My first Roja cassette was the Telugu version which I bought from Vizag. That time the music was not yet released in Hindi. And the entire south India went crazy about Roja songs. All the cabs, buses, restaurants were playing them on loop. The more we heard it the more we loved. But the real magic was listening to them on the walkman. (Those days we had walkman) and the majic it created in the ears and the mind was out of the world. And then came Thiruda Thiruda. OMG. What an experience that was and still is. And Rahman majic continues....

After seeing the credits is the covers of Magnasound / Pyramid shell covers of ARR Movie cassettes, I came to know that you need a arranger to execute the orchestras, the expertise of a sound engineer (H Sridhar) to bring the sound clarity. Also he credited the backup vocals (coloqually called chorus singers), instrumentalists and even the manager in his works. Nobody else had given those till ARR started this practise.

There were days when AR songs are aired over television and we just sit till the end of the songs ending, used to revoke the same over n over and still can't get enough, what I could say MAGIC OF MUSIC
behind AR, there is an incredible team that churns out magic from ARR, I paused the video a few seconds when H. Sridhar was shown in this episode to pay respect to him, I believe H. Sridhar's has a tremendous impact on how a song was recorded and presented, I can distinguish his obscene clearly in the present music.

It reminded me that at the core,, he was this young boy , just as normal as any of us, and it's this simplicity that he continues to embrace that makes him stand apart.. I was in 6th grade when I started appreciating Rahmna sir's music and totally fell in love with Naveen sir's flute. To me the flute didn't sound like an instrument but it would just sing, that was the magic it did to when I was so young. The impact was so strong that I decided to learn the instrument and I underwent a proper training in the 10th grade and never looked back. Extremely fortunate to have met Naveen sir and share all my feelings for his music. Touching my forehead to his feet was the only thing I knew then.

Fantastic episode! We all have loved Naveen and his flute playing from day 1 and it's so heartening to hear his experience working so closely with Maestro ARR. Naveen has always been part of ARR's close music family. He seems to have a sweet personality.
So nice to see and listen to Naveen...He had a huge impact on the music of ARR those days...Similarly i remember a Mrudangam player also, who used to create magic with ARR - while ARR is an expert in utilizing all instruments, my memories of 90s ARR songs, especially Tamil once were all enriched by either Flute or Mrudangam...

True That moment of the day! We already knew how selfish the music industry is when they don’t care even geniuses in front of commerce, be it Chitra, musicians or Rahman himself! This admission by Naveen, the great flutist of Indian cinema only brings to light the sorry plight of affairs here. Don’t know really how it is on the west side but atleast Arr influenced some change in certain practices if not alter their course entirely and this credit giving is surely one of them. Even as a child I used to always see musicians names only on Arr music cassettes and never before I noticed such a thing and Naveen is one of the most regular names that we see on any Arr cassette along with a few sound engineers, Sivamani, etc. Bombay theme along being given cult musical status has truly elevated Naveen’s fortunes 🔮 too to that of a top classical musician in some Hindustani or Carnatic music field. That’s the impact of Rahman’s composition and more so of his egoless nature on musicians. He also knows how to treat his team well and extract more music from them unlike many other music directors. Rahman’s giving credits has filled the entire back cover of a cassette which is unusual practise till then and those days anyone felt that his music deserves that kind of credits and names. It’s only much later that the other music directors also made it a practice for their Albums also. Above all, Naveen is also a telugu guy and also from my very own Vizag makes me feel proud of him going places personally. I am hoping to see now his other albums mentioned where he rendered his flute along with ARR albums in the coming interviews.

It's the human side of AR that this episode taps into, that stood out for me.... Midnight icecream😂.... It reminded me that at the core,, he was this young boy , just as normal as any of us, and it's this simplicity that he continues to embrace that makes him stand apart.. Navin's a magician with the flute and but for AR,we wouldn't have known of these wonderful talents that layer the beautiful melodies that have become a part of our lives.... Loved this episode.

I was in 6th grade when I started appreciating Rahmna sir's music and totally fell in love with Naveen sir's flute. To me the flute didn't sound like an instrument but it would just sing, that was the magic it did to when I was so young. The impact was so strong that I decided to learn the instrument and I underwent a proper training in the 10th grade and never looked back. Extremely fortunate to have met Naveen sir and share all my feelings for his music. Touching my forehead to his feet was the only thing I knew then.

So nice to see and listen to Naveen...He had a huge impact on the music of ARR those days...Similarly i remember a Mrudangam player also, who used to create magic with ARR - while ARR is an expert in utilizing all instruments, my memories of 90s ARR songs, especially Tamil once were all enriched by either Flute or Mrudangam...

True That moment of the day! We already knew how selfish the music industry is when they don’t care even geniuses in front of commerce, be it Chitra, musicians or Rahman himself! This admission by Naveen, the great flutist of Indian cinema only brings to light the sorry plight of affairs here. Don’t know really how it is on the west side but atleast Arr influenced some change in certain practices if not alter their course entirely and this credit giving is surely one of them. Even as a child I used to always see musicians names only on Arr music cassettes and never before I noticed such a thing and Naveen is one of the most regular names that we see on any Arr cassette along with a few sound engineers, Sivamani, etc.
Bombay theme along being given cult musical status has truly elevated Naveen’s fortunes 🔮 too to that of a top classical musician in some Hindustani or Carnatic music field. That’s the impact of Rahman’s composition and more so of his egoless nature on musicians. He also knows how to treat his team well and extract more music from them unlike many other music directors. Rahman’s giving credits has filled the entire back cover of a cassette which is unusual practise till then and those days anyone felt that his music deserves that kind of credits and names. It’s only much later that the other music directors also made it a practice for their Albums also.
Above all, Naveen is also a telugu guy and also from my very own Vizag makes me feel proud of him going places personally. I am hoping to see now his other albums mentioned where he rendered his flute along with ARR albums in the coming interviews.
