In this series we have looked at popular areas to use Botulinum Toxin within aesthetic medicine. Botulinum Toxin can be used in a variety of areas around the face to help relax muscles and restructure the face.
One of the popular advanced treatments we have spoken about before is the Nefertiti lift. Close to this area there is another use of Botulinum Toxin in the lower face, treating the muscles near the mouth otherwise known as Depressor Anguli Oris.
    Depresser: pull down
    Anguli: at an angle
    Oris: of the mouth
The muscle comes from the mouth to the chin and when active it pulls down the corner of the mouth which can result in patients looking sad with downturned corners of the mouth.
By putting Botulinum Toxin injections in this area, it can lift the corners back up by relaxing the muscles and patients can look happier and reduce the need for filler.

Why does this muscle subconsciously pull down and kind of like get stuck ? Is that from face tension/ anxiety? I need a massage so bad

It's from emotions that we have experienced. Usually if you've gone through a lot of sadness your facial muscles will store it. Thats where wrinkles come from, emotions. Rather than bad skin or just getting older. The older you get the more you experience and less uou can let go. Look into sculptural face lifting. It's a wonderful massage and manipulation method that works wonders.

It's emotions you have experienced, which you need to release. Look up sculptural face lifting. It helps a lot!

Why are you using a 22 year old as your example this is meaningless

Because many 22 year olds have downturned smiles and they don’t want to get surgery for it.
