Many have heard of mermaids that live in the deep blue sea, the ones that call to the young sailors in their mighty ships. But few know about the ones that live deep within the forest. Indeed, these mermaids are the most mysterious and magical of them all. They live among the fae folk and the peaceful forest creatures, often singing to them when the moon is full and the stars fill their eyes. At times they’ll even come up to greet the fairies at the water’s edge and sparkle in the moonlight. If you ever find yourself in an enchanted forest and discover a bubbling pool, step back and wait for a glimpse of the forest mermaid siren. You may just hear her sing and see her sparkle. But also beware, her song just may enchant you and you may never want to leave.

fun fact: sirens didn't originally have mermaid tails. sirens and mermaids were considered the oceans two big folklore seductresses, however sirens were originally monstrous hybrid half human half bird creatures. later on someone wrote a book claiming "actually the siren has a scaley tail" but the thing is, in original folklore sirens used to be half human half bird creatures with a siren song that went across the entire sea drawing in sailors to a fatal death. the siren was a metaphor for the dangerous sea because around that time, our technology regarding building boats wasn't particularly the greatest at the time so more often than not people died going out to sea, a lot of people drowned, etc. the first recorded book was of "homer the odessy in the 8th century bce" the story is about a group of men who go off to sail the seas. they're told to put wax in their ears so they don't fall under the sirens spell. one person in particular doesnt, however he's also tied to the ship so he cant do anything. the next part of the novel shifts to the siren sitting in a grassy field surrounded by bones. so in history they never gave a physical appearance description. but how we know that the siren originally looked like a half bird half human creature was the ancient greek art that told the stories and adventures.
and we see a lot of half bird half human creatures in their art regarding sailors and folks at sea, therefore historians have come to the realization that sirens were once bird people. much later on the story evolves to fish people, but the original true siren was a bird person. however editional features to this story was our ancient scriptures-oral legends help to define the siren. these scriptures either claim the siren was the greek river god achelous's daughters or persephone's handmaidens who were turned into winged bird-women after witnessing her abduction by hades. they now spend their time luring sailors to their death with their song. and you might be wondering how this appearance was chosen looonnnng ago and you might question our ancestors "why did they described them as half bird half human?" or you might ask the symbolism behind "the ocean, the bird hybrids, and death???" well- that takes us back thousandddds of years earlier with the egyptian ba-bird. the ancient egyptians believed people were made of physical and nonphysical parts, one of these nonphysical parts being the "ba" and it was depicted as a human-bird hybrid after death. the ba-bird had a human head, bird body, and sometimes human arms. the ba-bird could fly from a tomb, or burial site but it always had to return after a period of time to the physical corps they once owned.
some egyptians believed that another part of the corpse's soul would need to be rowed across a specific holy lake in order to seek eternal life. a ba-bird's appearance also reflected the sex of a male or a female (in other folklore northumberland bestiary sirens, male sirens exist, however their folktale is lost on history due to them not having a "soothing feminine voice" when compared to the female sirens). theres a controversy when homers novel came out but it is a fact that the ba-bird came before like hundreds of years before, therefore the siren is a bird person. of course later on in the bc era, greeks and egyptians were doing trade and could share culture. so with that people argue that greeks invented the sirens, not the other way around. however sirens were never exclusively owned by the greeks and if anything the egyptians invented it first what with the obvious age gap difference. alsooo on the side note of this topic; 7th century scholar and archbishop isidore of seville wrote in his ambitious encyclopedia of language that sirens in particular "were said to have had wings and talons because sexual desire both flies and wounds. they are said to have lived among the waves because the waves gave birth to venus." the archbishop also wrote that "they were harlots who seduced sailors and other travelers driving them to destitution." which does explain how the tales of sailors died at sea. the original description of sirens as bird-women can also explain the actual carnivorous sea birds that hunt at sea and have nests surrounded or full of bones,
the first siren as a fish woman appears in an art piece much later on during the 7th century ce. around the same time in the late 7th century to 8th century a book came out called "the book of monsters" it describes the siren with the upper torso of a woman and a scaley tail. a few hundred years later-down the line is when we start to see more sirens with tails instead of bird wings. despite what they look like, sirens are known to be beautiful yet dangerous creatures that oftentimes are desired for their singing voice. and back in the day when you were called a siren, it was meant as a compliment. nowadays we got machines titled "sirens".
anyway i just thought to give you this fun fact on siren history and how they werent always fish people. they were once bird peeps and even as bird people they were desired by sailors to the point the sailors got themselves killed overseas-

Many years ago there was a 1948 movie called “Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid.” She sang a song so familiar to this lovely siren’s call. Ann Blyth played the mermaid. William Powell was the lucky fisherman. It was filmed at Weeki Wachee Springs in Florida. Your gorgeous healing video is a masterpiece.

Oh my goodness, I've been to weeki wachee springs to see their mermaid show. I forgot all about the film. I think they mention it in their little video before the mermaids come out.

And there it was a beautiful siren song of a mermaid which i was deeply drawn into, the voice was pulling me in while looking at my own reflection in the water. A mermaid slowly appearing, she was a beautiful mermaid that look like a godess. The lake was so enchanting almost like a dream, where anything can happen like magic. I couldn't forget that day when I met her, we would sing and talk about our stories.

Her name was kaia, every time i was down , i look for the lake where no one else could find it. It was a secret place for us, it was hidden deep within the forest where you can see the lake, you have to believe it that the lake is there infront you, a lake where no one can search and kaia led me to that place for me and no one. For people who has kinded heart can enter this place no greed shall pass to this enchanted forest.

Usually I would sit and rest in a mermaid's pool with other mermaids and sirens by my side and i would also sleep there with them. But it's ok because I also can breathe underwater despite me never having to breathe air to be alive.

I love this video. Ive been fascinated by sirens/mermaids since i played the game god of war and its only recently that ive been starting to sleep with music like this as it is helping calm my anxiety and helps with the what im thinking is depression. Plus it helps block out the dead silence in my room
