Taking sugar water from wild palm trees, is through male flowers. The male flower grows in the middle of the palm stem, in contrast to the flower to be a fruit, it grows above the leaf midrib.
The way is by banging or hitting on the trunk of the surrounding tree where the male flower stalk grows and then swinging for several days so that the wild bunches and palm flowers turn brown and the flower has bloomed, then cut the flower stalk, do not break the stalk. The process of hitting the stems and bunches of flowers lasts up to several days.
Sugar water drips out of the capacity through bamboo so that water is collected from morning to evening to approximately 10 liters when palm trees are fertile.
Palm sugar water, is taken to produce various products such as candy, palm sugar, vinegar and other sweetening ingredients.
People use palm trees for work, especially for the large people of Aceh, because palm trees are widely distributed in human settlements, the opportunity is used to get additional results for the community.
Water fibers that have collected a lot of sweets and also cooked into palm sugar tapping business have become home industries that produce vinegar in Aceh Besar District, Aceh province.
