spoke my mind nearly word for word!
I love hearing to downshifts in the corvette. Sounds better than most supercars. Corvette should become it's own performance brand, it's unlike any other chevy out there.
Zl1 Camaro....?
@@alaskanasassin1 Lol right? Same drive train with a slightly smaller blower.
OwenSpalding same drivetrain as the Z06 not the ZR1 but that’s literally it. The suspension platforms are entirely different.
@@wolfie54321 i have a C5,and it only has the vette logos no chevy logos anywere not even on the rims
Save the manuals. Amen brother!!
What a sound!!! That’s amazing.
I'm a simple man. I see "2019 ZR1 Corvette" and I click! This car is a modern day American MASTERPIECE! Well done and bravo for going with the manual and bravo for the no-nonsense review. Subscribed!
Cheers, thanks, tell your friends!
You legitimately made one of the best reviews I've seen of the new ZR1 with amazing footage + editing + sound + specs... Nice man!!
Thanks. Appreciate it. Tell your friends!
One of the best reviews I have ever watched since 2005!
Thanks! Don’t tell me, tell your friends!
Adam Bernard like those from Saturday mornings.
Brian, if you ever get the opportunity to take a ZR1 to the track, please film the event so us poor slobs can ride along. Thanks and have a great week!
Thanks for watching! I almost ran it at Fontana, but ran out of time. We did track the Z06! Still, I’d love to track the ZR1 to fully explore the thing and get acquainted with all of that aero.
This review reaffirms my faith in the automotive industry. On to the mid-engine Corvette!
What? You’re kidding!
@@BrianMakse c'mon Brian, you gotta know that the C8 ZR1 (or whatever they'll call it) will have staggering performance. I do, however, understand that the 2019 ZR1 is the pinnacle of rear drive excitement, period, full stop. Love Mosport. Lapped there many times although not enough.
@@glennwiebe5128 that was an inside joke. I was at the launch of the C8, though, somehow, I still haven't driven it. We are still a LONG way from seeing a C8 ZR1. Corvettes are indeed the best car for Mosport.
ZR1 a true supercar.
It’s near hypercar, if not there.
In terms of performance, yes. But it’s still a Sports Car.
Goes to show that Chevy knows what they’re doing.
@@BrianMakse to slow to be a hyper car
The.#1 T nobody is going to take you serious if you can’t even use the proper version of “too”. Anyway, this is a super car, no doubt about it. The Stingray and the Z06 are sports cars. At least you didn’t call it a muscle car, those people infuriate me haha.
@@MichiganMan1994 how the fuel consumption on this car for example a 2019 Corvette zr1
Nice review. I ordered a torch red one 4 months ago and it’s in transit now. I recently had a 2016 Z06 and I’m so excited for the ZR1 thanks for the good review.
god i wish i made that kind of money
@@1972ChevySupernova It's not necessarily having a lot of money, but being smart and budgeting what you do have. Keeping yourself out of debt and paying off any you do accrue quickly goes a long way to boost your credit, which in turn lowers rates for future loans when you want to buy something like a new 'Vette.
@@TheFishE77Official the car starts at $121,000 so yes you have to have a lot of money to afford this thing
Very cool Matt , wow that's gonna be incredible....ENJOY!!!

The best 2019 ZR1 review, very informative and great video quality

Good job on this review. You were very thoughtful, but thorough as well. I really enjoyed listening to you, with the mighty Corvette providing the aggressive background music.
Thanks! We’re glad you enjoyed and appreciated this one.
Great footage and especially love the sound you captured.
Thanks. Glad it was worth the effort.
Awesum review Brian! And YES,, we're sooo frigg'n envious!
Great review Brian. You captured the essence of the “Big Dog” Corvette and covered all the points in a clean and tightly-edited 15 minutes. Video and sound: 5 stars.
BTW, your review of the Grand Sport last year helped push me over the edge into bringing one home. You were spot-on in that review as well: what a fun and satisfying car it is. I’m giggling like a maniac every time I go for a drive. Save the manuals and thanks old buddy!
