    Brilliant move by Big Sky. All mainstream American resorts have a gondola or a tram. Sometimes both (j hole). Think of this as one big advertising scheme. A very good one. So to everyone that loved big sky because no one really knew about it and it was uncrowded, well that's in the past.

    Just sharing my opinion here. I dislike gondolas and trams. 1) Even though they provide protection to passengers from wind and cold, they are more sensitive to wind related closures (they close in windy conditions because of their higher surface areas as compared to chair lifts). 2) the transitions are longer, you have to take your skis off, and put them back on. And 3) One of the key things we learned from the COVID pandemic is that we can by and large enjoy outdoor activities safely. That is unless we have to crowd into a small unventilated space with strangers as part of that outdoor enjoyment. I recommend chairlifts instead of the gondolas and tram, or at a minimum a chondola so that people have a choice. 4) Chairlifts are cheaper to install, cheaper to maintain, and cheaper to operate.

    • @rynolin342
      @rynolin342 Před 2 lety +6

      I agree that there are disadvantages to gondolas and trams but they are trying to balance their offerings here. Plus the gondola is better for beginners who are already slow getting on and off anyway. Swift current 6 already serves the same terrain as this gondola for those who want that faster ride. Also keep in mind their summer operations were a big part of this being a gondola system as tourists prefer that. The tram is kind of a mute point because the peak is far too steep to install any other type of lift so it's a good upgrade all around. You aren't wrong but the system they chose best fits their use case.
