Bro you can punt and recover a touchdown dude ????? That’s so fucking sick fr man
Why have I not watched the cfl man 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Man this rule set is fr entertaining
You can watch on CBS when the season starts in June!
It’s a great game. Very different from the NFL but it’s still football, you’d recognize much of it.
I am an American, but this is why I love CFL football.
Same here
I agree this is really great football
Thanks my American brother
The rules of Canadian football certainly seem more logical, especially when compared with other types of football. Football in the US tries so hard to take the “foot” out of football.
6:39 is peak CFL action, this can't happen in American football
Whoa wtf. This is like a completely different sport from the NFL. I had no idea.
Yup. People are always trying to say that the CFL is basically a lesser version of the NFL, but that's really comparing apples and oranges. The fundamentals of the game are similar, but the details can be shockingly different.
It's a good game. The NFL should incorporate some CFL rules.
If you watch a whole a game it's close to American Football. Biggest difference is the kicking game.
@@lantron123 no kidding?
@@rubberneckinc.8937 nope
He's just out there kicking touchdowns.
Holy fuck I really do see you everywhere, the world is shrinking.
New meaning to the term “I kick a touchdown!”
Thanks, Jon.
The punt touchdown: that's a nice Rugby carryover!
Agreed.
Multiple kicks in one play and non-punters kicking - gotta love the CFL!
I like in the first clip that Ottawa players were celebrating like they just won the Cup, but they were losing 32-0 at the time.
32-6 ;)
I really enjoy the CFL. It's not always easy to find the games here in the U.S., but it's always worth it.
Facts shits dope af
I play rugby but I gotta watch more CFL. Love the rugby elements being put in play!
Yah they stayed pretty pure they didn't change as the American game changed
Same dude shits so gangster
01:34 the players on both teams avoiding the ball like it’s a holy artifact that can’t be touched without divine permission is WILD 💀💀👀👀☕️☕️☕️
I need to watch more CFL!
Same
I have seen my share of crazy/unusual plays but this league (CFL) has all but made an art of it.
I love love love love the CFL
I love how basic basic rugby mechanics are considered divine and godly in NA football lol
They need the NFL to allow on side punts
Agreed.
NFL allows onside punts after a safety takes place.
@@alejandroalcantarasoria2839 That's as a method of restarting plays, not just punting on 4th down.
@@ianw1976 There aren't fourth downs in CFL. 🤣
@@alejandroalcantarasoria2839 I was referring to the NFL. If I said third down you would have said "they don't punt on third down in the NFL."
This is the video I've been waiting for!
Glad you like it.
This is lots more fun than the NFL, USFL, etc. Including kicking the football away at the end of the game, real zany😅
Now that’s entertaining and yet confounding.
5:56 I love how #37 made the choice to pitch it, then made the block that basically made the TD! That's just good football right there, folks!
Yes! I don't know if this is just a CFL thing but interceptors often try to lateral so their teammate can score a touchdown. This is the only time I know of that it works.
Actually, I can think of another example of this. 2017 Winnipeg @ BC.
@@cflhighlights9370It depends on the team. In the NFL though possesion is such a premium due to the rules and nature of the game so laterals can be frowned upon unless explicitly designed into the play.
@@Konformation07 That's what I figured. I saw the Patriots/Vegas ending from last year and I'll bet that made everyone in the NFL reconsider lateralling!!
I don't quite understand what's going on, but I like it.
This is crazy 😂 I love it
This sport has a lot of rules I've never seen before. It's cool surprising, but different.
LOVE the open-field kick at 1:10! If only they had recovered for the TD
Yeah. I want to find an example of that.
This is great.
4:45 this is literally something out of a movie 😂😂😂
Love it!
Love this league so much
Cool video clips, especially the Toronto and Montreal ending, who wants the football? Who wants to win? More fun than the NFL & NCAA. Kick the ball back and forth until 1 team goofs up
first clip 32-7 with just under 2 and 1/3 quarters left.
I love Canadian Football! 🏈 🇨🇦
So much kicking!!!!
Yes!! Makes special teams a little more special.
8:46 Rod Black turning into Vsauce
I wish the CFL would have some kind of broadcast deal in the United States like the NFL does in Canada. It’d be neat to see these live on television, like the UEFA championship league, or the FIFA World Cup.
It’s on CBS
@cflhighlights9370 AAAAAAA you better believe i'm going to trihard this as much as i can
@@AhDollar There’s a game happening right now on CFL+ if you’re interested. The link is in my community tab.
Canadian football almost goes full on rugby sometimes.
The ball is live as soon as the receiver touches it?? Holy shit!!
If you're talking about the Montreal/Toronto one, it was overturned.
If what you are saying is that on a kick the members of the kicking team who are not onside (i.e. the kicker and everyone behind him when the kick is made) have to be 5 or more yards away from the receiver at the moment he touches the ball, yes. That is the no yards rule. Of course the ball is still live before being touched which is why if nobody touches it and it goes through the endzone a rouge is scored. And once a member of the receiving team touches the kicked ball, the kicking team no longer has to give yards. The weirdest clip in this set is the one at 1:29 where the ball was sitting on the goal line. The BC kicker was onside and could have picked that ball up for a touchdown, so where was he? Maybe he forgot he was playing football and went out for a beer figuring that the play was over once he had kicked it.😀
Hope you enjoy.
The CFL is football in its purest form
It is?
@@rubberneckinc.8937 It is technically closer to rugby than the NFL is (even if most of the differences in rules do not come into play very often), but one isn't "purer" than the other...
