WHAT'S YOUR FAV TUNING?
Just got some time to check a bit of my gear more in detail. Never have been into those Evans Hydraulic stuff before and was curious how it will sound on a snare. What you hear is a combination of a Tama Starphonic copper snare and a Evans Hydraulic red drumhead in different tunings.

I love how focused copper is
I love high tuning ! But low tuning with a thing like "big fat snare" could be amazing too
Ever since I heard Alex Van Halen's snare tuned high, I loved it. The high tuning here reminds me of it.
High tuning no damp is what did it for me!
This snare drum is absolutely incredible.
Seriously in love with all the tunings,so crisp!♥️♥️
Love the high tuning with no dampening
To my ears, the first one, High tuning with no dampening! Sounded perfect to me.
je revois cette video, Anika , tu m'as convaincu ! je vais essayer cette peau sur ma TAMA starclassic performer 14x6.5❤
Test drove one of these at Gearfest last year at Sweetwater. One of the most ear satisfying snares I’ve ever played. Amazing clarity with both accents and grace notes. It can handle every bit of subtlety or power you throw at it. Tama Copper Starphonic. Unreal!
I bought one, highly recommend it
I bought this head with a fat tuning in mind, then i tried it tuned high, and thats where it has stayed. Sounds so good with the high tuning.
Darcy 809 works well with both
Greatly appreciate you... Thank you for sharing. I prefer the mid tuning with no muffling. This Hydraulic Head is very dry on a Snare. It's not my usual sound choice...
Loved all the high tunings. Low tuning was good too. Didn't care for the mid tunings. This is what I love about snares especially. You can get so much versatility out of one drum.
It's stuck in my brain now
High tuning, no damping ! Just love the subtle reverb !
I love anika nille
Mid tuning with damper sounded so nice 🔥🔥,🇬🇭🇬🇭
she's just too cold , 5 top female drummers in the world.. keep doing it. YES love ya
high tuning and no dampening for sure.... 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow, not even caring about the tunings, I'm just mesmerised by your beautiful playing...
I've got an old TAMA Imperialstar 14x6,5 with an Evans Hydraulic and I freakin love to crank it all the way up ^^
Really nice to hear the wide range of tunings. Very musical across the whole spectrum. My fav was the high tuning. You can hear the character the shell, and LOVE the ghost notes. Thank you for this!
Oh my. Nice pocket groove 😛👍
Great drumming video! I like the sound of the 1st snare 👍🥁🎶😊
I love all tunings and drumming/music in general, great job Anika!!
Straight 🔥🔥🔥
Definitely high tuning!
Also - it's so satisfying watching little pieces of stick fly off while you're playing!!
I love all the tunings you showed!! I recently tried the hydraulic black version on a snare I had. I was really surprised how much I loved that head!! It’s so great to experiment!
The ghost notes sound amazing on high tuning-no dampning! 🔥
High tuning is very cool...
Anika is always the best... 👍
Glad I’m not the only one who uses those on the snare. I’ve been a hydraulic head user since the 80’s and have taken much ribbing over it.
Accused of “playing cardboard boxes”, “still stuck in the 70’s” etc. for many years.
Now all that is vindicated by a star like her making them “cool”.
I use the ebony coated hydraulic on my mahogany shelled Gretsch and keep it about a mid tune. This gives me that fat, wet 70’s thud many players love.
If I want a higher, hip-hoppish sound, I’ll pull out the Rogers Powertone CoB snare with the clear blue hydraulic that’s cranked up high.
Hydraulic’s offer a tuning range and overtone control not found on other heads. Add the quick attack and quick fade makes them perfect for live as the vocals and guitars will hide any resonance tuning you spent all afternoon achieving.
So so good!!! I've been following you since you started here on CZcams. Thanks for all the great content!
This one i like it because of the sound
The last one!! 😍
Wow sounds awesome!
high tuning no damper sounds amazing on this beauty!
Fantastic sound!
Sounds fantastic. So bright and to the point.
That ghoust noted, amazing.
I like the high tuning with and without dampening. I'm also digging the mid tuning with no dampening.
very helpful!
This snare drum is amazing! Lots of body from a usually drier sounding metal(Copper) Saving up for this bad boy
Hermoso tocan la Bata felicitaciones!!!!!!
Perfect ❤🥁
I actually liked all of them. Each tuning has a use in different musical applications that would make it ideal for the situation/song without multiple snares/heads. For instance a Beatles song with a wet fat damp towel over the head sound as apposed to a Police tune with the tight crack. This head and snare combo would do the job nicely for both situations... Now you don't have to bring a dozen snares to a gig. You have all the tools for the job in one bag.... But I'm sure you like me will still end up owning a half million snares, I can't help myself(LOL)...
Thanks Anika for the review!!! 🤘🤩🤘Frito
WOW YEEEAAAAAHHH GREAT SOUND
Great sound!
Rim shots are THE way to play a snare.
The high running is the way!
First and the last one 🔥🔥
🔥
mid tuning no damper sounds amazing!
Thinking of getting one of these, and it sounds amazing! Bit i guess Anika could play a rotten pumpkin and it would sound great🤣
Love that head for my low tuned fat snare sound
Another high tune no dampening lover chiming in. Although the mid tuning also had some charm to it with this head.
Me encanta tu toque Anika felicidades, soy un fiel seguidor
thanks
Hi Anika,
Mach weiter so, ich feier deine Videos!!
LG vom Wingelschweinchen ;)
Sempre top
Between High and High/ 2 dampers - Mid has it's place but I like a tight sound that cuts through the rest.
You sold me the Evans Hydraulic. Well I have that head for my toms and they sound really nice.
High tuning and mild dampening! 🤯🤙🏼
Love those ghost notes! I have about 20 snare drums, so I like them from low and fat to high with a lot of crack....over all I prefer high tuning though :)
Wow, all in all an amazing sound. But I like the high, non-damping tuning the most.
Love everything about A:N for be true
Depends of the music of course, the best for me was: high tuning I 2 damper. Still sounds bright, without too much resonance.
I'd buy that tune
I have that same snare!!! It's soooo good! I was kind of taken back when I saw that someone put a Hydraulic on it, but then I saw it was Anika so I figured she'd know better than me. haha. And the high tuning sounded great for sure. Not a fan of the mid or low with that head. Anyone know why she abandoned the ghost notes on the mid and low tuning?
Drum covers please Anika....You're the Best
Hi from Dominican Republic
Jefersson De La Rosa ❤️ I don‘t do drum covers...🙌🏼😊
I miss my drums....they're at the church, and I'm trying to limit being in the building until coronavacation is up 🤯🤯🤯😖😖
Fav : high tuning no damping

