Depending on the brand and the over-all construction, anything over 15mph would cause a bias to shreek. They are great straight-line tires but are not constructed for cornering. Hence, we evolved into radial construction.

It looks like they may have destroyed 2 Chevys in this scene as it appears that the one in most of the sequence had a dog dish hubcap on the LR and the one in the crash had a full wheel cover. The paint job looks worse than the $89.99 low end job that you would gotten at Earl Scheib's back then.
At 1:41 that Mom had situational awareness and motherly instincts kicked in got her baby out of danger before the Impala crashed into that Cadillac she was driving

I've squealed my tires on sand. If it's packed, you can squeal your tires.
