    Latetly i've been hooked on the work of people like Sensei Patrick McCarthy, Sensei Jesse Enkamp, Sensei John Titchen, and their effort to shed some light on Karate's history and it's more traditional (intended, if i'm allowed to say so) self defense applications. I deeply appreciated your work and your message and it's respect for Karate, thank you Sensei!!!

      I appreciate your response our goal is to shed light on the traditional arts and open minded individuals to help them understand a purposeful visual language for how karate was originally intended to be used as accurate as can be as some things have been lost to the sands of time and many interpretations are out there. We shall be releasing many more tutorials on the functionality of karate. Sensei Patrick is a fellow Canadian and an amazing individual that has paved the way for many people to see the more practical side of karate and it's intended purpose and continue s his work now from his home in Okinawa. All the best to I hope you share this with everyone.

      @@Goodfellowsmma what's your opinion on karate vs muay Thai or any other art?

    • @Goodfellowsmma
      @Goodfellowsmma  Před měsícem +2

      @@Nonamam karate was never intended for mutual combat against other skilled martial arts. It's original intended purposes was personal self protection from random acts of human aggressive behavior. But styles like kyokusin karate because of the hard hitting nature of the style it has proven effectiveness against muaythai and other disciplines. My real opinion varies purely on how a martial art is trained and it's intended purpose. All martial arts has something to offer and if blended I believe you can find the best solution for most combat situations. Thank you for this comment.

    As always in sutch demonstrations there is always a fallacy, being the uke; i'm not trying to be mean or anithing, but eaven in common selfdefence it's likely that wen a punch comes forward, it will soon come backwards, so in reality, there is no time to do anitying other than wat you call "brush" before the opponent retracts the punch.
    The reason this all thing of bloking like this existed in the contex of early karate were power was generated by shifting the COG of the all body to strike, witout wipping or turning the hips like in modern karate, then, if the opponent punches like that the blocking motion finds his lost meaning.
    Sensei Yoshitomo Yamashiro and sensei Watanabe Shinji explained this in many youtube videos.
    Torite done in this way is "karate to fight karate", for self defence or modern combat sports, wrestling and boxing defences are just easyer and more effective.

      Thank you for such an indepth response this blocking idea is very controversial in many karate styles and many have lost the true essence of non consensual combat or self protection. Our objective is to create insights that allow individuals to grow in their arts separate from their teachers restrain s if negatively influenced and allow like mined individuals options and opportunities to discuss and discover more. Thank you again for your comment 🙏

      I'm glad you enjoyed this there are many similarities in a variety of martial arts as in karate and wing chun I suspect from its original roots karate coming from China has not been completely lost in the many years of its inception.

    Your still doing two moves to your attackers one move and you make the mistake of stepping to your attackers inside where he can hit you with his other fist
    Are you sure you're a black belt
    What you demonstrate makes no sense
    If you're interested blocks are actually strikes check Patrick McCarthy for into on how to apply them ...

    • @Goodfellowsmma

      The mistake isn't a mistake it's deliberately done because you can't guarantee what your attacker is doing and the surroundings may play a factor on the street that doesn't allow you to move exactly where you think . Chaotic attack s are extremely hard to predict and therefore you need option s. Thank you