Same here. It was his video that convinced me. Loving mine.
Hey Brian. I haven't kept up with your videos ever since we agreed to a challenge on the track between you in the Z06 and me in the Z/28. Good to see you're still putting quality content out there
Thanks! I’m still good to go any time!
Great job Brian. First time watching you and great explanations on the most important things about the car.
Thanks, but don't tell me, tell your friends!
Amen to all that! after owning mine for five years, (yes 7sp,ZTK) it’s exactly how you described it. Only 6600 miles on it right now, but every one of them is a huge smile on my face.. and will be for a long time. Great video, BTW, editing amd production top-notch.
Thanks! Great car!
I am in the process of buying one with just over 3K miles. It is an A8 but I am excited nonetheless. 💪🇺🇸
Love the large amounts of sound bites!
There's no doubt - it's King of the Hill! Thanks for sharing
I like that he pushed the car and used some driver skill to provide the review. Most YT reviewers drive the car down a city street and punch the gas for 3 seconds then back off. This car was given a workout and then it got reviewed. Nice.
That's the difference between our channel and 99.9% of others right there.
the car is so great it lives in the future
Great video as always.
Love the review. Love the car. Just wish mine was here already, can’t wait to drive it and hear that rev matching exhaust note. It is perfect
Kudos for THE BEST REVIEW of the ZR1 I've seen, straight facts, no BS, to the point. I subscribed AND clicked the BELL, which suggests EVERYONE DOES... More success to you Sir‼️🇺🇸😃👍🏽
Thanks, but don't tell me, tell your friends.
This channel is awesome, why didn't I find this before? 😍
We're still not an overnight success...
Watching this review was an awesome treat after meeting you in person today. I don't recall a more professional, informative, or higher quality review or CZcams production than the one I just enjoyed, this one. Seeing my local neighborhood on the "BigScreen" was pretty neat also. Keep up the good work. My wife asked "Where do we place the order and who do we send the check to."
Thanks, Dick! Great to meet you! See you next time!
What a monster...
And a great corvette 😂
Love the rolling shots on Angeles Crest! Good job. 👍
Not Angeles Crest!
Nice job with the review. I own an '18 Corvette Grand Sport and love it!
Thanks. Did you catch our GS review?
@@BrianMakseyes, I get around.
Great video!
Thank you for another great video as always Brian.
I would really be curious to have this compared to a Callaway Z06. The ZR1 is a little heavier than the Callaway with less torque. Have a great weekend!
Thanks! I'd love to try a modern Callaway.
Very informative review- thank you!
Thanks, but don’t tell us, tell your friends.
With the exception of the music and sound effects a very good video.
What sound effects?
I have a friend who just took delivery on his new ZR1. It's exactly like the one in this review and I can attest,
it's one awesome machine although I would personally prefer another color.
Uh, did you catch what we said about the colour?
@@BrianMakse
Yes, I heard it.
The drab colors are very popular right now, but I'm old school.
I like flashy rims and bright colors to go along with my horsepower.
My favorite handgun is my nickel plated Colt 45 revolver with pearl handles...LOL.
I hear ya, Hornet1..My C5 is mag red, and I love the color.
I think all the colors chevy chose look great on the ZR1. This one looks like it's straight out of Gotham with almost a batman feel
Some days, I can't believe I actually own a C3 (my favorite style, even though they''re ~40 years old)
Great review! My ZR1 goes into production early next month. Should have it by mid January. I can hardly wait!!
Congrats! What spec did you get?
Brian Makse, I went with a Blade Silver, 3ZR, manual transmission and low wing. It’s gonna be awesome!
Great review
Don’t tell us, tell your friends!
😂that is a dream that started over 50 years and 5 corvettes ago a wife that never lets you go you r in luv 4 lifeZR1❤❤❤❤❤
What about a wife? I’m pretty sure my wife drove this ZR1.
