  • The Messor colony! It's time for these ants to move into their new formicarium. The whole move took 3 days because there was a unfortunately surprising. This colony needs more space than I thought. Have fun watching the move!

    👍 love it great video, I am not able to get that type of ant in my area, so always great to have the ability to see them in someway. Been collecting ant for 40 years, but just figured out how to keep them alive, great feeling after all these years to be a antkeeper and not just a watcher.

      On the left and right side behind the front nest are additionally nests. I've made the chamber about twice as deep as the front chambers. So I hope there should be space for about 2000 ants in this formicarium. It should be enough space for this year. I really hope so ^^

    Just an opinion.... i think you wasted space in the middle, Id of drilled all the way through the bocks and filled the middle section with ground the can dig and create their own bigger nest area. That way when they need extra space they will make it themselves

    • @WAGgymSuperFan
      @WAGgymSuperFan Před 6 lety

      Sergi Calvet Carné Messors need nests to be in the dry side. They comne from dry parts of the world. They store seeds underground so if it was too moist the seeds would sprout and rot

  • @thepaperbros6097
    @thepaperbros6097 Před 6 lety

    I have a question about the old nest:Did you ever directly water the main nest area,where they store their brood,their seeds etc. ? I'm asking because I'm unsure if I should water mine.I'm worried that the seeds would sprout.

    • @AmazingAnts
      @AmazingAnts  Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah I often watered their old nest directly. The ants take care for the seeds, they always store them at a dry spot. Just watch them after watering, you will see if your ants like or hate the moisture. :

    Hello friend
    Is it possible for a Barbaros ant to accept eggs of the same quality but from another colony
    I really want to know
    Because I put a few larvae to my queen Barbaros.
    I didn't see any strange behavior except that the queen had kissed the larvae.
    But what I'm afraid of is that when the larvae grow up.
    To kill the queen.
    Is it possible 😭😭
    I only have a queen, so I'm afraid.

    Manno! Meine Messorkolonie ist zwar längst nicht so groß, aber sie sollten groß genug sein um gut umziehen zu können. Aber nein, selbst wenn ich ihr altes Nest austrockne sterben die lieber darin als in ein neues zu ziehen xD Hast du irgendwelche Tipps wie ich eine Kolonie mit geschätzt 100 Workern aud einem Erdnest in ein neues Nest bekomme? Mein Problem ist nicht nur, dass ich sie nicht gut sehe, sondern auch, dass sie große Körner und Insektenstücke die Glasscheibe hochbekommen -_- Und weil das Nest ungefähr 20x25cm groß ist wird es seeehhhr lange dauern bis das voll ist ;((
    Ich würd mich über Hilfe sehr freuen ^^ Du kannst dir auf meinem Kanal ein genauen Überblick über das Dilemma machen ;))
