  • Despite growing awareness about domestic violence, it is still not easy for people in domestic violence relationships to share what they are going through, nor is it easy for them to ask for help. Domestic violence incidents increase during the holidays. Jill, a survivor of domestic violence, and whose one-year anniversary of leaving her relationship was yesterday, the day after Christmas, shares her story.

Domestic abuse is no fun at all! You got yourself out. Congratulation! You are free now. I decided to get out of my family. I no longer contact with them. I care, respect and love myself now. My soul moves up higher.

My siblings experienced domestic violence and other by their Mom’s husband and uncle. Everyday they struggle from triggers, lack of confidence and self worth, tend to have feelings of guilt performing daily duties such as shopping. One described feeling guilt about buying a candy bar or makeup bc that wasn’t allowed… you are the strongest ppl because of how far you’ve come and how hard you had to fight to get there! Keep fighting and I hope you continue to get the support and love you deserve!!!

Put yourself first as well as your son. Stand up what you believe in and use your own power to protect yourself and your son. Don’t let others tell you what you can’t. Put your chin up and look forward.😊