Very good video!
AWESOME car! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
AMAZING and made perfect in that manual! Great review!
Glad you liked it!
@@BrianMakse Thanks. With the C8 out now I appreciate the C7 ZR1 with a manual even more.
@@malcolmar such a properly wild car. I still argue that the C7 Grand Sport is the sweet spot for all modern Corvettes.
Awesome car great review
Brian, C7 ZR1 is the greatest platform of all Corvettes not to say less about other Corvettes, there all GREAT, but C7 ZR1.... The BEST. Thanks for the video.
I did 1100 miles all over SoCal with this thing. Can't ever forget that drive. In terms of its potential, I can't disagree. For me, I'd go C7 GS. Drove it on the same roads and it was beautifully balanced for my tastes. Coincidentally, I also drove the same roads with the C8 FWIW...
I have a 2016 Z06 with a manual racing yellow it's a blast I couldn't imagine how much trouble I could get into with the ZR1
That’s the go straight to jail kind of trouble.
Once again awesome review. That car definitely isn’t my cup of tea but your production is so good I can’t stop watching. Brian Cooley at the roadshow, all the good people at auto guide, Motoman, the Hooniverse , etc ( their are only a few good more ) are all good but They weren’t racecar drivers! That’s the content that I would like to view. A professional no BS review from someone who’s experienced enough to talk about it. Not to mention Half of the other guys I’m sure have way bigger budget then you do. Before you I could really only watch savage geese videos. What motor trend is doing with Randy Pobst is a crime!!! I’m ranting I know....I just appreciate you keep on doing what you’re doing its fantastic!
Thanks - but don’t tell us, tell your friends! And, yes, everyone has a bigger budget than we do. Currently sitting at the one of the same locations as ZR1, but in something considerable more spendy.
Loved it!!!
I got to have it!!!
Those downshifts sound awesome.
Glad you enjoyed.
Fantastic car, great vid
Thanks, Pete. Tell your friends!
I had to watch this after being underwhelmed by a test drive video of the new C8. The 2019 ZR1 is much more pleasing to my ears.👍
All I can say is beware of useless CZcams channels. When I get a C8 in, expect a proper review.
@@BrianMakse I hope you're right. I'll be looking for it.
The great thing about Vettes is that you can option a manual transmission where most others now only come with flappy paddles.
Omg this is amazing!
How the hell do you only have 20k subs? You need to collab with some big youtubers in the automotive game. I follow all of them and somehow missed you until today.
Good question Owen, but you're preaching to the choir. One of the missing links is we get always viewers here praising what we do, but don't bother sharing our vids.
A ZR1 review without the commensurate lost of ,"but" caveats at the expense of celebrating iits prodigious capabilities at its price point! Huzzah! Great review
Best car ever made,best lines,best sound..incredible
Great review Brian! Fantastic car! However I listened to a very good friend & purchased a new Grand Sport. This fills all my needs, and is the best Vette I have been lucky to own.
There’s a 98% chance I’d have given you the same guidance!
Hi Brian. Thanks so much for sharing another great video. It might be the last manual Corvette, is it right?
Thanks, Jerry! Great question. Based on everything I know and a little intuition, I don’t think so. I think Corvette has a whole bunch of intelligent enthusiasts on board and I would wager real money on the C8 having a manual.
Hi Brian, I am so glad to hear that. It's great to talk to you again. @@BrianMakse
Kudos to your camera skills! #SaveTheManual
Thanks. It's all the mad skills I learned from Nick.
Great review!! I think if i had the cash id just get a grand sport trim and call it good.
That’s not a bad way to go, at less than half the price of this one. The GS is brill.
Amazing ride-a-long.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed.
love the ZR1 no question, but I listened to a good friend who is extremely knowledgeable. He strongly suggested the Grand Sport. I listened and ordered a new one. There is approximately 7000 miles on it now and I just love it. Thank you.
Did you catch our GS review?
