@@jenniferborri9606 my pleasure! I love the combination of those! Glad you found a pair you like :)
Went in July and brought a hat, gloves, waterproof hikers, rain coat, splash pants and an umbrella, and was glad I did. We were warm and dry. Some passengers dressed like they were going to a fashion show and not Alaska.
Interesting. I definitely dressed comfortably. I feel it’s most important & wouldn’t do it any other way
I'm going on an Alaskan Cruise in 5 days! I'm getting all my stuff together! So excited 🎉
Yay!! Enjoy 👏
I recently found ski pant leggings with zippers. Next Alaskan cruise I will take them. They’re thick, warm & they look great.
I did not take warm enough clothes when I went to Alaska. I did one of the first cruises of the season. I am from Canada and thought I would be okay layering a rain jacket and a fleece. I was not prepared for how cold it would be on the water with the wind. I am packing warmer clothes for my upcoming cruise.
You’re right. Thanks for sharing
I have a vacation hack that I haven’t heard Anyone Mention but I will NOT Travel Without It! I tend to get “toilet shy” when traveling and with all of the food (the we don’t usually eat) I tend to get a little irregular, and we all know that can make you feel miserable and by the end of your trip you feel horrible. With that being said I always pack Ducolax, Miralax or Smooth Move Tea. I know this sounds like TMI but it’s real and it human. I will take the medication on the evening before a sea day. With this hack I no longer have to worry about bloating or the sluggish feeling and I can eat what I want.
You will thank me later 😊hope this helps
Totally agree! It happens every time I travel.
Thanks for sharing. True our eating patterns & stomach issues can affect our cruise & comfort. Thanks for sharing
I agree completely. I take the tea bags. Also tums for those acid reflux days
I preferred my neck pouch to a crossbody bag - and I bought a lanyard-type attachment for my phone to dangle it round my neck too. And I was very glad I had invested in a camera with a good zoom - I wear glasses and find binoculars very hard to use, so my camera was a good alternative, even when I wasn't taking a photo.
Thanks for sharing! :)
Good tip! Thanks
As a fellow Canuck, I’m disappointed you didn’t refer to that lovely knit hat by its proper name, the toque. 😂
Haha I don’t think I say tuque much in practice
i thought a toque is what chefs wear....?🧑🍳
I always use my iPhone except when we went to Alaska. I brought my pro camera and my extra lenses. They weighed a ton but when I was home the pictures were unbelievable. I even took one picture of a glacier caving that the ships photographed wanted a copy of.
Amazing! I do think it’s well worth it
I did not take enough pants or socks! Rain = wet feet. I packed shorts, t-shirts, and sunscreen and did not use any of them. Otherwise, we did pretty well. We did not take binoculars and didn't really need them. We had a pod of orcas right off the side of the ship one day and the only times I wanted a closer look, the zoom lens on my camera was plenty. We got extremely close to Hubbard glacier. My dad actually forgot his camera! He bought two single-use cameras at Target in Seattle before the cruise, but we don't know how those photos turned out yet. Except for sunglasses, warm hats and rain jackets, we did not take or need any of the other things you mentioned. We're from Wisconsin, so we're very used to dressing for cold weather and prefer to only carry things in pockets. One thing I would add (not for Alaska, but for Holland America) is something orange to wear for orange night.
Wool socks are a must for cold weather
Good one
Returned yesterday... Rainy, but was good nonetheless. Agreed with your tips. Royal Princess from Seattle.
Thanks for sharing! You just never know when it comes to weather & rain in Alaska
Yes, I live in Alaska and at my job I see alot of tourists that complain they never thought it would be this warm so they didn't bring short sleeve shirts, shorts, sandals etc., but even when it is 70⁰ ot 80⁰ you are probably going to need the warm hats, jackets, and gloves because it will still be cool omln the water and even though it may be dry on land it may very well be raining on the water.
Very interesting point. Thanks for sharing - it’s something many cruisers wouldn’t realize

Heading to Alaska on celebrity in July. Thanks for the tips!!! Hoping to have a blast
Sunblock is a must whether sunny or snowing. Thanks for the tips Ilana.
Thanks for sharing
Great video and I made my list of your suggestions for our Alaskan cruise.
Thank you for the fantastic information!!! BTW you have an amazing smile 😃
Glad the video was helpful & thank you for your kind comment 😊
So much great info! Thanks so much for sharing!!
So glad this was helpful! :)
Thank you so much for this video, cruise lady! You have some great tips on what to bring on an Alaskan cruise. I went on one last year and it was amazing. I definitely agree with you on the binoculars. They were so useful for spotting wildlife and scenery along the way. I saw whales, bears, eagles, glaciers, and more. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks again for sharing your advice and experience. You are awesome! 😊
So glad to hear your experience!! I’m definitely team Binoculars 🙌
WOW... GREAT HACK! My wife has a sensitive digestive system so this is absolutely a HUGE tip. We had not considered needing addressing this before. Much appreciated.
