Usually the BFQs with Richard Ayoade and Noel Fielding are my absolute favs but this one is right up there and especially the wine segment is one of my top 3 "I didn't know I was smiling until I stopped smiling" moments ever. Fabulous! Also, Kristen Schaal going "Bethesda" for "Balthazar" and no one else recognizing it, seemingly not even Jonathan Ross, whilst Jimmy was implying that nothing with that name even exists, was equal parts endearing and equal parts maddening.
Jonathan probably just thought making some Elder Scrolls reference or something wouldn’t have been funny and didn’t say anything. There is no way he didn’t recognize it.

Came across this after watching a few Mitchell and Webb episodes and immideately fell for it. I like how this has a genuine pub quiz vibe. It's also great that they always seem to find those American comedians who fit right in. Best bits for me: David's "I've never knowingly struck a man", Mel "With Corbyn I'd share a sherry, but Snow......rrrrrrr!" or "Craig David all over my boooong", that helicopter thing by Kristen, and Jimmy's " "It's a good thing David Cameron wasn't here" with the pig mask.
David's premonition at 36:50 of William Shakespeare coining phrases is just as impressive as, but not as funny as, Jack Whitehall conjuring Mr Blobby in that one quiz.
I LOVED this group. Usually the Quizzes have one person that doesn't really participate much or jive with the others (which is an understatement with Mel B) but I loved the sheer waves of comedy from this group.

BUT the funniest line of that bit was after Jimmy noticing that Kristen had pulled a hair out of her Energy Ball container, Mel apologizes and then said, "Upper or lower hair?" I cracked up and then Kristen topped the sundae with "It was brown", I completely lost it! Maybe only people who dye their hair would find it funny, but the idea of a brown pubic hair when Mel is showing blonde hair struck me as hilarious.

One of my favorite episodes, one of the best overall casts I've seen on one of these. As a kid I had a huge crush on Kristin from Flight of the Conchords and then Mel from Taskmaster, so seeing them team up perfect.
I'm convinced Joey says 'breast friend' at 16:20 and I can't tell if that's the most ironic slip of the tongue in all of history or a very, very clever, underappreciated joke.

What kept me watching when I realized Richard Ayoade wasn’t here was Mel and Kristen together- they are unpredictably awkward and made the show. Claudia was also on point that day and had some great lines- the bit about the horses on her shirt was quite quick witted .

The tape, rather than placed vertically along the side of the door, which would have hidden the tape from sight while the door is in the closed position, was instead placed on horizontally such that one end of the piece of tape was on the "interior" of the door and then wrapped around the side over the bolt, and then wrapped around again onto the "exterior" of the door. With the tape placed as such, it would be visible while the door was in the closed position. Hence, a night watchman during his rounds noticed the tape on the basement door. At first, he didn't think much of it, and merely removed the tape, and shut the door. Then later that night, he had noticed the door was taped a second time, and this is when he decided to phone the police and report a burglary. I just find it interesting how such a minute mistake like the positioning of a piece of tape can thwart such a tremendous political crime! I have no doubt that many have committed much worse political crimes prior and since Nixon, and although those crimes are devastatingly significant, it is not the corrupt politicians who worry me the most, but rather it is their controllers and their endgame which is beyond terrifying!!!
But what let them prove he knew what was going on was the recordings he made. The theory to why he made those recordings tends to be him having an obsession with preserving his historical record, though I don’t think we really know for sure. The part I find even more baffling, which I think historians are still unsure about, is why he didn’t destroy the recording when it became clear it was wanted as evidence. Of course it would look suspicious, but not as suspicious as your own words betraying you.
You can see Jimmy getting talked to in his ear throughout that whole champaign thing "Don't you let them do it, don't you fecking dare let em use that big one" "Too late, they've boiled over...."

Great episode, a perfect pairing, and very funny, but I'm most impressed with David Mitchel's answers regarding sport! Who knew. I adore him.