They should have gave the GS about 500hp not 460
Hope this note finds you enjoying a fantastic day. Just received your reply. I agree 100%. I was lucky enough to drive a new grand sport for two days at Spring Mountain. The car could have used a lot better driver as its capabilities are far beyond mine. Just a little more HP would have been nice only on the straights.. We are enjoying our new GS....... keep smiling
Bill Thompson am going after a Zo6 this summer or fall have a 2014 SS Camaro name Vader i love it
Hi Jordon I have driven the Z06 for a couple of weeks thanks to a good friend and the car is a beast. However with the average guys like me driving it I know I will beat the Z06 on the track with my grand sport just because it is 100% more user friendly. The Z06 is too unpredictable for me........but man it is a beast! keep smiling
So happy this review was with a manual.
Yeah, me too.
loved the review ! shes's a beauty, she's a detroit girl, drinks beer, do a shot of bourbon, and kick the ass of the super high maintainence, super expensive euro queens.
Agreed!
Amazing video once again Mr. Makse, I do really wished you uploaded more! I have noticed as of recently it has been lacking. What gives?
I'd love to do more, but our CZcams numbers and our Patreon support don't come close to me sacrificing my other business interests for this.
@@BrianMakse Ah understandable, my apologies! Thank you. :)
@@BrianMakse If you're comfortable with sharing, I do would like to follow whatever business interests suits you. Best of luck!
Appreciate your interest. What I do professionally is very different and totally separate from what I do here. And nowhere near as heart-pumping as shagging a ZR1 on some killer roads - which is the way I like it!
NICE!!!
Awesome review Brian , thanks ! PS. Finally I got my Camaro 3.6L RS ;-)
Who cares!
Those who have not and will never ever have one ? ;-)
You’re really good at this, very natural. Mu only criticism the voice over sound quality is iffy to my, kinda boomy and and weirdly compressed. Perhaps a better mic will resolve it
Appreciate your feedback, but I have to ask what kind of speakers you’re using to listen to CZcams?
Good morning Brian - I just purchased a non-ZTK car (low wing), you mentioned you would talk about it in the video, but I may have missed it? Absolutely love the video, great work! If you have any thoughts between the packages, I would love to hear them! Merry Christmas to you and yours! (sorry I'm two years late to the party!)....Kevin
Congrats, Kevin! IIRC I think ZTK is relevant if you track your car, if not, enjoy it as it is. Even if you do track it, you have to possess and incredibly high skill set to take advantage of it. Wonderful car. Congrats again and Merry Christmas to you!
@@BrianMakse again, Merry Christmas to you and yours too! Subscribed, liked....and greatly appreciated! I will probably never track it, but it will see some "spirited driving" for sure. I had a Katech C6 Z06 manual that I could never keep up with (although I am a manual purist), so the ZR1 is the automatic. Would really love to hear your opinion on that subject too. Thanks again for the exceptional unbiased video - I will certainly look for more!
@@kevsls7 thanks for dropping in on this, Kevin. It's been great to revisit this video. I had way too much fun with this car. 1,100 miles IIRC.
Based on what you're saying, you'll enjoy with spec and you won't miss anything. Check to see if Matt Farah said anything about the ZR1 auto, I didn't get to drive it.
I'm guessing GM doesn't appreciate my unbiased reviews because I still haven't driven the C8, but we've just finished shooting a bunch of great content on those same roads you see in this episode.
I’m glad you said it. Thank you Chevy for putting a 7spd Manual and for it being a Tremec TR6070 nonetheless!
It needs to be said. Cheers.
Imagine Pantera's Vulgar Display of power on the radio while driving this... That's fitting.
Haha yeah 🤘🏻🥁
Awesome! What are the paddles for on the manual?