@counselthyself I prefer the actual gameplay of the CFL, although NFL athletes are a cut above.
I am an American and I have no idea what's going on. This is wonderful and totally insane. No wonder they took Flutie from us.
I'll make a video explaining some of the rules featured in this video soon. Stay tuned!
Both games evolved from rugby, but the NFL added more rules that make various rugby plays impossible. Even so, many of them are incredibly rare in the CFL. Technically, it would be legal for a player to dribble the ball down the field as in soccer, which is not infrequent in rugby but I have never seen it in the CFL.
@@JohnSmith-oe5kx gridiron rugby football developed in canada, it was introduced to the states in 1874 mcgill vs. harvard.
i remember being SO MAD at kenton keith on that 2006 lateral. he had 3 guys wide open!!
I know!!!!! This opportunity rarely happens.
One play that should have been here was from the 2013 Grey Cup. Durant was carrying the ball when he gets hit hard and coughs up the ball....and Wes Cates catches it on the run. Only resulted in a first down, but it was a pretty unusual play.
Added it to Part 3!
11:39 This play is completely within the CFL rules but I swear it's like ChatGPT drawing up a play for the Bengals.
I mean all of these are within CFL rules
The first play of this video reminds me of a trick play that I think is possible under the rule set of the NFL. If a ball is punted and it does not cross the line of scrimmage anyone on the offense is able to recover the ball behind the line of scrimmage and advance the ball passed it. If my understanding is correct on a play where the center is not grading anyone the QB can punt pass it to the Center, as long as he gets it behind the line of scrimmage, for a gain.
CFL is a lot better game than NFL. Rules make a lot more sense, given the origins of the game. Imagine actually being able to kick the ball in FOOT-BALL 😅
My Argos seem to be good at whack ass fumble recoveries 😎
There's a reason why there's a term called the Argo Bounce
what was the flag for 1:28 ? also never seen anything like this before ! great video !
Glad you like it. The flag may have been because BC was within 5 yards of the Montreal kick returner or because the play was delayed for too long.
@@cflhighlights9370 thanks ! i would love to see more of these kinds of videos !! i binge watch these when i’m bored (it’s a guilty pleasure)
The block at 11:48 sheeesh
The Cohon era was the best time for the CFL
cool ass league man
So I assume that forward motion is allowed before the snap in CFL?
Yes.
12:07 LOL dude, how could you cut it right there?
It's from an old top 10 video the CFL made and at that point it transitioned to another clip. czcams.com/video/PWYt9_mDSAw/video.html
i watch nfl but cfl is such a cool sport
You can watch on CBS when the season starts in June!
@@cflhighlights9370 oh bet
Ok mates, I'll watch the rest later and more but the frist one is clearly in the rule book. It's not a crazy play. Heck it's alot better than Fair Catch boring nonsense!
11:50 ti-cats and stampeders playing monkey in the middle
Yup. Still one of my favourite plays of all time.
Wtf nfl and cfl different RULES
Yes, if you're interested in more CFL you can watch about half of this season's games on CBS!
Aha, the first play on the list had me confused for a second until they showed the wide angle shot. The fullback (I assume) was behind the punter when the kick was made therefore making him onside and eligible to score upon making contact with the ball. It's astonishing how close to rugby the Canadian game is!
Because you liked that, I'm going to show you something else: czcams.com/video/2US4Ce9ID_4/video.html
What is going on?
Depends on the scenario, most kicking back and forth plays are to score or avoid a single point (i.e. second last clip). Open field kicks and quick kicks here are mostly in hopes of an onside recovery like in the first play. Fumbles are just comedies of errors!
OK so Canadian Football doesnt have the same rules as the NFL or Americal College football I guess. Because I had no idea I thought it was just a Canadian football league. But punting the ball like this it looks more like Rugby than football in some of these plays. I mean what the hell is this ?
Kicking the ball is actually meaningful in the CFL. In the NFL, kicks end in fair catches or touchbacks about 90% of the time. Boring.
It's "foot" ball.
???????
If rugby was good:
Bro I don’t understand this CFL
Anyone can kick at any time, if you can’t get a kick out of the endzone the kicking team gets one point, anyone behind the kicker can recover the kick, 3 downs, 12 men, 110 yards, 20 yard endzones, goalposts at the front, 3 minute warning, that’s enough to get you started!
What tf is this 😂
Canada.
I’ve never watched the CFL but I’m an NFL fan. How can they just kick the ball like that? Thats not real football
What makes football real?
@@cflhighlights9370 I’m intrigued by the CFL and id watch it if it aired in America. But ummm? The actual Rules in the Rule book of American Football is what”Real Football”… doing that kicking stuff like that is more like Rugby than football. The CFL literally looks like a form of rugby
@@blake1896Why is American football real and Canadian not? Is it older or something?
@@blake1896 that's because canadians were playing rugby since around the 1820's, in the 1860's gridiron rugby football developed and it was introduced to the states in 1874 - mcgill vs. harvard.
The ONE AND ONLY way CFL will ever be more then a joke stuck to the bottom of NFL's shoe is if they get more teams... a league where everyone but 2 teams makes playoffs is ridiculous lol
Well I mean, everyone but three teams.
the joke actually is a league that changes rules to make scoring impossible which is what the NFL was for most of my 70 plus years
And it would be more ridiculous if, like, Thunder Bay had a team.
I mean... there are more teams PER CAPITA in the CFL than in the NFL.. NFL would need about 100 teams to get on CFL's level.
