  • You guys said it in the comments and I finally listened! Go with what works and dial that in before trying something new. Went back to my original left foot back soul grinds and had a pretty successful day on the P-rail. Now if I can take it to the park again.

      Yea, I am feeling a little worse for the wear today though, took a nasty spill on the skateboard yesterday and tweaked my knee - ugggggg. That seems to happen more and more as I get older, just can't move quick enough to catch myself.

    Grinding a practice rail that low is easy to jump on, but there is no time to save yourself when you miss. I had a bike rack I would go to. Could grind the bottom rail, but could grab the top rail to keep from falling.

    • @theaverageoldguy
      @theaverageoldguy  Před měsícem +1

      Yep, the falling is getting to me a bit. I have raised it up 4 inches and have a new video with that somewhere in the backlog, hope to get that out soon.

    Fair play man, got there with the Soul 💪🏼 I struggle to skate at 41 nowadays let alone 63!

      The struggle is there for sure. I would love to be able to do more, but my body just won't cooperate!

    Looking good! I'm 42 and getting back into it. For the driveway warm up, I do some dynamic stretches including those squats you mentioned. I sometimes add in jumping jacks, but most of the warm up is skating back and forth for a few laps. I include heel and toe rolls in the laps, some backward, etc just anything I can manage to use different muscles. Then for the rail, I test it out and do some stalls before committing to a real grind.

    • @theaverageoldguy
      @theaverageoldguy  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks! That's what I try to do and it just never feels like I get warmed up without some transition skating. I guess at the park its just more fun to warm up and I manage to do it longer and feel better.

    Looking great, you mentioned some videos ago you considered maybe raising the P-rail a little bit. Maybe that's an option if you wanna continue expanding that side if it's starting to feel too easy. Anyway, great video!

      I have raised it up 4 inches and have a video of that in the backlog, hopefully coming out soon. I am trying to work on getting up on the rail at the park. That one is a little over a foot high and those last few inches make all the difference in the world to me.

    I used to do a lot of things like BMX, skateboarding and roller skating in the 1980's, but those things fell to the wayside by the time I was in my 30's and focused on relationships and career.
    Now in my 40's I have money and more free time to begin rollerblading.

      @theaverageoldguy  Před měsícem +1

      I have done a bunch of sports over my lifetime and only picked up blading last year with my son and it has been a blast. I think you will enjoy it, the 40's were a great decade for me.