I prefer always the High tuning. 👌
I hope you and all your fellow Germans are staying healthy and 💪 strong during this time! Keep on playing,Anika! Your work here is great as always! That snare sounds wonderful in any tone U play it!!!
Love the high tuning! @anika. Will this be a keeper? Btw. Have you tried the starphonic brass. I think you would love that snare.
A difficult question which requires just one simple answer: it depends..!
MUITO bom!!
Why is Tama drums your favorite drums and why is mienl your favorite cymbal company
i love the hi hat aswell what is it

Mi inspiro em vc vc toca muito
Nice pocket😂😂✌🏾✌🏾💯🔥🔥💯
Medium wide open!
Sound..
High tuning, no damping
Was that a herta at 1:03?
Hi Anika, what kind of damper are you using?
What about slp dynamic bronze snare?
tuna huma also a great one!! Also the Aluminium (SLP and Starphonic) sound amazing.. super warm with this specific amount of punch
@@anykmusic WOW Thanks a lot!! I have that bronze snare and I love it too.
What reso head?
Звук заебок
I'd swap the head for a single ply or a coated 2-ply with no dampers. It sounds drowned out for me. Loosen the snare wires and let that thing sing!
High tuning, 1 damper
yea yea
Mid tuning - one damper
Mid - no dampening
