ive been loving the album since it dropped and 1:53 has to be my favorite part of the whole thing. such a monumental, powerful riff it just sounds like something that'd be incredibly large and intimidating

I'm sorry, but this just sounds bad to me. I understand that people like this, but... nah.
This is an artsy fartsy song. It's not the sort of thing someone puts on when going home form work or to play at a house party unless your at an artsy fartsy party. It's a "hmm isn't that sort of interesting/neat" song. It's not gonna get stuck in my head. It doesnt have catchy hook or baselines that I'm going to be playing in my mind at random times of the day. I do think what these guys are doing is neat though and worth checking out at least once. That being said I rate this a 6.5 out of 10. It get's extra points for being creative but aside from that it's just not that enjoyable to listen to beyond the first encounter. I often disagree with Anthony's music reviews and this certainly isn't anywhere neat a high 8 in my book. Perhaps I should do some of my own song reviews one day.
how many listens have you given it? there's plenty of interesting sounds that catch you when you listen multiple times, and maybe it's not meant to be catchy, but not every song has to snap into you like some sort of jolly rancher you pop into your mouth and you can easily digest. you may value replayability and catchiness, but if that's all you listen to/for all the time it gets pretty mundane. some of the best songs imo are the ones you don't quite hit you initially, but have layers you become more aware of the more you listen to, and this definitely does that for me
