It really is amazing... literally zero respect in the first 2 games. Mashing dash and mediums into easy confirms. GAWWWWD LIKE.
Jumping heavy into forward heavy into heavy special (3 button inout impossible to mess up combo) into 50/50 oki medium normals. GAAAAAWD LIKE.
Fang needing to space near perfect, react to random and hopeful lights into full punishes which are hard af or kill you if miss timed even by a few frames. Meh mediocre play.
The more skilled player lost imo because Punk is GAAAAAAWD LIKE. Well made game btw.
Is fang still considered low tier? He’s mid tier in my view extremely solid and he me of the hardest characters to deal with.

Punk is still the GOAT when it comes to Karin players, but this was an amazing set. Props to Mono for pulling it off, especially after getting swept 3-0. The adaptions were so on point.

I love how people say you're washed up, finishing second. It's an interesting dynamic, being so great, that anything but complete success is a failure. Gotta be a heavy burden.
Dude is still getting top 8, more consistent than most "pro" players and he's washed up. Heavy lies the crown.
And this wasn't punk only placing in CEO, he literally placed top 8 in 3 events. Taking 4th in marvel and guilty gear.
Props to mono of course, he was always a strong fang player, and even rocking m. Bison back in sf4 days.
But I feel that punk started to fall apart in the first game of the bracket set. He didn't confirm his low medium punch and he should of won that game. But mono took it and after that, punk didn't look like the punk that reset the bracket 3-0

Mono played amazingly after the reset, that FANG offensive pressure is really wacky and difficult to deal with and he applied it very well.
Punk pre reset played really well too but the booing and pressure really got to him like it usually does, damn.

Yeah it felt like he fell apart after the first game after the reset, I think he missed the confirm on the low medium punch and mono won. After that game he lost, everything just went downhill for punk and mono def played amazing to take it 3-0

In these times, I feel like Punk plays Karin a little too careful. He doesn't use overheads or frame traps when in v trigger, or any other gimmicks. Wish he would improve on his Cammy instead of Vega for these type of matchups. I feel like this is not much different from the Dhalsim matchup.

I'll tell ya what happened... mono was too defensive and trying to zone... it dont work on punk! Like who zones punk wtf? .. then after reset, mono realized he can't zone or play with a lot of respect to punk... then he started playing fang in an offensive way, punk didn't adapt on time, momentum covered mono and he won abusing this pressure he had on his ability... great set

Heard about Mono's story and came here to watch. As someone who doesn't watch fighting game tourneys, why doesn't every KO count as point? I'm a little lost.

Basically each game is composed of a best of 3 rounds, meaning you need 2 KOs out of 3 to take a game. The whole set itself is a best of 5 games. Once someone has taken a round you'll usually see a "V" next to the timer in the top middle.

Punk can't handle the pressure. That has always been his Achilles hill. Managing pressure psychologically is a big part of playing any game . Once you're opponent has beaten you psychologically the game is over.
I see a lot of people clowning Punk for losing in a Grand Finals a lot. The fact that he makes it to Grand Finals A LOT is impressive in itself. But it shows how people who aren't even half as good love to criticize, etc. Ladies and Germs...the FGC!

Hey for all the pros out there, these questions are for yall, so what did Mono found out when Punk beat him 3 in a row to reset the game? Like did he adjusted his game, or was Punk messing up and he was capitalizing on it or at that high level of playing, luck comes into play way more? Cause I thought Mono was toast, I was like "damn, he is getting decimated, how is he going to change the tide? I guess that is my question, how did the change the tide so fast and convincing.
I'm not a pro but was a relatively high ranked Fang back when i used to play.
Imo the differences are Mono stopped getting v reversaled into the corner, started checking Punks dashes and also threaded the distance of Punks cr mk more effectively. I also think he took it slower and waited for cr mp hit confirms. I don't think his gameplan changed dramatically honestly, I think he just executed it better. Just my opinion however
