Love how Richard Paige can insert spirituality into a song and not sound “preachy”.. This was an absolute masterpiece in ‘85, and it hasn’t lost much luster in the nearly 40 years.
This brought up a lot of memories of taking trips to see my grandparents on weekends and listening to Casey Kasem and his top 100 countdown and all the long distance dedications that this song was a part of… thank you Empress for this stroll in nostalgia and for a wonderful reaction!

The book, which was written in 1912, is a story of a love that is doomed by social convention. Its theme is echoed in this song: picking up the pieces of your life and moving on. There is a note of heartbreak, however, as the singer is asking the girl to spread her wings and fly away, hoping that love will bring her back.
Not a dove but rather a hawk that hunts doves. Hawks don't let a loss stop them from continuing on with the hunt. They are quite persistent and know another meal will show up as long as they don't stop hunting. I think you will enjoy more of Bryan Adams's singing if you check him out. Peace/JT
