Usually, if the Afro is not shaped with scissors or clippers, a lot of split ends will stick out from the curl sponge.

Totally off topic but 😂 but I want to ask a question about what type of blade to use. I currently own a Wahl seniors with a fade blade on, and have been recently watching video on “Taper vs Fade Blade” in aims to improve my fades and fading technique (which I have also done extensive research and technique trial from various barbers). I would like to ask if I should invest in a clipper with a taper blade to get more of those softer cleaner fades as mentioned in most of the comparison videos I’ve watched and what clipper of that I should get. Honestly, just you’re idea and though on fading technique and blade types is perfect.
Get a taper blade for your clippers. Also, you should buy the "Wahl Taper 2000". I bought them new for $40 on Ebay.
