Les papes du black metal polonais, Batushka (@батюшка ) sont au Hellfest ! Krzysztof Drabikowski et ses ouailles viennent y prêcher la bonne parole… à leur manière.
Si 1054 est l’année du schisme entre l’église catholique et l’église orthodoxe, 2018 est celle du schisme entre le Batushka de Krzysztof Drabikowski (alias Кристофор) et le Batushka de Bartłomiej Krysiuk (alias Варфоломей). Comme l’indique l’introduction ci-dessus, c’est bien l’équipe de Krzysztof Drabikowski que nous retrouvons sur la scène Temple du Hellfest.
Un lieu fort à propos, puisque Batushka joue à fond la carte de l’imagerie religieuse et de la liturgie revisitée. Un élément tellement identifiable que leur musique a pu être qualifiée de "black metal orthodoxe".
Batushka frappe très fort dès le début en publiant en 2015 l’album Литургия (Litourgiya). Une réussite totale, qui place d’emblée le groupe comme une figure incontournable du black metal polonais. Un statut appuyé par des performances live particulièrement saisissantes, aux airs de grandes messes metal. Faites donc comme le public du Hellfest, laissez-vous convertir par les sombres psaumes de Batushka !

Man, I'm so happy for him. Being underground after the hussle and years later, he's playing on a major festival like Hellfest. Also winning the court. He seems like a distant guy but after the concert he became nicest guy on the planet for me. He deserves it so much.

@@zoranagavrilovic9403 Apparently so. They posted about this on their Facebook page on June 5th. But I don't know if the court decision can still be appealed by Krysiuk.
@@i_pa314 krysiuk promised to appeal the ruling but it seems he is going to change the name of his band. He is bating people into thinking that Batushka is going to end and you should go and see his band now.

It seems like Krysiuk did not appeal, or his appelation was invalid
because a few thing I noticed:
- He's not using the litourgiya album cover at concerts
- He's not selling any kind of merch with the batushka logo anymore
- He claimed at the faketushka instagram "last chance to see batushka live" (again lying, because we all now that he is not batushka)
So maybe he's working on a new name or something.
So this is Drabikowski's Batushka? If so, I'm relieved it worked out.

Both are interesting to me. Seeing how both parts evolved from the schism is fascinating. Both are brilliant in their own art.

This Batushka by Krzysztof Drabikowski is the real deal. Krzysztof Drabikowski found indeed the spiritual origins of Orthodox Church and expressed it in this music.
Bro what was Bart thinking. Did he really think people wouldn’t catch on? Like it wasn’t totally obvious? All he did was strengthen the core fan base for the original sound if anything. Totally opposite effect. When the real Batushka return with a new album people will be infinitely more psyched.

Имхо, но то что делает Крысюк значительно лучше, чем Драбиковский. Который кое-как сбил альбом и больше не прогрессирует.
Есть две группы с таким названием. Это которая играет? Кто кого пародировать начал
@@metalmusee Никто никого не стал пародировать. Два музыканта из стартового состава поругались, и каждый создал своего Батюшку, так и играют. Насколько знаю, за "бренд" до сих пор судятся. Справедливости ради, надо сказать, что задумка эта принадлежит Драбиковскому, но Крысюк, второй музыкант, очень много сделал для продвижения этой группы, за счет его усилий группа стала известной.
А пародии есть, но то глупая школота херней занимается.

Great improvement in choirs/melodic parts compared to when I saw them few years ago (one of first concerts after split). However, they still have heavy Polish accents :P .