Rev matching on/off. It’s the same wheel as the automatic car. Strange, but true.
just found your channel, good review. you seem to know what you're talking about. coming from porsche gt3 which is too expensive for me to track, thinking of dipping a toe into corvette world looking at used z06 vs zr1.. trying to understand if there is a valuable difference to consider. is it one of those cars which is too fast to enjoy driving at road speeds? is it too fast for most tracks? i'm close to laguna seca and sonoma. thanks
Quite sincerely, the Grand Sport is my favourite of the bunch of C7s. At Sonoma, you'd eat everyone's lunch in a ZR1, but that's not the point, is it? The GS is a perfectly balanced package IMO. There's enough power to enjoy, but there's enough left to challenge your abilities. The ZR1 is a perfect buttercup on the road, assuming you're prudent with the throttle.
I have to drive it I now have it at the top of my bucket list I hope I get to drive one or at least ride in one
Awesome!
You're awesome!
I have a ZR1

Thank God for the Corvette
Long live the Manual
That’s right.
@ T U: You write: "Long live the Manual". I ask you: "Why"? The automatic in the ZR1 needs 2,9 secs from 0-60, the manual 3,2 sec. ... Furthermore, all racing cars are equipped with paddle shifters and two pedals since many years. In Formula 1 the last car with a manual started in 1994 (!). Imagine Louis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel in a F1-car with a manual ... just ridicolous. McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari and even Porsche do not build any more sportscars with manuals. So, except the so called "fun" to drive a manual and to travail with three pedals but only two feet and the chance to chose by mistake the wrong gear in a street racing fight, tell me please, what is so exciting about manuals?
Helmuth Meier for the Love of Mercy Shut the fuck up
@ Brian Makse: I want to change gears manually by myself too, but only with paddle shifters. It's much quicker than a puristic manual stick and three pedals. All modern cars in IMSA, Formula 1 and even rallye cars have only two pedals. If puristic manuals were better, so why do professionals don't use them any more in their respective racing series?
@@helmuthmeier9635
As for me, I'll go with the auto.
Incredible car. I just wish it had more of the supercharger whine. While it sounds amazing, I think the whine would just add “something”. Much like the Hellcat, that thing sounds impressive.
what's amazing to me is it sounds like the 60's corvette road racers
It sounds even better.
Thanks Brian. Seems like you really don't need to do anything to it. Good as is!
Brilliant car. Tester was the wrong colour.
@@BrianMakse Is it better to have a non-descript color to avoid attention?
@@amill1563 A Corvette is a Corvette, regardless of colour, and a ZR1 gets plenty of attention. This colour is boring.
Sure shifts alot. Just leave it in the lower gear and let it rev it can handle a few revs.
My thoughts exactly but he did say he was an accomplished race car driver at the beginning of the video....
The manual ZR1 can reach the usual 60 mph speed limit in 1st gear. Crazy!
@@Sprocketboy1956 I'd hope so. My Camaro tops out at 55 in first gear at 7,200rpm.
@Brewster Baker If you are not doing Heel and Toe, double clutch downshifts you might as well be taking public transportation.
I think he was showing off the rev matching on all those downshifts, it does sound awesome!

With that much power, I get the feeling I'd be frustrated not letting the engine breathe on twisty roads, because the thing is so damn fast! Hit redline one time and you are most likely WAY over the speed limit and get sense the its trying to kill you. heh
And yes, thank you for continuing to build the Vette with a manual. It's not like I'd be drag racing people in the first place, but I do love backroad bashing! With the manual it's plenty fast as it is!
That's exactly how I felt much of the time. However, it's easy to drive, assuming you have some skills, and it doesn't want to kill you ever. It's a big pussycat, like I said.
@@BrianMakse Yeah, I have have an SCCA background, but it's been a couple of years since my last event. These days it's mostly autocross stuff. One of my favorites was back in ~1983 when I had a brand new Mustang GT and ran F-prepared. I modified the engine -- cam, heads, intake, carb, gutted the pollution control crap and swapped out the TRX wheel/tire combo for Enkei wire mesh wheels with Pirelli P7s. That race was in Joplin Missouri where they closed off the downtown streets for the race. This wasn't your typical parking lot autocross. Loved it!
