- One message this podcast has tried time and time again to explain... Jews come in all shapes and colors. The Jews from the Middle East are called Mizrahi Jews and they are just as culturally tied as Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews are.
Tal Oran, better known as The Travelling Clatt, steps away from his travel vlogging to share the full overview of Mizrahi Jewish culture. Chaz Volk, host of Bad Jew, goes through a learning curve to uncover the impactful contribution Mizrahi Jews have had on all of us and embraces the personal survival story of the Oran family.

What an honor to be on your show brother! Thanks for having me!
Nice pod cast yo I just saw this
At least you are a lefty who admits that he used to censor the truth for Muslim sensibilities I still have no respect for you
Very interesting, thank you...I'm a Cuban Levy on my mother's side...I went to Beth David Academy in the Gables...We are also dark Jews...My grandmother was from Fez...That food you mentioned sounds like empanadas...I'm not sure I would put an empanada into soup...The sweet one is "Chiviricos"...Shalom...
Tal it was a real treat to have you on this podcast. People love your story and LOVE the way you represent Mizrahi Jews worldwide. It was an amazing conversation.

I just finished listening to the podcast that you shared with The Delve with Chalin Ashew. People make so many assumptions only based on looks. Thank you for sharing more about your family history. Mizarahi music 🎶👍.
Thanks for listening! Appreciate your support
Food, like hummus is mentioned in the Talmud and arabs themselves, wrote that their cuisine got more sophisticated. When migrants from Judea arrived in the Arabian peninsula, educating them about agriculture and cuisine.
I think I’ve just learned a bit more about Tal than following his own channel. Great! I wish I had started following him earlier. I may have caught a few before he returned to Israel.
My son in law’s family came from Kurdistan and spoke Aramaic, my grandmothers family went from Turkey to Russia and she was very dark skinned as am I and one of my children. We jews are all mixed up! And I love it!
that's incredible. im realizing now ive never heard aramaic spoken. thank you for sharing!
Great interview!!! Moderation is beautiful!!! I love hearing family history and the languages of our people. We have all colors in my family and it’s all good. Any recommendations for Mizrachi cook books? Continue to speak truth! Truth is not a small narrative that happens in a vacuum:)
Thanks so much for watching! @thetravelingclatt can answer your question about the books better. Also let me know if you ever want to be in the Bad Jew Whatsapp community where you can talk Jewish studies and relevant topics in a safe place with fans across the world.

Tal, I am so happy you are stating these facts! The world must know!
Mizrahi can be withe skin, light eyes, blonde hair because mostly arab people i saw they have white and yellow skin. I work with arab people from iraq and syria mostly they have light skin and also they have natural beauty with thick eyebrows, straight nose , thick hair, long eyelashes and round eyes.
Great pod guys!
Thanks so much! et me know if you ever want to be in the Bad Jew Whatsapp community where you can talk Jewish studies and relevant topics in a safe place with fans across the world.
I just learnt that most of my DNA is Mizrahim Jew. I'm so happy to hear your Podcast!
Another moderate person here. Its good to be moderate and take the best ideas from all sides. In Canada where i come from and in the UK there is a strong tradition of this, and it serves us well.
I just wish we didnt have a 2 party political system. i think most people are moderate and dont realize it because they've been taught to pick a side
Great interview

