How to Hand Launch Your DJI Avata 2

- Hand launching your Avata 2 FPV Drone can open up a lot more opportunities to fly where the ground isn't suitable for a take-off and landing. I find myself hand launching the Avata 2 more times than ground launching.

Superb demo, Justin. Very useful. Thank you!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and found it useful! 😃
I started practicing that more because most of my launches are from dusty, dry grassy areas. I have concerns about putting that ‘twist’ of torque on the props/motors, or even. Effecting the gyros/GPS systems. With my Mini 3 and 4 Pro I’ve gotten accustomed to regular hand launches. The foldable landing pads aren’t always convenient either. Appreciate your great training for me!
Very helpful and the exact video I needed today. YT recommended. Algorithm boss mode! Thanks dude!
@clintbeasley You're welcome dude! Haha the algorithm knows before you do 😅
Great Video !!! I really appreciate that you repeated the process. Thanks a Bunch.
Thank you! Yes I always find it's better to repeat things like this where there are a few things happening one after another. Makes it easier to follow. Glad you found it useful 😃
I’ve been practicing the hand launching/landing. I lightly hold from the bottom, double click the orange button, and let its own lifting raise out of my hand. For landing I bring it in low, and gently grab from the top, and without putting up/down pressure press the orange land till the beep and it does the land and stay steady until the motors shut off. Sometimes, it wants to fly again and accelerates to liftoff, and repeat second time, and it works. ALWAYS being sure to keep hands clear no matter! I never tried or like the grab and twist.🇺🇸
Good informative video Justin
@@lynsmith1096 thank you!
I enjoyed watching this great video.👍👍
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I've been starting from the roof of my car or from the palm of my hand so far. Need to try this finger grab. Thanks 😉
@@DFD1 No problem! Good luck with it! 😃
Does the metal in the car affect the drone in any way? Did the goggles display a warning? i wanna try that too! 😅
@@camprey No issues at all. Clean start every time.
Wonderful how to!!!
👏👏👏🐾🐈⬛🍻
@chriscapune7873 Thanks Chris! 😃👌🍻🍻
Really nice, bro.
Could you also make a video on how to hand launch/land your 5-inch Nazgul?
I saw your cool hand launch/land in the Mount Batur video before. And believe you can't pause the 5 inch quad..LOL
Hey bro! Thanks! Already made that video a while ago. Here's the link - czcams.com/video/_E1-lIBYbIA/video.html 😃
Great video thank you! Been wondering about how to do this!
@@ukmonk Thank you! You're welcome! It's not too difficult when you know how 😃
@@JustinBainbridgeYT Yeah had my Avata 2 for over a month now and LOVE it!! Been flying in manual as well which is awesome! My Mini Pro 4 came today, got it after watching your videos so thank you!
@ukmonk that's awesome, manual mode is so much more fun than normal/sport. Glad you're getting on well with it! Ah nice perfe t choice to go with the Avata 2. I love the Mini 4 pro so much 😃
@@JustinBainbridgeYT yeah Mini Pro 4 is like a nice sunday drive, Avata 2 is like putting my foot down :) Both are great for different situations!
Hey Justin. Thanks for the great videos for the avata 2. You are making the life of a noob much easier. Do you have a video where you talk how to deal with windy conditions?
Also do you ever plan to create a video how to edit drone footage?
Hey! You're welcome! That's what I'm here for, to make everyone have a smoother, safer more enjoyable experience. Windy condition just comes with experience to be honest. I have a video on wind considerations with stabilised drones like the Mini 4 Pro but with FPV you just have to account for the wind and just adjust your attitude to suit. I do have plans for this. It might be a little while to come but it's on the list 😃
I need to start doing this. Lots of sand around here and i don't want it to blow up into the motors during t/o and landing.
Yeah, another reason to hand launch for sure is sand! Especially the magnetic black sand all over bali 😅
I can confirm your hand launch method is brilliant mate 👌🏻 thanks for the personal lessons I’ll only be hand launching from here on 😁🔥👌🏻 besides it keeps the ND filter from getting dust on it from ground launching as I’ve noticed, I just need to work on slowing down when coming in, poor swing operator at Ubud rice terrice 😬🤣
@explorerfpv haha thanks mate! Yep that too saves getting a dusty lens! Hahaha that poor guy 😂😂 that was so funny
@@JustinBainbridgeYT yeah it was hilarious now I look back on it 😂 wish I got his face on camera LOL
Give a stabilize video for avata 02, with bets settings
Hey! I've already talked about the settings I use for stabilising Avata 2 footage in Gyroflow and also using Rocksteady, you can find them in this video - czcams.com/video/GU2Lg2KzNqs/video.htmlsi=f3jh4FD2ZGG_6K67
@@JustinBainbridgeYT thank you
Can you do a video on gain and expo for controller 3?
Already done 😃 Here's the link - czcams.com/video/F6Wk7sPZOm0/video.htmlsi=UW-zmsHXd-93TWhz
@@JustinBainbridgeYT I am not looking for fast acro settings. Rather slow indoor settings like I can do on the motion controller. I guess I will use my cinesticks off my other drone.
What do you think of bumpers and prop guards. I think they saved me on a drone job crash between balcony and trees.
I'm neither here nor there with them to be honest. I think some have the potential to protect in some medium level impact crashes. But if you crash hard, the guards won't save you. I also tend to fly a bit faster and more spritely with the Avata 2 and they would have a significant negative impact on the flight performance in this instance. For slow stuff, they won't really have much of an effect on flight. As for the camera bumpers, potentially good, but I'm not sure how the mounting points would hold up. Personally, I'm happy with knowing if I have a bad crash, it'll be damaged, so I just fly with a little room for error 😃
@@JustinBainbridgeYT it flies fast with them, but I think battery may deplete faster.
the front camera of the googles 3 is really bad. I can't believe DJI did that.
How do you launch from a moving vehicle. Like sailboat or such?
It's more difficult and depends on the speed. To be honest. There are too many factors for me to recommend one method as I would use different methods based on the speed of the vehicle. And how much space you have, etc. The best option is just to stop the boat or get it to go very slowly, then use this style of technique. But bare in mind you'll be trying to catch a moving drone so you'd have to stay in control of it and match the speed, etc, and it gets a bit messy.
@@JustinBainbridgeYT okay.
Just a thought we bought a sailboat.
And we are not experienced enough to just stop with the sails,(we could go up in to the wind 🤔) we would have to pulle the sails down then launch the drone fly then stop and pulle the sails down.
I think up into the wind is the way to go .. thanks 🙏
How do you change the mode on the camera? Mine is in safety mode
Hey! I've not heard of a safety mode on the camera before?
did you take the case off of it?
what is the strap for controller u r using?
I'm using the SYMIK Neck Strap - www.amazon.com/dp/B0BS3VHNTP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
It's a nice strap, just put a small drop of oil on the clasp before you use it or it can be a bit stiff. Just wipe off any excess before you use it with the controller 😃
Seen within 11 minutes - yeah.
Yo I just realized when I want to take 4k video can you give me the avata 2 for free in a free giveaway
@lychhayhengandlychhayhongv6387 Hi! Unfortunately, I am not in the position to do that! But thanks for watching 😃
