Here are a couple thoughts about Patreon from someone who used the platform for four years for a podcast:
1. You don't need a huge community to utilize Patreon. I started with only five Patreon members, but that little bit of cash kept me uploading.
2. Thinking of Patreon like a shop subscription was helpful to me. Members paid me and I gave them digital content in return. I kept the more community-driven things to all tiers, so there was a low barrier of entry. And most of my content was free online outside of Patreon, so it was never a necessity for my community to pay money to be involved.
Take or leave any of that advice! Just some thoughts to add! Glad you are thinking through all these things before jumping in!
wow thank you!! these are awesome points - I totally understand how much value patreon can provide to both sides of the relationship, and I know most people who become patrons just want to support the work that the creator is doing. Your perspective sounds like a great way to do it!!
Also your experience that patreon can be utilized with smaller audiences is super refreshing to hear as well!! I feel like I only ever hear about crowd funding type systems only being useful/successful if you already have a large following. (also the way you offered this advice was super kind❤️ appreciate you🙏🙏)
your videos are so relatable and a perfect balance of passive and engaging - i like to watch/listen as i'm also creating bc i get inspired but it also just feels like facetiming a friend (in a parasocial way ahaha). also thank u for sharing about the alphabet superset. the pieces you've created are gorgeous!
thank you so much!!🥹 that makes my lil heart warm I will proudly be ur parasocial facetime buddy🤝🫰
Kafka on the Shore! My favourite of his so far
its so goood! its up there for sure in terms of favs of mine - I’ve always thought Hard Boiled Wonderland was my fav, but I read that years ago and kind of want to revisit it again and see if it still holds up🤔
@@leechuts that one was fun too! Kafka just matches my sensibilities more

What brushes do you use in Procreate?
this really resonated! i appreciate hearing your thoughts on being on the internet and sharing your art. i've been following and admiring (and jealous of) artists on youtube and instagram for years, but i found it so daunting to share my own work. i guess in a way it's safer to imagine that i COULD be successful instead of actually taking the risk to BE successful. so i started posting a drawing everyday on insta this year to take steps toward becoming the kind of artist i admire. but even just three months in i am having these thoughts and judgments in the back of my mind like, is this drawing "good enough" to share or is it "worth" continuing to work on so i can post it. and how much do i really have to offer and share with others???
so hearing that you also don't feel like you have it figured out is actually really encouraging! it makes me feel like the doubts i have about my art and myself CAN be conquered if i can just keep moving toward my goals. so thank you for being brave and sharing, complicated feelings and all! 🥹
aw thats huge!! congrats on breaking that barrier for yourself wishing you all the luck in feeling empowered to keep creating and keep believing in yourself🫶🫶🫶❤️ battling self-doubt will be a constant life challenge but every leap we take and every bit of discomfort that we tackle head on it gets easier and easier - tysm for your sweet comment🥹🙏