It's estimated about 5% of the entire Egyptian genome, based on broad population data of course, is Yehudi in origin. Which is actually very significant in terms of DNA. It means we have been living there continuously for thousands of years.
I don't understand why that's important and I am black American and understanding there are so much bad information, because of the lies by jews
@@AnthonyMoore-po4epLies yes. Look in the mirror for source.
Outlayers are always left out. But amazed how these assimilate in Israel. The same true with Jews from India. Ultimately DNA is something inculcates hard-work, patience and belief
This is so amazing! Most Jews in the West have no idea of this part of our people.
P.S. Ashkenazia Jews hate matzah too.
Now subscribing and following both of you just because you gave a shout out to my cousin Zohar.❤
Your cousin is awesome! Thanks for subscribing! Let me know if you wanna be in the community WhatsApp chat with us!
Oh yes please - how do I do that?
shalom from morroco
And no Yehudi ever been "white". Even Ashkenazi, cant really tell them apart from most Lebanese Christians and many other locals.
Who was Oren's Grandfather in Kurdistan that was a Rabbi? i am writing a book on Mizrachi Rabbinic history and am very familiar with the history of all mizrachi countries.
@thetravelingclatt
I’m mandean and the Iraqi Jewish community they live with us side by side my people use to control Iraq golden industry the Iraqi Jews they use to speak mandean south Mesopotamian Aramaic
Ladino Yiddish the Arabic Jewish language all of these kind of Jewish languages that are mixed with other other languages where people Jewish people migrated to are called pigeon languages
6:25 speaking of harsh realities, they arent saying Poland for no reason. Poland is said specifically & aligns with that "white"=Jewish narrative along with being the location of Auschwitz. Im not Jewish or Israeli but have been sub to Tal for awhile now & am a part of that 70% of Americans that support Israeli & the Jewish ppl around the world that the world doesnt see all over the news acting a fool. Also believe Im in the minority of ppl in this country that actually understand the deep rooted cause & know a lot of these narratives are purposely for the naive westerner that doesnt know enough to know any better & anyone over a certain age that was alive on 9/11 should know by now.
So when you say that Mizrahi Jews were ethnically cleansed in their countries of origin, what ethnicity are they?
@thetravelingclatt can answer this better but outside of the initial phase of the diaspora, when Jews tried to take home in their new countries, they were kicked out again and forced to leave... again. This is a phenomenon for all Jews internationally. The Jews that experienced the pogroms of the middle east are called Mizrahi Jews
@badjewpod he tells you that he is a Mizrahi Jew, but in the video in the link he says he is a Muslim. I think he is a lier

After the destruction of the first temple by the Babylonians Cyrus the Great conquered Babylonia and let Jews return to Israel and build the 2nd temple, the Jews who stayed in Persia eventually became the Mizrahi Jews.
'Jews' means 'from Judea'.
Judea is in the middle east.
Jews were originally 'Mizrahi'.
Jews were originally 'brown'.
When I was a 10 year old in Paris in France the Ashkenazi Jewish friends I knew used to tell me that they would try to learn to pronounce and read Hebrew with the Sephardic Jews and Mizrahi Jews in the Jewish neighborhood of 'Belleville' in Paris because Mizrahim in general could pronounce Hebrew very well.
Hi my name’s Chaz LOL
and me poop nouns are dook / e
Who let the 3rd grader watch this content? Tal uses a few bad words in this interview. You shouldn't be watching this without adult supervision.
So tell me if an Italian or an English person adopted the Jewish religion does that make him or her a Jew? Isn’t that the point you’re trying to make? Or are you saying only Middle Eastern people can be Jewish ?So this would include the Arabs,Syrians etc. if you had only one sixth of actual Jewish blood mixed with other cultures does that make you Jewish? Let’s face it the Jews have intermarried into many cultures, some are white some are brown and some are black. This whole debate about what is Jewish could be solved by defining Jews as those who belong to a certain religion and leave it at that. It is the Zionist that have made being Jewish a geographical issue. Like many of us Jews are citizens of the world.
So a few things: 1) Converting to Judaism makes you a Jew. Terms like Ashkenazi, Sephardic, Mizrahi, etc., are based on those genetically connected to the ethnoreligion of Judaism and the geographical location of their birth on their mother's side. As for Zionism, Zionism is the ideology that Jews deserve to live in their ancestral homeland. Terms like Ashkenazi, Sephardic, Mizrahi date all of the way back to the Medieval ages way before the Zionist movement. They were terms written by Jewish scholars to help people understand the Jewish diaspora on an intellectual level based on geographical spread via pograoms, crusades, general persecution.
pronouns next to your name lol
Imagine being so insecure with your own gender that you have to comment on someone proudly and politely displaying their pronouns.
@@badjewpod imangen you are so insecure with your own gender that you have to display pronouns on a live stream. Its funny how you think the ones against this they them shit is the ones who are insecure bout their genders. full circle. what if i said my gender was "your god"? woudl you respect that or call me insecure?
Please , dont use the holly Tefilin in this disrespectfull way! Maybe you did not have intention to dessacrate our Hashem, Blessed be He, but now you are WARNED! WHAT HAPPEN TO YOU NEXT IS YOUR ENTIRE RESPONSABILITY
I'm not. I wrap tefillin everyday. Thanks for the unnecessary warning in all caps that totally makes you seem like a rational human.
Since arabs are brown than i would thew the 12 tribes of Israel would be brown and not white and Ashkenazis are white.
Why were Ashkenazi Jews never considered as White in Europe by Europeans? In America?
@@shainazion4073Shhh, don’t use logic on a woke mind, it’s like water and oil, no mixing works! So many people have tried. 😞
