We use sand to bed the free stalls in our dairy barn. We haul the sand from our own sandpit. Camera: bit.ly/36VslyQhero7 Drone: bit.ly/2RfPYvumavic2pro Tripod: amzn.to/35Qax6Z
I love how you take the time to position the camera to get great angles. I enjoy watching your videos and am now starting to watch all of them chronologically. Thanks for taking us, your audience, along for the journey. You’re awesome!
I'm addicted to you, Tom and 10th gen., I have nothing to do with farming, as far as, owning or work related. Watching y'all relaxes me so much though. My grandparents were farmers and it's a very tiring and most honorable of hard work. We absolutely could not survive in life without our beloved farmers. You have my respect in all that you provide for us.
Teflon liner in the dump bed will make it slide out with even short dump height, also make a vibrator that attaches to the frame of the dump bed to help it move... doing an awesome job with what you have to work with.
DEF is basically 35% urea and distilled water. Unfortunately you can’t produce urea in that high a concentration otherwise you could just personally fill the DEF tank and save a few bucks. 😝
Dave from Ottawa . I love your videos. I found your farm on google earth but it is missing a few buildings. The google earth images must be 3 or more years old. I also watch 10thgeneration videos and I love them also. I found Eric's farm on google earth also. Keep up the great work
What happens to the sand after it has been used in the cow stalls. Since by then it is mixed with the cow dung. Also, on another topic, can you explain how you get the very interesting footage for these videos?
The purpose of the DEF is to prevent the production of nitrogen oxide which diesels make due to the high compression and high heat. Unfortunately nitrogen oxide will never naturally breakdown. So def is injected into the exhaust and breaks down the compound.
Yun, like the lay out of the dairy barn that sand look there has to be several feet at least four feet or more the operation would be able use that much sand in two lifetimes.
You are a daring farm machine operator driving so quickly down that path over your camera 😅. Have you run over one yet? Isn't sand a big part of the geology of your area of Saskatchewan?
I enjoy you knowledge and well speaking comments about what makes cow care important to produce 100% pure milk. It's like drinking liquid gold. By the way do you have an e mail? Just thought I would ask
When you take the loader to push the sand into the shed, why go with an empty bucket, it'd save time if it was full. Not saying the way you do it is wrong, just asking why?👍
How long will that last? Will it be like a huge deep pit after say 10 years or it won't last that long? Pretty cool to have sand pit there on your land I would bed with sand too if I had that opportunity
P.S new subscriber here so may seem like I am commenting alot but its cause I went back to start at oldest video and I am binge watching this AMAZING CANADIAN DAIRY FARMERS CHANNEL!!
The def is thawed in the winter by the machine. The machine holds enough for days. So how is it a pain? I have it on all my pickups and love it! 20% better fuel economy than the trucks that dont use it. Sounds like u bitching just to bitch.

Your drone footage makes your barn look like a cow cathedral, thanks for sharing another great video!
I love the angles you show. Lots of editting but well worth it. Love the fact you has ve your own sand
One of the best youtube channels, very interesting and informative.
I’m back again to one of my favorite vlogs of yours Jan, one of my favorites because it’s warm time of year. I’m allergic to the cold 🥶

Do you mechanically groom the stall beds?
Are you from southern sask in the flats because I know the ground is a similar to what you described

Haha hope I never run out!
Yall might wanna look into conveyor too stock pile sand......
A push off trailer would make your job alot easier. That way you could back it in the barn and unload.
If you keep the def tank above half a tank all the time you’ll have less problems with it
Huh interesting
Was the milk tank empty since you used store bought milk for your coffee? 😅
Keep up the good work 😁
Some places have laws against using your own raw milk
A local cheese farmer produces her own milk, sell it to the quota system and has to Buy it back.
Do you buy milk from the store are get it straight from the cow for your own use?
You are a daring farm machine operator driving so quickly down that path over your camera 😅. Have you run over one yet? Isn't sand a big part of the geology of your area of Saskatchewan?
Is it allowed to take sand from that land? I am sure you will be in compliance, just curious on how it works.
Ur videos are so amazingg and great ! Can u make a tour in the farm ?
Mohamed Kadri I’ll make one today!
@@saskdutchkid and ill be waiting to see it !

@@johnlong3214 I'm sorry, dude, my English is not very good. 😊
John Long i think because its a heavy load
Where does the sand come from? Does someone come dump a bunch of sand on the farm or do you have a way of recycling old sand?
We just drive to the back of one of our fields, dig a whole and start haulin!
How long will that last?

Goed gedaan jonge! Zulke boerenbedrijven kunnen we in Nederland alleen maar van dromen!
That DEF is a pain in the ass in the winter. The semi just sucks it through. Was that your sand pail and shovel hanging on the wall. Beach volleyball.
I hate that def crap so much. We used a tractor where the main def computer broke twice in a week and the pump broke as well!

Andy Hass pickups are way different than farm equipment
It clearly hasn’t cost you enough money yet 😂
Playing in a sand pit
Why not fill muck spreader with sand and reverse into shed and empty 😀
Too bad the building design didn’t take into account the dumping part. I’d raise the roof about raising the roof ! *grin*
music is so intense
What happens with the sand when in comes in to the manure pits? Do you separate it and re use it?
No we have been just spreading It across the fields. It’s mostly still manure
oh ok good
Hello man
Like
Shoulda built the walls higher.
In the sand room?
@@saskdutchkid yee brotha
Robby Bachmann Yes would’ve been nice to dump in there!
@@saskdutchkid I guess u just have to build another whole barn 😂😂
I work with you
You should research what the DEF fluid is doing...because is not burning anything...

Does the farm own the mineral rights of its land?
IN THE USA THE FARMERs CALL DEF > GOVERMENT JUICE ???? HAHAHA ? Russ
Ham aapke sath karya karna chahte hain
You have a dairy farm yet your milk is from a carton??? Why now have the raw milk instead it better for you.