Good timing for this video, I'm actually packing for oir Alaskan cruise right now. 😂
Yay!!! Enjoy your cruise 👏
I really appreciate your tips
Thanks for another great video! 🚢🚢
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching:)
Another great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Great video! Going to Alaska June 20th! 😍
Have an amazing cruise!
I forgot to pack a pair of black Oxfords for dinner. I had to wait until we got to Skagway. It's been five years and I still have them.
Uggghh my husband forgot similar shoes once before for a cruise
Thanks for the content!
Thanks for watching:)
Tip: a pair of pantyhose or opaque tights underneath leggings or even pants adds a comfortable lightweight surprisingly effective layer of warmth.
Good one 👏
Great video ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Linda for watching:)
Sunblock. Even away from the glaciers the sun seemed more intense then I’m used to.
Good one!
I am very fair skinned and I had taken sunblock, but despite several sunny days on my cruise I never needed to use it.
@@hobnobkitkat thanks for sharing
In Alaska?! 😂
Yup! I forgot to put it on in Sitka and got a good burn 😢
Nice tips.
So glad you enjoyed the video! :)
Just got back from our first Alaskan cruise (end of May into first week of June). For your suggestion regarding shorts I took "convertible" pants where i could zip off the legs if i got too warm. Easy flexibility on shore excursions! And never needed the shorts, but glad thar i had the option.
Good one!

This information was excellent! I’m more ready for our Alaska cruise in September. Will this information be in the ultimate cruise planner?
So glad it was helpful! The planner includes a general Alaska packing list, along with blank lists you can personalize
Oh man. Cross body bag is a GOOD idea.
Life saving 👏😂
Our cruise was the last week of May. Rained the entire time, but we were prepared. Rain jackets, waterproof boots. Layers. Heavier coats and sweatshirts I packed in compression. Bags. Sun came out last day. Shorts.
I know.... Juneau was horrible 😢. Still had fun otherwise.
Thanks for sharing! It seems you never know with Alaska weather, but at least you could enjoy it as you were prepared
Hello! I'm going on an Alaska cruise in July! Where did you get the crossbody bag? I really like the specific one you used.
The one I’m wearing is from Lululemon. I love it, but don’t have a link :)
We are leaving in 10 days to fly to Seattle to board the Celebrity Solstice for our Alaskan Cruise, we’ve planning this cruise for about two years & now it’s almost here we are so excited. Thank-you for all your awesome videos you’ve helped us immensely. GOD BLESS!!!
That’s so exciting!! What a great cruise - enjoy & I’m so glad the videos have been a help :)
Enjoy. We got rained out in Juneau last week. Hopefully you guys get much better weather.
We will be on the same cruise. Hope to see you on board.
We did this same itinerary in Aug 2019 - enjoy! If you can tack any additional time on in Seattle, you won’t regret it. It’s a great, walkable city. We spent a day before and 2 days after there.
First time going to Alaska this Friday
Enjoy!
My wife and I have booked our first 7 day Alaska cruise on HA Eurodom 9/7/2024 leaving Seattle. We are enjoying your posted content. Since you are sailing in May and us in September, we are curious on what weather should we expect during the late shoulder season. I understand there is a weather difference between peak summer season to late shoulder seasons but we're not clear especially as it relates to packing. The second question is what opportunities are there to view the Northern Lights. Lastly, what adventure advise is out there if one chooses to NOT book excursions through the cruise line? Any tips/tricks focusing on non-cruise line excursions would be FANTASTIC. We greatly appreciate your opinion and will absolutely be factored in to our planning. "BY FOR NOW"

@@LifeWellCruised Of course ❣️❣️❣️
In the military they told us and proved in Alaska. Head, Hands, Feet keep covered.
Makes sense 👏
@@LifeWellCruised The way they proved it was 30 minutes in 20 degrees no hat no gloves and wet socks. Then they asked for volunteers to go try again. Hat gloves fresh socks and dry boots...boxers no uniform. I lasted 45 minutes with 30mph winds. Hands in pocket is great but no pocket? Ouch Always fresh socks! They provided boot dryers. Cruise ships it's not as crucial but head, feet and and hands are. No reason to recreate the wheel just do it. Another trick, many hardware stores have gloves that you can type with. $5 vs $20 + Mine are fleese lined with pads on finger tips.
Love ya Dear. Capt Mark aka River
I've never been to Alaska but I'm a huge fan of their dessert 😂
Haha can’t deny that’s good 😂
@@LifeWellCruised Those sunglasses you wore *did* look so cute on you with the hat too!
@@colormetakenaback lol thanks! They were so light & comfortable & easy to wear :)
I love your helpful videos, especially on Alaska. We are leaving on HA Eurodam on 9/14/24. I noticed in your video that you had a blanket wrapped around your shoulders while standing on your little deck. Did you bring it with you or did you purchase it while in Alaska? Thank you!
Celebrity offers umbrella and binoculars for their passengers. We had in our cabin everything to be comfortable.
That’s awesome!
California Linda shares that sunglasses and sunscreen are essential, and I have started bringing a thin small cuttingboard 8x10 for carrying items from the International Cafe to the cabin. No more spilled coffee or treats in transition to the cabin.
