Wow, I love the simplexity of the lyrics, arangement and finger picking all combining to create a beauty that soothes my soul and heart. My only child, my son Rory, died in a drowning last year in France. He would have so loved this song. Paul Schwartz (Rory's Dad)
Watched him live singing this when the strap for the guitar broke. He stood on stage, all alone, with the guitar balanced on his thigh and sang this. I cried, and I never cry. If you get a chance to see him, you gotta go. Cheers.
only people who feel music rather than listen to music can hear the genius ensconced within this.....i played acoustic guitar for 25 years professionally and learning his music opened an entire universe of what is capable out of a acoustic guitar....some people have to get past the initial vocals but they will suddenly grow on you
From 0:44 you can see a look of satisfaction appear on his face as he realises how sweet the acoustic set up Jools Holland has. Some of the best live versions of songs are from Jools.
Well I walk upon the river like it's easier than land Evil's in my pocket and your will is in my hand Oh, your will is in my hand And I'll throw it in the current that I stand upon so still Love is all, from what I've heard, but my heart's learned to kill Oh, mine has learned to kill Oh, I said I could rise From the harness of our goals Here come the tears But like always, I let them go Just let them go And now spikes will keep on falling from the heavens to the floor The future was our skin and now we don't dream anymore No, we don't dream anymore Like a house made from spider webs and the clouds rolling in I bet this mighty river's both my savior and my sin Oh, my savior and my sin Oh, I said I could rise From the harness of our goals Here come the tears But like always, I let them go Just let them go Well I walk upon the river like it's easier than land Evil's in my pocket and your strength is in my hand Your strength is in my hand And I'll throw you in the current that I stand upon so still Love is all, from what I've heard, but my heart's learned to kill Oh, mine has learned to kill Oh, I said I could rise From the harness of our goals Here come the tears But like always, I let them go Just let them go
i saw him last year, it was magical. there was no stage and i sat in the first row. it was like he was playing just for me in my living room... i love that he seems to be aware of every single second of his concert.
his music instantly realised me from a 10 year writers block once I tuned my guitar all the way down to OPEN C and Capo's it is was entering another universe I never saw. I owe my music to him thank you for taking my love of acoustic guitar and connected it to my soul ....now I can pick up a guitar and turn the knobs on any direction and play and write melodies that never would have been possible
Dylan has said, "I dont know where those songs came from." as if inspired, by a separate entity. He knows what he did early in his career, was brilliant. That kind of creativity, only happens once in a lifetime.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand its still there .. 'Bless the musician because without him a great darkness would come over the land. Our emotions would fold their tents and silently steal away.'
Trying to learn how to play this song makes you appreciate the song all over again. Absolutely no idea how he plays it and sings at the same time, unbelievable performance
I don't know the amount of times I have played this in the last 3 or 4 years since I discovered him..... but this song will always just be so frickin amazing. One of the few songs I could listen to on repeat for hours and not get bored. Thank you Kristian.
His lyrical content and emotion driven screeches gives you chills. This mans music is the music i will teach to my children, share with friends, and have played at my funeral.
It's as if this man's music is a magnet and my emotions are metal. I listen to one song and it latches on to sadness then pulls it to the surface...another song grabs onto happiness and yet another song makes nostalgia take hold. I'm so glad I found this artist!
This is just such an awesome performance......this bloke is amazing....blimey, songwriting and fingerstyle guitar skills that an angel from heaven must have dropped and let fall to Sweden !
that the most beautiful song that i heard this year can come from one man and not even a band blows me away, so simple yet so pure. made me pick my guitar up again.
Oh, how I love Jools for bringing me wonderful music with great camera and editing teams. Oh, and how The Tallest Man on Earth, like all the great singer/song writers, makes me feel like we are wearing the same skin. Like how Woody Guthrie feels like the bottom of my feet... the Tallest Man feels like my cheeks, the peak of my smile and the cliffs of my tears.
Just over 4 mins of pure perfect. I listen to this regularly after a long stressful day at work. It's so calming and warm. It puts everything into perspective, brings back a smile on my face. Once again, PERFECT!
One of the most authentic musicians of the 2000's+
Ever*
Super authentic american accent.
He speaks English in an American accent. He is Swedish and learnt English in that accent.
Never heard of Josh Ritter then.
@@bigbadgandhi Shush now

Paul Schwartz (Rory's Dad)
Rest his soul x
I'm sorry this happened Paul, & I pray that Rory is in Heaven now.
Sorry for your loss
So sorry. I hope you have found peace. Xxx
that's poetry, he's a near master
Alone on an evening hike I once heard this voice echo through the Grand Canyon. Interesting to find out it came all the way from Sweden.
I have no idea what this means but I love it.
Really shows how connected we as people are
Good choice of music for Grand Canyon I'd say!
Been coming back to this for years and years now.
Still 2020 and
I can't let it goe this song.
So good!
It's so go go go goed good 👍

When he sings "Here come the tears," it really brings tears to my eyes. I love this song!
I don't care that it is old, LISTEN TOO IT!!!
5 years to the day later and it's still amazing
+Devraj Roy Everything 5 years 10 15 , years on , this guys stuff is pure brilliance
It has one of the best guitar riffs of all time and incredible lyrics. Pure brilliance, as beckett said.
If I might be so bold as to say hes voice is a to the point or even slightly better than Dylans?
Pontus Nordborg I’d say for sure. I’ve always thought of Dylan as a fantastic songwriter and a great guitar player, but not a great vocalist.
my friend laughed at this when i showed it to her... we're no longer friends

haha , ha and ha
He's Bob Dylan if Bob Dylan could sing. And this is 100x better than the album version. Bye friend!!!
Why would she laugh for a such beautiful song?… I don’t understand 🤷🏻♀️
Correct

I had never cried at a concert until I heard this performed. Simply beautiful.
How does this man not cry every time he plays this song? Ugh. So good
I love this man! He has such a presence, eye contact like no other!
One of the best artists from the past 5 years, that's for sure.
This song is crazy beautiful.
How much I love this song, it will always bring me some sad but still good times of my life back in my mind.
So sweet, so sad, yet so soulful and honest. The lyrics can take you anywhere you want. And they do

Didn't properly discover Revelation Blues until recently. It's such a masterpiece of a song. Very underrated.

He should do something with First Aid Kit. Think he would bring out their nuances superbly, and they only live a couple of hours drive apart. :)
I saw kristian live in Atlanta...there's noone else I'd rather see preform. Best experience I've had in my 17 years
Always loved him☆ great song ☆amazing talent .. such a unique voice ♡
he's so handsome...but has rare beauty...because is combined with goodness and sweetness..

This is my first time hearing him "live" and not from the recordings.. Sooo good
When I wake up, the first thing I do before breakfast, I put this on and my day is good to go.
You don't have to compare artists to enjoy the music they produce.
Just listen and be happy.
This song makes me feel emotions, I never knew I had!
What a brilliant muso
He's not what we deserve, but who we need...etc etc :) ! Awesome song. And the guitar effect sound roughness works great with his voice.
Une des plus belles versions que j'ai écoutées. Tout le monde devrait prendre le temps de l'entendre. Bravo!!!
His range is INSANE and is done so effortlessly! He reminds me of Jamie Woon in that respect.
I like to think that this song is about flyfishing.. in a very poetic way
erimol237 I can see it
Drove days down to the states with my brother to see him in Minnesota. I love my brother.
This is so beautiful......what stunning talent !!!!!
