God I miss this era of metalcore. It actually sounds pissed and heavy. The chorus is catchy while actually matching the energy of the rest of the song and not sounding like a completely separate genre.
I think there’s no other Metalcore band out there which delivers that metal heaviness, those catchy choruses and such melancholic melodies as Norma Jean do. They’re just out of this world!
i think this was like the 3rd song I heard from these guys. LOVED this song. Breakdown nearly killed me. Didn't think these guys went this heavy! Great video dude. Hope you had a great weekend away and ready to get back at it! Cheers, buds!
@@johneputnam The best breakdown for me is the last bit of The End of All Things Will Be Televised ("captain have mercy, the ship is sinking"). It's so heavy it sinks ships. \m/
Falafel! I love that Norma Jean doesn’t play by any metalcore rules, they do their own thing and sound unique because of it! That’s why I continue to listen to them after 20+ years!
Crazy how they haven't lost their "sound". I was always a fan of the filthy, sludgey guitar tones with off pitch riffs and possibly untuned guitars lol. The vocals are amazing and have such range tonally. Such a great song!
Cory's vocals at the end with that break up he added sounded so nasty it just fit the breakdown. I also think they released call for the blood first because I believe they were letting us know this alum is gonna be more experimental (playing with song structures etc. , and to show case Cory's vocal range) this song is showing us Grayson is a beast at writing songs.
I never ate falafel - Norma Jean is one of the most consistent band ever. This song is a freakin banger. I already know "Deathrattle Sing For Me" will be a contender for my AOTY.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 oh I did. I went through all I could find a few days ago. Your constant starring in disbelief during the breakdown cracked me up.
Thank you for doing N.J. justice. Though they are more "evolved" in their approach, I honestly feel like they delivered a top-10 song with some of the best breakdowns of this year (2022).
This band was out when I first got into metal? And I never heard their stuff? So, am I getting in on their best work, or are they disappointing people with this? On the track, was NOT expecting that last breakdown. I thought we were all done home and dry no more variation, then that wondrous filth hit. 10 hour edit please.
There's definitely an argument to say that the last couple of records are their best stuff, although I''ll always say their 3rd album Redeemer is an all timer.
I just can't get into Norma Jean anymore unfortunately. They were my favorite band in junior high, got to see them play live three times between 2002 - 2006ish. Only really liked Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child and Oh God the Aftermath (as well as all their stuff when they were Luti Kriss). Their stuff is just kind a meh now.

Completely agree!
This!
How do you miss "this era" of metalcore when the song is recent...

Bro so much in their discography to enjoy. Legends.
Hard I’m the beginning, soft in the middle, hard again at the end. Just like my erectile dysfunction.
........ 👀 BLEGH
They’ve always been heavy. Check out the breakdown on Anna off of All Hail.

so rare in the genre, they are top notch

What a fresh metalcore track! So many influences perfectly mixed, LOVE IT!
This song sounds like if Jack White produced a metalcore song. Great video man!
I was hoping you would get around to this one! Absolutely love Norma Jean and I'm so pumped for their new album. This breakdown goes dummy.
Yes!!!!
I never ate falafel - Norma Jean is one of the most consistent band ever. This song is a freakin banger. I already know "Deathrattle Sing For Me" will be a contender for my AOTY.
Really strong AOGHAU and LF//LT Sam Carter vocal vibes on this track. Love it.
Dude I have been waiting for you and the other reaction channels to get to this. Thank the heavens!
Check out mine!

@@mckeoncrawford9262 hahaha thanks bro!
This is what Architects could have been
Yes. If they were lead by Cory and their name was Norma Jean
Facts
TOTY contender for sure, so many perfect transitions and the outro is perfect!! FALAFEL
Absolutely my favorite song on the album. Between the intense singing screaming in the chorus and that ridiculous breakdown, it sounds amazing
Its like next level pissed Underoath…and I love it!
Definitely reminiscent of Spencer Chamberlain, but a more skillful and dynamic vocalist I think. And I've been a lifelong Underoath fanboy
Greatest metal band on earth...
Norma Jean hadn't made a bad song in the past 6 years tbh. Loved the review bro (falafel)
Been waiting for you to hear this one!!!
To me this is still heavier than lorna shore. Dark, pissed off, nightmare filled chorus and breakdowns that's actually hit
Absolutely heavier
whatever helps you sleep
I had a feeling this would be more up your alley Birb!
I'm curious what you'd make of the new Disturbed single
Fallafel dude😁
I’m super impressed am I the only one who thinks the vocalist sounds like Sam Carter??
Nope. I was thinking the same thing.
Other way around, Cory has like 10 years on Sam.
Love them. Last album was fucking amazing. This was great
That bridge kind of reminded me of Polaris
Damn, I wonder if Stray From the Path is heavily influenced by these guys. Would not surprise me.
This is more of the norma Jean I grew up with and love. I like the heavier norma Jean..Can't wait to hear the new album.
Twitch chat
Damn, Norma Jean went baritone. More christian bands should do that too. 😀

Full album now lad. Looking forward to your reaction. Phenomenal album.
Now all we need is that new from The Chariot 🤘🏻
Bro you’re on fire with this video , with the bow 😂
Norma jean is insane, one more beautiful sweet song.
I needed something old schoolish but still fresh and new and this delivered on all fronts i loved it. Falafel
I love Norma Jean. One of my favorites since I was 14
The first full song I've heard from these guys and I wasn't disappointed.
Lafafel \m/
Yeah this song absolutely slaps
Holy falafel! You finally got around to the best release this month!
The fucking hooks in this song are godlike. Reminds me of Haste the Day and Sleep Token had a baby with Sam Carter of Architects
Glad to hear them get back to there roots again. This is what we all loved them for.
That last breakdown is crunchier than my aunt's burnt falafel
This new era of NJ I’m loving it!
Word New Jersey has been growing and is becoming a great state to raise your kids!
FINALLY
Shades of The Chariot in here, IMO
Holy Falafel! Great video man! Loved this track, It's been on repeat for me. It gave some vibes of All Hail. Love your content, Keep it coming!
FINALLY!!
What in the holy fuck was that ending 😲
Seen them live worn silent planet. They are goated
Falafel
This song is firrrreee. These guys age like fine wine!
I loved this band when they were Luti- kriss
Falafel. Oh f yes, this is the Norma jean we know and love! what a tune!
Next one The Chariot please 🙏🏻
LLNN Parallels. Sounds oddly familiar 🧐
Falafel 👌🏼 bro…you have to check out Spacebank by Steaksauce Moustache. It’s Dillinger meets Every time I die. You will love it!!
Check out Plight of the Wicked and Survivors Torment by Diamonds to Dust
Modern Metalcore lacks the Energy bands like Norma Jean consistently bring.
This song Fcks hard
Banger
Spearmeint lol
His vocal is like Fronz from Attila and Jamie from Polaris put together
Never thought of that lol
I can See people die in the pit at this breakdown
falafel. banger song!
Very architects sounding but only 1000x better. Fuck this is a great return for Norma Jean
FINALLY. I’m so excited.
Falafel is amazing. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Right now Norma Jean and TDWP are the only 2 I could see taking album of the year from EE

Norma Jean has consistently put out bangers their whole career. They’ve got a hell of discography and you should definitely dig into it.
There's definitely an argument to say that the last couple of records are their best stuff, although I''ll always say their 3rd album Redeemer is an all timer.
react to lutri-kriss blacksmith
I never found out if I won BOTB tho 😓
Oh you won
@@METALBIRB you already know my song request hahahahaha
this band goes hard Norma Jean don't play
