In this lesson I will go over the intro and chord progression for Ruby waves. I will also go over how to jam on this in a solo setting, as well as a live backing track to jam over!

If you get a chance to play along at the end, let me know if that is something you would want to have more of.

I definitely would love have some kind of backing track at the end of the videos, especially for jamming sections of songs. This would be helpful to work on soloing for composed as well as open-ended sections. A good example would be something like the end of Loving Cup where I think the band essentially stays in G while Trey solos, or the jam section of Gotta Jibboo. Keep the great videos coming!

I belong to a cool FB group called "Addicted2Phish" which is about 30K strong. Pretty much the only reason I use FB. With your blessing, I would be love to promote your website to learning musicians! There is a wealth of music lessons out there, but your lessons really speak to me and have inspired me to learn and keep learning! I'm sure many of the members are aware of your page, but I post quite a bit about my Phish experience, and would be happy to help build your business, if that would in fact be helpful! Either way, any chance for a little Mercury tutorial in the future? :-)

That would be awesome if you want to promote this in that channel, greatly appreciated!! I will take a look at Mercury here in the future, haven't learned that one yet.

Phish Picks Guitar Lessons Fantastic! No rush on any lessons, I have a lot of yours that I haven’t gotten to yet, just thought Mercury could be an interesting song to break down in the future.

@@PhishPicksGuitarLessons Posted this morning: "As a (continuously) learning musician (guitar/piano mostly), nothing has been more (forgive me) instrumental in my development than finding Phish in 2015. As someone who has always hated reading sheet music and never studied music theory, I had run into many walls, and my abilities had reached what I thought was their peak. Phish has essentially been my "use the Force, Luke" inspiration, helping me to get out of my own way, and reinforcing, with every performance, how music isn't static, and doesn't need to be played the same way time.
Recently I've discovered what I feel is a true gold mine for any musician or potential musician who loves Phish. Brennan Blackwell is an extremely talented musician who posts guitar lessons for free on CZcams from his own website (www.crookedpathmusic.com/). While he does lessons for many musicians, his clear focus right now is on Phish. He's been to many shows over the years, and really understands Trey.
There are a lot of great Phish guitar lessons online, but what I love about Brennan's lessons (aside from the $0 cost) is his patient and relaxed approach. He takes songs like Ruby Waves and Timber and NMINML and Meatstick among many others (all currently available on CZcams) and breaks them down in ways that make learning not only easy, but fun. He takes requests regularly and often will post lessons within a day of the request.
I'm sure a few A2P members have already discovered Brennan, but for anyone out there who may not have, I can't recommend his videos enough. I don't know Brennan personally, but I felt strongly enough that I reached out, told him about our group, and asked if he was OK for me to post on A2P to help spread the word, and he was. 😁🎸"

@@PhishPicksGuitarLessons My pleasure! I admire your dedication and talent, and am glad to help drive traffic to your channel. At last count, the post has received over 80 likes and 20 comments. Several people indicated they had never see your videos before and were thrilled to get started and to see your expansive list of Phish (and non-Phish) lessons. Hopefully you'll see that traffic make its way to your CZcams page and your website. I'm interested to know when you got started, both playing guitar and also posting the lessons?
