That's my dad. So proud of him! And I can attest that I've never heard him complain about anything in my 68 years of knowing him. I'm with him today at Shaver Lake and will read to him the responses below. Thanks to all who appreciate what this twenty-year-old thrown into a horrific conflict endured. That experience changed his life.

@@ClickClack_Bam His generation did far more for this nation than mine has. His was "the greatest generation" in terms of sacrifice for the liberty of the world. They were amazingly blind on racial justice, however, as black veterans were not extended the same housing and higher education as other veterans. My generation's exceeding selfishness has divided our nation and bankrupted our country. We have squandered so much of what his generation purchased. Sad, really.

If you can, please interview him longer, this interview was way too short. It isn't often that one hears from a believer in battle. The Bible says to not murder, not to not kill. In war, people die. The German soldier could have also raised a white handkerchief, he didn't because he was out to kill. Your Dad is good to let us know that one has to overcome that hurdle, or one simply is dead before one starts the battle. I appreciate his honesty. Thank you sir. God does not condemn you. God bless!

Both sides say that. The Bible is misquoted is so many ways. The actual interpretation of the 6th commandment is "thou shall not murder." Murder is different than killing. This soldier was not committing a sin and neither were the other soldiers. It's a travesty how common the misinterpretation of the Bible is.
FYI the first commandment is interpreted "thou shall not do evil in the lords name." It's the worst sin and only unforgivable sin. It's not "lords name in vain" like saying GD. "Thou shall not steal," also incorrect. It's actually "thou shall not steal human beings (kidnap)." Covet, same thing. Not Covet, this one's actually more akin to "thou not steal." Look up Hebrew interpretation of old Testament yourself. So much misinterpretation

These sorts of international conventions are not always cut& dry. It reminds of an ethics conundrum that comes from the mid 20 century,( usually applied to political or military situations). IS AN ACTION THAT IS 9 PARTS EVIL and 1 PART GOOD should that be approved by a civilized body or conversely IS AN ACTION THAT IS 9 PARTS GOODand ,1 PART EVIL should that be disapproved by a civilized body.
ILL give the short answer generally accepted in making an ethical decision. 9 parts evil and 1part good is not a moral action even if the good is extremely good. Now the. 9parts good and the ,1 part evil can be a moral action because of the doctrine of the greater good the good out weighs the evil and most nation's and political bodies accept this reasoning. See how this causes a struggle of conscience for some people. Many important decisions in wartime use this as a stsndard

@@markr.devereux2713 Take a tennis ball and throw it as hard as you can at a tank and it will " bounce " off. You and I have different definitions of the word " bounce". The Russians are credited for the invention of sloped armor and the Germans soon copied it for their tanks. To explain this in laymen's terms the offending shell would ride the angle of the slope and not penetrate the tanks armor losing all inertia and disinegrate into small parts. From a thousand yards away it could look like it "bounced " off. The reason for sloped armor is that you can take the same amount of steal "resources" and have and almost double the tank crews protection without adding weight to the vehicle. Not related but have you noticed the sloped angles on aircraft, battleships and drones. Cheers Mark
