Mexico, Chile, Canada, Columbia, Brazil, etc. are involved with the US Food supply. Foreign companies own tons of US agribusiness and food distribution. What is the problem we are tying to fix?

Twisted tax law could be enacted by a strong, effective IRS that would deter foreign acquisitions of American farmland and if the foreigners choose to keep their acquisitions then the US could hook them up with hefty taxes. Just saying!

Question: Why is China buying American farmland? Are they buying farmland anywhere else? Who else is buying farmland? None of this makes much sense to me. I feel like I don't have all the information.

@ummerrahh The idea that China is using US farmland to feed Chinese citizens is ridiculous. Only someone who knows ZERO about modern farming would believe that. Also, why does the US own foreign farmland? Maybe as part of some agribusiness? None of this makes sense.

Saudi Arabia is buying up a lot of land and water rights in the US. They grow water intensive crops and ship them back to their country.

why shouldn't; china another foreign players buy it up? America is for sale to the highest bidder. China is not. many other countries; even third world countries; have rural land laws and look at farmland as a form of "homeland security"

Since the US investors can't own land in China, they shouldn't be allowed the same. It's why China keeps one upping us. We let them get away with far more than China lets us do. There's no equivalent treatment between the two sides.
