60 Automobiles de la Collection Baillon

- The Collectors’ Car Department at Artcurial has discovered 60 collectors’ automobiles, all major marques dating from the early days of the motor car through to the 1970s. Found following fifty years of lying dormant, the Baillon collection will be sold by Artcurial Motorcars in the first part of the traditional sale at Retromobile Salon, on 6 February 2015, in Paris.
These motor cars have been tucked away in a property in the West of France, under makeshift corrugated iron shelters and in various outbuildings.

Le département voitures de collection d’Artcurial a découvert 60 automobiles de collection de grandes marques, des débuts de l’automobile aux années 70. Retrouvées après 50 ans de sommeil, la collection Baillon sera vendue aux enchères par Artcurial Motorcars en première partie de la traditionnelle vente du Salon Rétromobile, le 6 février 2015, à Paris.
Ces automobiles dormaient dans l’ouest de la France, sous des abris de fortune, recouvertes de tôles ondulées et sous les auvents des dépendances de la propriété.

Magnifiques images. La musique va très bien avec c'est vrai. On sent que chaque auto est figée dans le temps... Incroyable. Quand on connaît l'histoire de ce propriétaire et le moment où toutes ces voitures sont restées à l'abandon sans que personne ne puisse les voir, ça fait de la peine. Cette vidéo file le bourdon et tourne une page de l'histoire automobile. Une tragédie pour ce passionné qu'était Mr Baillon et qui n'aura pu réaliser son rêve de musée...
According to Artcurial the collection is estimated to be worth 12 million pounds. I have been collecting cars for over 23 years and this is probably one of the most spectacular find in the last 20 years. If I had the money I would pay $20 million for the 250swb that Alain delon drove with Jane Fonda. I believe this collection will sell around $40 million, twice the estimate!
The neglect makes you want to cry..Yet the fact that they still exist gives hope they can be restored to their former beauty.

I liked the black Ferrari....one of the few recognisable cars. I hope all those beautiful and sad old cars can and will be restored.

I dropped to my knees and shed many a tear, watching all the beautiful vintage cars beyond repair and slowly decaying in a barn with no one to love and appreciate the heritage that these vehicles represent. What a waste.

When i see cars in these conditions, on the streets, on internet, independently if a trabant or a ferrari... i think: Sad! These things were dreams of someone, someday.
Now is only rusty iron. The cause is selfishness. Who really need 200 cars? Who really need retaining these thing around 50 years and don't sell or donate?
Think about this. If you retaing something now, that can help others, sell or donate.

It would be great to separate them and re-create this exact environment, just as they are seen here, but in a museum, with ample space to walk around each of them. Once restored, they will disappear among the legions of hyper-perfect classics. The way they appear here, mother nature took decades to create.
It was a good video, great treasure, great music but I had a few issues with the flow of the edit. Some were good some were really bad, I wasn't a big fan of the overused speed-ramp which didn't always suit the flow/music, SFX were good at some points but I would've done something with the engines of those cars in SFX, all these cars have their own stories, I think if we were hearing engines of those cars in the background, that would really give an amazing mood. Shots were mostly great, sometimes the rack focus was a little to fast or the jib had a bit of jitter but overall it was a nice to watch video. I just thought I'd share my thoughts, I'd love that aswel on my own work so yeah there's that. Also, many it's just a little too long. I'd say 3:30 would be perfect but that's all personal preference of course.
Im not a film-maker and are not familiar with the terms but i definitely agree on the great music and the mood it brings together. i also agree about the overused speed-ramp..more than three times than its an overkill. also on the engine SFX, they used a speeding train horn sound which was kinda awkward..

Some good bases for restauration , some cars are rare or unique...all this cars was buy for the iron value in cars scrapyards and so preserved from destruction...

Absolutely amazing! Many cars seem to be able to be rescued but against big money... Some others will finish at the crusher, like the poor rusty Ford Taunus. Anyway, some kind of a sight of hell...
I just hope that after all that time not being used they just don't go to waste and they find a home and are restored

Wonderful video and music---though very sad to see. How many more discoveries like this are there still to be revealed ? It seems that every decade produces an incredible world-class, but neglected collection like these. Usually, the owner grew too old, or lacked the funds to look after them--yet allowed the things they loved, to rot away, Tragic. Many people criticised the Schlumpf ? Brother's ,with their unmatchable collection of Bugati's, but they DID restore and protect those jewels , for all to see today.
Except for the vintage of the cars, this would be a familiar sight to anyone from the American deep south.

При чем тут дети и внуки? Машины очевидно всегда хранились в сарае, еще когда владелец был жив (и гнить они начали при нем), и он не подпускал к ней детей и внуков, или вообще держал в тайне от всех коллекцию, из-за налогов, например.

There is a guy in my neighborhood with i think 3 Datsun 280z and an old Porsche 911 just sat in his back yard rotting away, such a shame!

При чем тут внуки, машины стали гнить еще когда хозяин был жив. Достаточно посмотреть в каком месте они хранились.
Я думаю дед был не безалаберным! судя по коллекции - он любил автомобили!!! (на феррари книги явно не он навалил) А вот внуки видать не оценили и выставили как "просто железо"

Машины он скупал для создания музея с 50-х годов, они уже в те годы были в не самом хорошем состоянии и многие требовали ремонта.
Но из-за проблем с деньгами, дед начал распродавать коллекцию в 70-х, и считалось, что коллекционных машин у него не осталось. Но, как сейчас выяснилось, он продал не всю коллекцию.
Возможно он пустил такой слух, чтобы к нему не пришли с налоговой. Типа махинации с документами, чтобы не платить налоги - мои догадки.
В итоге все думали, что машины распроданы, а по факту часть коллекции продолжала стоять у него и гнить, т.к. он не озаботился постройкой нормального гаража для всей коллекции. В небольшом гараже хранились, как мы видим, Феррари и Мазерати, благодаря чему они сохранились в лучшем состоянии, а остальные стояли под навесом на земле и подвергались воздействию природы.
Денег судя по всему не было не только на ремонт и восстановление машин, но и на постройку гаража. А может он просто забил на них, т.к. они ему надоели.- мои догадки.
В общем он сам превратил эти машины в гнилье, устроив на заднем дворике своей хаты кладбище машин. А внуки, которые получили наследство, знать не знали об этих машинах.
Вывод простой, внуки здесь не причем.