That’s actually a smart idea
Hello there 💕I am a new subscriber and I love love love your videos, so many great tricks and tips that are well appreciate it!!
Is it OK to put a lock on your luggage before you hand it over to the porters, the date of your cruise? I am asking because I usually put a lock on my luggage before leaving for the airport, but on embark meant day if they need to get into your luggage for any reason, will be cut it open if there’s a lock attached to it..
My understanding is that locks should be the TSA ones so they can unlock if needed :)
Thank you
When is the best time to cruise to Alaska? Cheapest?
Thanks for sharing. I wanted to ask or inquire, I’m going on Alaska cruise next month August I wanted to know the weather and if I still needed to take jacket and long sleeve t shirts and or a hat to be safe. I do have my poncho because I’m sure it might rain. Thanks again
It should be moderate/possibly warm in Alaska in August so a light jacket or fleece should be fine, but check the forecasts to be sure. Mornings can still be cool, as well as glacier days
Going on our first Alaskan cruise next month. Thank you for bringing up the coffee mug. My wife is a heavy coffee drinker.
Very exciting!!
My pleasure. You can also order room service coffee & fill it or head to the buffet or cafe to fill
A decent thermo drink mug, is a must……so are the touch screen gloves, as well as binoculars 👍
Miss Alaska yet?? Planning You next Cruise back ?? We
came back a few weeks before your Cruise and already
We are looking to go again .. And , Cruise ON !!!
I do! I really liked Alaska more than I expected. Now I’m looking at our “next” cruises 😂. Planning is part of the fun, right?
I Ilana! Can you post the link to the exact Lulu belt bag/crossbody that you have? I'm thinking your's is the Everywhere Belt Bag, but I want to make sure I get the one you have as the strap looks like it extends out nicely. Thanks!👛
The one I have is Lululemon. Unfortunately I can’t recall the exact one (was gift from my son)
It’s the Lulu everywhere belt bag in large, 2L. 😊
@@monicaao69 Thank you so much. I appreciate this! 🤗
Hello, can anyone confirm if most places in Alaska take Visa/Mastercard? Will we need US dollars or can we just use our credit cards?
Thanks!
Can you bring food off the ship, or go back to the ship for lunch on this Alaska cruise itinerary?
You can return to the ship for lunch. There are always rules for what you can’t bring off in ports - usually fruits, vegetables & meat but best to check on the ship to be sure
Can you please also use the metric system? A lot of your viewers are not from the USA...
Thank you for all your directions and advice! When you went to Alaska did you use Port Valet for your luggage back to the airport?
I didn’t. We took the cruise line transfer & they put your luggage in the compartment for everyone. Vancouver airport is very easy
How was the Wi-Fi on your Alaskan cruise?
I had the premium but it was surprisingly good. I believe this ship upgraded to Starlink recently
You mentioned in the video that you had lip gloss, but I was expecting to hear lip balm, especially for people with drier skin. I'd expect on non-rainy days the cold would cause pretty quick dry-outs. Also, thought you would discuss moisturizing lotion and/or sunscreen, especially after you mentioned polarizing glasses. Should I change my list?
I was there in May, so for me this worked. However I would bring sunscreen & lip balm (if you use this at home). Moisturizer is probably handy (I always have some
I don’t see the link for the crossbody.
It’s listed as belt bag
Have you done a video talking about how we can know the qualifications of the ship captain?
I had heard that some countries have minimal requirements and qualifications for their captains as apposed to say the US.
I haven’t - while it’s an interesting topic, it’s likely a better fit for another channel
@@LifeWellCruised Interesting response. I will seek my answer elsewhere but I do appreciate you getting back to me.
Very nice videos and information, but PLEASE straighten the horizon on your title intro! Please?
Glad the video was helpful:)
I know you guys all know each other and it's not a competition but I just wanted to congratulate you for surpassing Don's family vacations in total subscribers. Don was my introduction to cruising videos he's awesome and I like his videos but I have a giant complaint about him which is he hasn't stepped foot on a Carnival Cruise ship in like a decade and to me that is unacceptable! As a Carnival fan I feel snubbed by Don. If you want to call yourself a professional cruise vlogger you need to at least once every couple of years cruise on a cruise line even if you don't like them that much. Carnival appeals to millions of people around the world and him completely avoiding them is is a huge misstep and it's slowing his growth. I think one of the reasons he's getting passed on subscriber counts by much younger channels like yours, The Shiplife and La Lido Loca is because people are tired of listening to him cruising on and talking about mainly Princess Cruises with the occasional Royal and Celebrity and Holland cruise in between. Channels like yours and the other two I mentioned are constantly showing not only cruise news but their experiences onboard almost all Cruise Lines or least all of the major players and not just repeating two or three brands like he does. I hope as you grow your channel you don't forget to cruise on Carnival once in a while and give some Carnival specific tips. Congratulations again on your success.
Thanks! I definitely don’t see any of this as a competition but I appreciate your support & feedback. Btw, I am hoping/planning on cruising with Carnival in the next few months. It’s been over a decade so definitely due
