    In this video, we take the ferry over to nearby Quadra Island and explore the Lucky Jim Historic Mine. Then we take a walk along picturesque Rebecca Spit.
    I provide footage of the ocean spits large boulder and driftwood beach, views across to the coastal mountains to the east and the sheltered anchorage of Heriot Bay.

    This makes my heart ache. So many bare boat charters in desolation sound & Strait of Georgia, Octopus Islands, Princess Lousia Inlet, Forbes Bay, etc. Thanks for taking me along. Its 100 and something in the Coachella Valley but headed to Priest Lake Idaho for 2-1/2 weeks. Check out Priest Lake.

    We certainly have it pretty good as full time RV'ers. We get to enjoy this area of Vancouver Island all summer which is gorgeous and then head out adventuring south in the winter. If there is a circumstance that dictates that we spend a winter here in the RV, it is mild enough that it is OK to do. We are very lucky.

    Well since I've never and likely won't ever get to Quadra Island...been close but never did. Anyways you luckily went and I love your videos so here we go...my almost real life adventure LOL...Only bummer is it's not over an HOUR long. Love your music you played in this also...good choices keep it up!
    Also how's your STARLINK working out? Mines running great in Northern Ontario (East of Sault Ste. Marie Ont) on the Highway 17 East Trans Canada!
    Unreal beauty isn't it, how can anyone like Florida? Florida the flat-sandy tower walls of high rises lining the whole beaches ugh. Look at this man!

    Just wanted to say again that I really enjoy seeing more things around your area. That area has so many fantastic places to explore. Hope you can do more of them. Know you have lots to do and do like the Mod’s and DIY projects. I was google looking around. One day will do in person. Ha. Know you have been to Elk Falls. Looks like an amazing place to go. Maybe a day trip there ? Canyon View Trail Bridge, Deer Falls, and that Elk Falls suspension bridge !! Wow

      My children live on Quadra Island and our twin grandchildren love it! They ride bikes, go to the local grade school, library, grocery store, the open market when they can. Both parents work on the island, Heriot Bay Inn and Taku Resort, teach voice lessons, and are in the process of developing a photography business on island and Vancouver island. I have walked the Spit and the lovely open area at the center for a picnic or a festival.thanks for letting me take a virtual hike there. Charlotte Maffin, Idaho

    You're making want to spend some time on those Islands. Beautiful. Your camera is really taking some great video. You can rent the Pacific Yellowfin by the week. Luxury Yacht rental company owns it. 95k a week. They must include the crew to run it. I googled the boat. Thanks for sharing your vacation time.

    Hey Ray, do you guys have an “our story” video where you talk about your history and the life path that lead you to full time rving. You are a very interesting guy, i would love to hear more about your previous life. My wife and I are in preparation mode, and i have watched at least half of all your videos. Thanks

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  Před 5 lety

      Thanks. :) No, haven't done too many videos about our history and preparing for the lifestyle, we don't do our videos as a couple like lots of other CZcamsrs, Anne has her own separate photography thing going on, also we started full-timing over 8 years ago and vlogging wasn't that popular, mostly it was blogging back then. I didn't even have a blog or CZcams channel, but Anne had her photography blog up and running and wrote a bunch of posts about the transition. You can find them here in this blog category, they are listed in reverse chronological order - annemckinnell.com/category/1i-am-changing-my-life/ Cheers! Ray

    Hey Ray; thought I'd share a really cool Google Maps tip that I learned the other day. Put your route into GMaps, and instead of choosing the Car route, choose Bike and voila when you look at the route details you get your Elevation changes listed.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks, Maxx, I knew that one, but lots of times it won't show routes bikes can't go on like Interstate highways, etc. However there is a cool site that does a great job, check it out at theflattestroute.com The guy took it over from the old www.flattestroute.com/ and has been actively developing it. Cheers, Ray

    thanks for sharing. I plan to head to Campbell River in Sept to visit family. I think instead of going to Tofino, I might just head over to Quadra Island where I used to stay when I was a teenager I was even thinking of going over to Cortez Island as well. Does the mine and Rebeccas Spit shop up on Google maps?

    Ray the harbour beside rebecca spit is Drew Harbour - not Heriot bay - Heriot bay is the next bay over where the ferry landing is.

    • @LoveYourRV

    We really enjoy your videos, they’re so beautiful. However being from Chicago we’re not familiar with all those coastal terms you use. We can ask Alexa what an estuary is, but had no luck asking her what a spit is 😂

      Thanks. :)
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spit_(landform)
      A spit or sandspit is a deposition bar or beach landform off coasts or lake shores. It develops in places where re-entrance occurs, such as at a cove's headlands, by the process of longshore drift by longshore currents. The drift occurs due to waves meeting the beach at an oblique angle, moving sediment down the beach in a zigzag pattern. This is complemented by longshore currents, which further transport sediment through the water alongside the beach. These currents are caused by the same waves that cause the drift

      That's actually REALLY funny....spit! I know I lived on the Island for a bit and in the Vancouver area and one that always got me was Dees Slough...I called it Slaw and everytime I did not only did people laugh but corrected me...it never worked I called it Dees Slaw....It's a tunnel that goes under the Slaw to allow ships to pass over LOL...
