  • Clevedon in North Somerset is a popular Victorian seaside resort near Bristol. (About 12 miles from Bristol).
I took the X6 bus there from Bristol Bus Station and got off at Salthouse Fields which is next to the promenade. It’s just a short walk accross the beach.
I started my walk at the Marine Lake and walked towards the iconic Clevedon Pier.
In this video I show you the miniature railway aswell as a selection of places to eat and drink along the sea front.

Good to see you’ve had a 99, Louise. 🙂 I’ve never visited but it looks quintessentially like seaside resorts I remembered from childhood. It’s nice that it hasn’t been spoilt.

      Thank you Ian!
Yes, I really liked that it is unspoiled too. The 99 was so good, especially after losing my last one 😊

This was a welcome delight midweek Louise! Haven't been to Clevedon myself for a little while - it is looking really good! I don't remember if I went there as a child in the 1970s, or not, so I can't comment on the yellow changing huts - hopefully someone will come along with the answer. That pier is so elegant - a masterpiece of Victorian engineering. Glad it has survived. Beautiful golden light across the pier at the end. Magical! Cheers, Paul.

Really enjoyed the walk Louise. So much history. How funny about the random tea set left on the boat! I hope you can visit again so we can see the pier close up!

Thanks Amanda! Yes, that was so random! 😁 One thing I enjoy about doing these videos is noticing stuff like that. If I was not filming, I would just rush by 😎 Yep, definitely hope to go another day to the pier close up!

The pier has had a lot of work lately and is in much better shape nowadays (I remember in years gone back when you used to be able to rock on the planks and slits between them are now narrower. Eep!
There's also a little cafe on the end (at the top of the central structure), a restaurant near the entrance and a small museum upstairs above the little shop (it has some very cool models of how the pier used to operate when ships used to pick up passengers - it's so clever!). And the people who work there are so lovely.
If you're looking for another walk at Clevedon I can highly recommend Poet's Walk - where you were by the pools if you go left instead of right - go up the steps into the trees and follow the path as it curves to the right - it goes through some woods, past a couple of lookout points with views out to the channel on the right and past a small but beautiful Church. Going this way it ends by some boats, turning left here following the road you go past some thatch cottages and it brings you back out on the main road. Turn left here to come back to the fields :)

Thanks Jesse! Oh wow! That’s great they have done so much work on it! The cafe, museum and staff sound brilliant.
Thanks for telling me about Poets Walk. I saw signs about it but did not have time to explore. That’s brilliant! Your directions sound really good to follow, so I will refer back to them when I go! I definitely need to make a return trip to Clevedon 🤗
